2 hours Class size 1 to 5     label £35

Join Stacey in her garden studio, where you will learn how to make your own egg tray in clay. You’ll shape the tray, create a unique slip design, and finish it off with a food-safe glaze - making it a lovely addition to your kitchen counter.

Working as a group, you will re-purpose old egg trays, cutting and carving them into molds that will help to shape your clay.

Next, you'll learn the basics of working with terracotta clay by practicing wedging techniques and using roll guides to roll your clay into an even slab. Your tutor will give plenty of demonstrations along the way, making this a great class for beginners and the more experienced potter.

Once your egg tray is formed, enjoy the freedom of creating your unique slip painting design on the surface. This could be anything you like, maybe some spring flowers or simple polka dots in spring colours? Your tutor will provide plenty of ideas and inspiration to get you started and demonstrate simple painting techniques that get great results.

Lastly, you will glaze your egg tray with a clear, food-safe glaze ready for firing. Your tutor will supervise the drying and firing of your work over the course of a couple of weeks.

This workshop will teach you new skills as you see your creation come to life. Your finished egg tray will be a beautiful and functional piece to proudly display in your kitchen.

A fascination with everyday objects and ornate furniture is what inspires Stacey's artistic practice. Making mixed media sculpture and relief prints from her garden studio, Stacey uses clay is one of her main materials.

'I love how responsive clay is in its raw state, and the technical challenges that come with introducing it to other materials and processes.'

Along side Stacey's art practice, she runs friendly and relaxed ceramics classes in her garden studio.

In one of Stacey's classes you will learn the basics of working with clay, progressing step by step with your group, and completing your project on the day. You'll get plenty of demonstrations and guidance throughout the class with the freedom to add your own creative spin on your project. So if you are completely new to ceramics, or already have some experience, Stacey's classes are made for you.

Stacey will take care of all drying and firing of work, which will be ready to collect (or post if cost is covered) in 2-3 weeks.

'The pleasure of working with clay is something everyone should experience.'
