Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Excellent beginner session with Dawn (Teeside pk) Looked at different machines, decided on a good basic LS19.
Dawn explained and demonstrated how to set up and thread the machine. Learnt basic operations using the sewing driving test. Dawn was very friendly and helpful throughout.
I now feel confident to buy a machine and get started on a hobby I have wanted to do for a long time. The Hobbycraft workshop made getting started very easy and accessible at a good price.

What a disappointment.
My one to one Workshop tutor admitted she had never used my requested machine before. The session was to use the display machine which it turned out had a piece missing so we couldn't start to attach a foot. A piece was taken from a different model also on display.
Things seemed to improve with the auto threading but when it came to sewing
things went downhill. The machine kept missing / dropping stitches on whatever pattern was tried. The tension was not accurate, (very obvious as it was threaded up with green top /white bottom)She made several attempts to adjust the tension to no avail.

Consequently I never got to try out the machine I was hoping to purchase. It was suggested that children on holidays often play with and damage machines.
This may well be the case but that's no consolation to me. Needless to say I was unable to complete my workshop and I did not go home with a new sewing machine as I had hoped to do.

Another artistic session with Dawn, such a relaxed yet inspirational event with a really pretty spring canvas floral masterpiece. My Granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed it and Dawn, as always, have some new techniques for her to learn.

Attended crochet for beginners. Becs, the teacher, was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. You are provided with wool, a crochet hook and instructions in a bag to take home. You learn chain stitch, double and treble. The only downside was being in a public area, other customers were able to approach the group which was a little off putting. But overall good experience.

I booked this for my little boy for something to get out and do.
It was great value for money. He made a beautiful easter bonnet. There was lots of thing available for him to add onto it, and he was very proud of the end product.
The teacher was so lovely. Friendly and approachable, and my little boy cannot wait to see her again.

I haven't used a sewing machine in over 40 years, so things have moved on a great deal. I am impressed with both the complexity available and the clear instructions I got. She also encouraged me to try everything myself. Terrific value for money. I feel ready to try everything myself now!

I haven’t done much sewing in a lot of years and this lesson was a total refresher for me.
My sewing machine is approx 45 years old and it still sews beautifully but the demonstrator showed me the benefits of modern sewing machines.
I now know more about what I am looking for in a new machine.

The lady teaching us is lovely. She was patient, encouraging and so helpful to all of us. She spent time individually to ensure we were fully understanding and practicing as well as showing the whole class the individual steps. It's so good that there are only a few people per class so that we can get the full benefit, and I'm delighted I did manage to get as far as I could considering my clumsy hands. We're welcome to retake this beginner's class which for someone like me would be of great benefit as this is the best way I learn. It really was an enjoyable afternoon, and I got to come away with items to encourage I continue.

Husband and I really enjoyed this acrylic pouring class with teacher Dawn. She explained and demonstrated two techniques, which we then tried ourselves. Great materials and fun - you get results so quickly! Need to leave the canvases at shop to dry for 2 weeks. We even went home with paint to continue the hobby at home. Good value, great teacher. I really enjoyed the learn to crochet class, the teacher was chatty, friendly and easy to understand. The area at Hobbycraft was easy to access with good seating, lighting and warm!
I thought it was excellent value for money, especially as we were all given a tote bag to take away with 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook. All the other people in the class were friendly and the time flew by. It was a lovely afternoon and I hope to book in for another class. Thank You!

Teacher was really good.
Only negatives, the amount of baubles we got for the price of the course could have had more, very limited colours which considering its Xmas could have been better selection - same as in store to purchase not a lot of colours which was a missed sale as I would have purchased. Also think it would be good to offer those on the course a discount voucher for a purchase that day as again a missed opportunity whilst you have people in store. Teacher could have also had a set of baubles to do but didn't so just got an explanation rather than a demo then applied our technique.

This was my first time doing something like this and I put pressure on myself to know everything straight away but Bec (99%sure that's her name) was absolutely brilliant. she went through everything step by step and got me to do the steps so I knew what I was doing. Jenn was an amazing teacher, really tailoring the session to what i wanted. She pitched it a tge right kevel and explained things well and repeated it if needed.
Jenn used materials that were similar to what i wanted to use. Jenn used an ipad and i will beusing a laptop with my cricut and she explained the differences which made it easier when i got home.

My sister and my son had a brilliant time at the workshop. My sister has Down Syndrome and although she's 39 she was made to feel included with the others.
My son suffers from anxiety but quickly felt comfortable with Dawn and has said he wants to come back to do some of the Christmas workshops!

My instructor (sorry - forgotten her name!) was absolutely brilliant! Couldn’t fault her at all. She was knowledgeable and very patient. Lovely lady. Highly recommend!
The downside was the machines themselves. The first one had a problem and the second one needed adjustment! My instructor was most apologetic and explained that the machines get tampered with when on display (which I understand) but perhaps they need regular servicing or should be checked by someone before a class as it did put me off purchasing one somewhat……

Hi, Dawn my teacher was excellent. She had not been notified about my session until 1 hour before. She apologised for lack of some samples due to this oversight. However she explained and demonstrated everything I had wanted to know, above and beyond my requests. She was very professional and very knowledgeable. I now have a good understanding of overlocker and their uses. She also recommended a youtube channel which was also very informative. Great workshop on how to use cricut. I’ve never used one before but was interested in knowing how to use it. Jenn showed me the benefits and drawbacks of each model so I could decide the best model for me.

Then showed me how the software works. We made a gift tag which demonstrated how to merge 2 shapes and change the font. It also showed how to create a hole.

Really enjoyed it. Fingers crossed Santa is good to me.

Teacher was very good. There was a class of 5 people but Becs gave one-to-one tuition if it was needed. Thoroughly enjoyed the class and the time went very quickly. We learned single crochet, double crochet and triple crochet. All materials were supplied. Certainly recommend the class. Just a suggestion, but It would be nice if class was extended by another half hour or so to teach people how to read a crochet pattern.

My daughter enjoyed this workshop even though she didn't do very much of her windchime! Ellie did her best to encourage her to make it instead of me doing it. This workshop is very good value for money with the choice of lots of different colours and sizes of buttons, pipe cleaners and feathers to choose from. I would highly recommend it for children over the holidays.

Greatly enjoyed the session with Anna in store. She carefully guided me through this craft which was totally new to me. The course is good value as the session In store is only £1 more than the current price for kit in store and you get tuition. But as I purchased when the workshops were discounted, even better value Can highly recommend. One thing to note though is that you need to return to the store 3 days later to collect your artwork when it has dried. Maybe you could carry it home on the day, but go prepared with something suitable to carry some very wet /sticky items home.

I recommend this class. It will give you basic beginners information on acrylic pouring. I paid £24 for the class. I got 1 hour with the teacher and 1 other participant. The kit they give you to use in class and take home is worth over £40! A full acrylic pouring kit that they sell instore for £29. Plus 4 boards and a pouring box canvas that they sell for £11.50. We produced two pictures. You have to go back to collect them in 2 weeks. The session was advertised as making coasters but to be honest doing the pictures was much better.

Lovely way to occupy a child for half an hour and have something to show for it. Highly recommend.

It was good poor girl who was new to it not her fault there was no one else on shop floor people kept asking for help she did say to them I'm sorry I'm doing a paid class but they kept saying just want this so she had to break off this happened a few times which means going over things again THIS BY NO MEANS WAS THE YOUNG LADIES FAULT but it did get annoying but she had no alternative it was customers that are rude but it would have been better I was thinking of doing sublimation class but not sure now I realise that it would be fine where they do the class if it wasn't for no other member of staff looking after customers under conditions the lady did well and kept apologise it didn't help Internet kept going off and slow

My 6 year old daughter and her friend really enjoyed their bonnet making workshop. The teacher was very helpful with lots of ideas and the girls loved deciding where to put the decorations on their bonnets. They also enjoyed making springy flowers from pipe cleaners and felt to add to their bonnets. It was a lovely start to their Easter holidays.

I loved this course. It was a great experience and the teacher was very helpful, especially helping me when I was struggling with a recovering broken arm! I feel I now have the skills to try making more at home.
It was really good value for money. The materials provided were enough to make a complete wreath. For those who chose to only make a partially covered wreath left-over materials were available to take home. The box everything came in proved invaluable to get my wreath home undamaged in pouring rain.
Well done to all concerned. I am looking out now for another course to try.

The one to one Cricut workshop was very helpful, I have had my machine for a month and it was very useful to be able to ask questions on the areas I have struggled with.
My tutor was very knowledgeable and covered all the items I wanted to at this stage. This was a very worthwhile course and excellent value for money. I will book another in a few months time as I am sure there is still plenty I can learn about this machine that I don’t already know.

I have never used a cricut machine (or seen one in action ) so booked this workshop to get some insight & tips.
I'm not very techy so I was a bit nervousbut no need to be.

Went to Teesside Park for 1-1 Cricut joy training with Jenn. She was amazing and took her time to explain everything step by step. I’ve learnt so much from her as I am a complete beginner and can now use the app, design, print, cut and use the pen. Jenn also explained how to transfer vinyl to glass and clothing. It would have been nice to see some finished products first and for the teacher to have spare baubles to demonstrate on rather than using our kits. My only criticism is that it felt a bit rushed and this was a gift workshop for my mum -something to do together for Christmas - so an extra half hour or 45 mins to ourselves would’ve been better. I would highly recommend this workshop for absolutely anyone who would like to try something new, creative and relaxing. Dawn, the artisan, was friendly and knowledgeable and easy to follow. Opening the materials provided felt like Christmas and the end result is a piece of your very own work of art, regardless of whether you believe you have any artistic qualities. My only suggestion for improvement would be a 2 hour workshop.

Dawn was perfect for taking the course, and very experienced. Dawn paced the tutorials so that we were all following her step by step through the various stages of brush lettering. All the materials were provided and we got to take them home which was excellent value for money. I achieved my goal to hold the pens to get the right technique to write, shaky at first but confident by the end. Can’t wait to put my new found skills to good use this Christmas.

I attended this workshop with a friend. When we arrived everything was ready for us. The member of staff working with us, Anna, was patient, professional and friendly. Her instructions were clear and simple. We both liked the packs we received and the ideas to do more things when we took the baubles home, and we did go and buy more supplies from hobbycraft for this. An enjoyable workshop.

I went to this workshop with my daughter in law. We both enjoyed the workshop, nice quality items and lots left for us to make some at home. The member of staff , Dawn, who was working with us was friendly and helpful. She was very patient with us and took time to demonstrate each step. The shop is well maintained and everything we needed was in the individual boxes ready for us to start straight away. We’ve booked for a different workshop next week as we felt this was well organised.

Thoroughly enjoyed the session. The teacher was approachable and helpful. The starter kit that we were able to take away is good. There's no need to buy any equipment immediately.
Having no experience at all with water colour painting (or any type of painting except walls), I am chuffed to bits with my 'masterpiece'. I just hope that I can remember how to produce the depth of field again! I definitely will pursue this hobby.
Certainly recommend the class to anyone with no knowledge about water colour.

This workshop was organised by staff member, Anna. I found her to be helpful friendly and professional. Making the wreath was enjoyable, I liked the products supplied and Anna helped with anything I struggled with. The shop is clean and tidy and there was a good workspace for the workshop. As other members of staff passed by they were friendly and interested in the completed wreaths. I was pleased with how it turned out and will be hanging it up tomorrow.

Jen is a superb teacher , so enthusiastic and makes the whole workshop an enjoyable and informative experience. We where introduced to two forms of indelible ink mediums, paper and pen. The stages of both mediums used were explained clearly and she created two really beautiful articles, a lovely Autumnal tote bag, using ink paper and a pretty Christmas ceramic coaster. Jen always explains stages clearly and is happy to answer any questions. Super workshop ,she really inspires her customers to try new things. Lovely lady!

Class was well paced and we all maaged to complete something that we were happy with. Only 3 people came to the class which I felt was a shame but at least there was plenty of time for the instuctor to spend with us individually. Definately interested in other workshops.

Lucky to have One-to-one instruction from the knowledgeable Donna who provided a massive kit of pouring paints with everything you need for the one hour workshop. A new technique to me, similar to marbling in effect but easily and readily explained by Donna who made it all enjoyable. Very well worth a try if you haven’t done acrylic pouring before and very much a bargain hour with Donna’s guidance and a huge kit of paint and canvasses to take home. Only problem, I guess I’m now gonna need a bigger craft room!

I paid for the 1:1 so I could find out which new sewing machine could match up with a list of requirements I wanted my new machine to have. Dawn was so patient and fully explained how the machine worked and then allowed me to have a go at the tasks.
I was amazed at how easy the Singer confidence 7640 was to use and
bought one that day. Dawn also suggested if I had any problems to go back to theirTeesside Park as well as suggesting a useful You tube site

It was my first time making a flora crown and using these materials, the teacher was lovely and helpful, it was an enjoyable experience. There are enough materials in the pack to make more than one flora crown and the flowers were lovely, very good value for money.

I was very surprised by the amount of materials in the kit, there is plenty of paint to do all 4 A5 canvasses and the square box canvas and the colours are a really good mix. I loved the lesson and am so looking forward to picking my finished pieces up in a couple of days.

What a lovely workshop. We need more crochet classes at Teesside Park Hobbycraft, Amigurumi animals would be good. The teacher, Rebecca was a lovely young lady, very patient friendly and helpful. She gave lots of tips that she has worked out herself to make crochet easier. The kit is very good. Everything I needed to know about design space and the fact that Jen used her own lap top to show me exactly how everything would look on my own laptop was excellent and visually, helped me so much. Me and my sister came to the Bunting Workshop, we had the lovely Jo as our teacher, we already had experience with the stitches but we still received the same attention as the beginners, it is a lovely venue near a large window so lots of natural light, the craft box was very exciting and we received everything we needed, overall it was a great experience and very relaxing afternoon and we loved it so much we have booked onto the Jubilee Bunting Workshop and on the waiting list for the Granny Square workshop.

Have attended two , one-one works shops with Rebecca at Teesside Park Hobbycraft Shop. Rebecca is a very friendly and pleasant teacher. New to Cricut and needing to learn basic information, Rebecca soon put me at ease. We covered many aspects of Design space and after the two work shops I now feel more confident, especially with all aspects leading to Draw and Cut . I have been able to produce sticky backed labels and other items with far more ease and speed. I have already booked two more Cricut courses. The class was excellent value for money and I'd like to thank Rebecca for her patience and knowledge.

Teacher was very knowledgeable about folk art and was able to go through it all step by step with me, encouraging me every step of the way. She demonstrated each little bit first before I had a go. She explained why certain techniques were used and how to develop them. The items were of good quality and I am impressed with the sketch book too. Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing session, which I will continue to practice at home.

From start to finish, Dawn explained everything step by step. Her demonstrations were at my pace and any questions, she answered them fully. All the materials needed were provided either in the box or from Dawn (scissors, pencil). I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher and I was able to create a wonderful piece of embroidery. Dawn did provide a piece of material with the template already drawn on, which did help! I can’t recommend this workshop enough!

Really enjoyed this workshop. Tutor Jo was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable.
Results were not quite as good as expected, possibly due to type of paper or quality of paint supplied.
I definitely feel equipped to experiment and practice at home now.

Teacher was fantastic- great knowledge and understanding of Lino printing and set us at ease. Venue was great. Relaxed. Most of the products were great value however the black ink/paint provided didn’t d what it should. The paper stuck to the Lino causing it to rip. I bought essdee block printing ink from the store, tried it at home and that worked a treat. I would like more courses, especially the floral painting which I’m on a waiting list for. This was a very interesting workshop. Two different shapes of ceramic decorations, some pens, brushes and paint, along with a guide for the brush letters. I really enjoyed the Christmas cracker workshop. Everything you need comes packed in a box which you open yourself. Once we checked that everything was there, Olivia, the workshop leader, guided me in what to do with decorating the crackers. She let me use my own ideas too. I found the class very useful and am looking forward to playing around with ideas to decorate the leftover crackers. I was surprised to discover that no-one else had booked this workshop, so I had a 1-1 experience. Well worth the money.

Fab wreath making class with Olivia, she was informative and very helpful, and even provided extra materials if we felt we needed to add to what was in the box. Materials provided in the box were sufficient, if a bit plain (frosted wreath) but it was lovely to have a few additional gold bits to add to the feeling of Christmas. Really good value for money, an hour flew by and would definitely do again.

Really enjoyed the workshop with Dawn and was very surprised at how colourful and unusual the finished artwork looked. All the equipment was provided and there is plenty left to try it out at home. I was very lucky in one way that I was the only one enrolled on that course but it was a pity there was no one else there to enjoy it with and compare results. Nevertheless I will be enrolling in another course that has caught my eye. I am looking forward to collecting my "artwork" in a few days when it is dry.

Attended this class on 1st November at Hobbycraft Teesside Park and found it very enjoyable and well worth the money. I did not expect to find so many different items in the presentation box and was very pleasantly surprised. the teacher Joanne was very good and demonstrated the various ways to make snowglobes. The teacher Dawn was lovely and very knowledgeable. I did Xmas cloche and it wasn’t until we went to put them together we realised there was no hole for the bulb, I took it home unfinished, cut all the bottom pegs off and glue gunned the pieces in place as Dawn suggested.

This was my first workshop and my tutor was Joanne. As a relatively new sewer she showed me how to get the best use from my sewing machine including use of different stitches, cleaning my machine, how to make a bottom hole and which thread to use. She also explained about about fusible fleece and interfacing which really helped me understand their use. Joanne was very clear in her explanations and allowed me time to make notes and ask questions. I would definitely recommend and it was only £10 for a 1 hour 1:1 tutorial.

The session was what I needed. I had many questions about using a Cricut machine & how to create items. These were all answered clearly for me. Rebecca who led the session, was very helpful & showed me how to do what I needed.

I booked the workshop for my five year old grandson just so that he could try something different.
As it was we were the only people attending so it was a fantastic one to one lesson.
Our teacher Dawn was great with Jake and had lots of patience.
We came away with Jake buzzing about the fact he could now plait
He was so delighted that he had made a bracelet for his mum.
There is plenty of bits left to enable him to make more.
We would definitely attend another workshop.

I'd asked the Hobbycraft Stockton store for tips before I "unboxed" by Cricut Maker machine and use it for the first time. Everything shown to me was really useful and has given me confidence and inspiration to try projects myself. The teacher was friendly and approachable and I would certainly approach the store again if I wanted tutoring in any further specific cricut projects. It is such good value for money for what you get to learn in an hour.

Jo, the teacher, was lovely and made the children and parents feel very at ease. She explained everything very clearly and made sure everyone knew what they were doing.

The venue was great, easy to get to and located in a great spot within the store.

The children both really enjoyed the whole event and were inspired to come home and continue painting.

Superb value for money. Knowledgeable and friendly teacher who gave clear instructions and support, and was herself very talented and able (completing a Masters in Fine Art herself). My 12 year old and her friend produced lovely art work, and took away a massive box of resources at the end of the session. I learnt a lot myself and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the class. Would totally recommend.

Well, Jen was fantastic, very friendly, very knowledgeable, and able to get across what she was teaching. The venue was awkward, firstly the previous person's session had run over so mine started late. It was off-putting with customers walking past and children trying to see what we were doing. We were interrupted many times by telephone calls which Jen had to take because they were short-staffed due to sickness. She apologised profusely for this. I joked that I would stay an extra half hour but it didn't go down well as it was soon to be finishing time. It would have been nice to be able to follow Jen on a Cricut machine for better reinforcement. I could have brought my own. I would book again with Jen, later in the year.
