6 x 2.5 hours Class size 1 to 4     label £270

Discover the joy of pottery in this engaging and hands-on pottery class. Over the course of six weeks, you will learn a range of skills including hand-building, throwing, surface decoration, and glazing. Your experienced tutor will guide you through each step, providing demonstrations and one-on-one tuition to ensure you feel confident and supported throughout your journey.

This course is a great introduction to pottery while also giving students with more experience opportunities to build on their existing skills. You'll have plenty of time for practise and experimentation, allowing you to discover and explore your own creative abilities through the art of clay.

During the workshop, you'll get your hands dirty as you work with different types of clay and learn various techniques. Whether you prefer the smoothness of hand-building or the precision of throwing, you'll have the opportunity to create your own unique pieces. From functional objects like mugs, jugs, and vases to more sculptural works, the possibilities are endless.

Learning how to make pottery involves making lots of mistakes along the way! The great thing about clay in its raw state is that it’s sustainable and can be recycled and reused. On this course, you will make many practice pots but you’ll choose your best five to glaze and fire in the kiln to take home.

You will be taught in Rachel Cox’s modern studio with the latest ceramic tools and equipment in a small group of up to four students. You will have access to a range of clays, slips and glazes and an apron will be provided. Your pottery will be fired twice in an electric kiln up to temperatures of 1260 degrees. There is a bike lock up and private parking onsite available to students.

Please note: Classes do not take place over half-term. If a course runs into half-term, classes will pause and resume the following week. All courses include 6 classes and course dates will be emailed to you upon booking.
