• 5/5 from Beverley Hamilton, attended Apr 2026: First thing the top floor was far too hot , then I wish it had been a bit longer cause I sort of felt a bit rushed (from someone who hadn’t even held a Crochet hook before), the wool I was given was a bit too loose ie.. the strands of the wool were always unraveling , the teacher was very patient with the 3 people in the group class & explained everything as best as she could, loved the fact that she gave us fact sheets, 2 balls of wool & the Crochet hook we had used to take home with us & a Hobbycraft Workshops bag to keep it all in . Overall I would recommend this group but I think you would get more out of it if you weren’t a total complete beginner (like the 3 of us were) . I have shown what me made during the class & the goodies we got to keep . Now I’m just waiting for a second class or a follow on class (which would be great ). PS.. I have tried 3 times to upload a photo but for some reason it won’t upload .

She was very easy to chat to, class size (3) was ideal. I couldn’t crochet at all on Monday, now completed a full square Wednesday evening.

Definitely recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to learn to crochet. I was able to practice how to do a slip knot, chain and double crochet and was shown how to do treble because we ran out of time.

At the end of the session I felt I knew the basics of crochet and was happy with my little self made samples. Definitely value for money as we were given a hook and two big balls of wool! You are provided with wool, a crochet hook and instructions in a bag to take home. You learn chain stitch, double and treble. The only downside was being in a public area, other customers were able to approach the group which was a little off putting. But overall good experience.

She spent time individually to ensure we were fully understanding and practicing as well as showing the whole class the individual steps. It's so good that there are only a few people per class so that we can get the full benefit, and I'm delighted I did manage to get as far as I could considering my clumsy hands. We're welcome to retake this beginner's class which for someone like me would be of great benefit as this is the best way I learn. It really was an enjoyable afternoon, and I got to come away with items to encourage I continue.

The area at Hobbycraft was easy to access with good seating, lighting and warm! I thought it was excellent value for money, especially as we were all given a tote bag to take away with 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook. All the other people in the class were friendly and the time flew by. It was a lovely afternoon and I hope to book in for another class. Thank You!
