Join this kurinuki matcha set pottery workshop at Bird & Blend Tea Co. and discover a beautifully calming blend of tea culture and traditional Japanese ceramics. This hands-on experience invites you to switch off from the busy week and enjoy a slow-paced, creative evening making your own matching matcha bowl and cup. It's a wonderful, warm environment where you can connect with fellow creatives and enjoy a unique, tactile craft together.
If you've never touched clay before, there's absolutely no need to worry. This relaxed session is designed for all abilities, making it perfect for beginners who want to try something new. Tosin from Olu.T Designs will act as your encouraging mentor, providing friendly, step-by-step guidance throughout the two hours. You'll explore the fundamentals of handbuilding and learn the ancient Japanese art of kurinuki – carving organic forms from a solid block of clay. Everything is set up for you to succeed, with high-quality clay, tools, and a curated selection of beautiful glazes ready to use while you sip on delicious teas and matcha.
  • Guided workshop experience – Learn traditional handbuilding and carving techniques from an expert artisan in an intimate group setting.
  • Custom ceramic matcha set – Shape, carve, and glaze your own matching bowl and cup, completely ready for kiln firing.
  • Complimentary goody bag – Take home a special selection of treats from Bird & Blend Tea Co. to keep the feel-good experience going.
  • Creative studio perks – Enjoy exclusive drinks discounts on the night to sample award-winning loose-leaf blends.
You'll experience a deeply grounding sense of peace as you lose yourself in the rhythmic process of sculpting and carving your clay. Beyond the wonderful boost to your creative confidence, you'll walk away with a beautiful, one-of-a-kind keepsake set that will add a spark of personal joy to your daily rituals. Your finished pieces will be carefully dried, glazed, and fired in the kiln, ready for you to collect approximately 2 to 3 weeks after the workshop.
