Upcycling Embroidery Workshop - Floral Couching

Nurture your creativity with the couching stitch in this London embroidery class.

1.5 hours Class size 5 to 12     label £40

Step into the tranquil ambience of experienced teacher Ashley Jess Knight's weaving studio and immerse yourself in a therapeutic and relaxing embroidery workshop in London.

In this class, you'll discover the couching stitch as you make a floral textile art piece and explore various ways to upcycle your clothes. Couching is a hand embroidery technique that secures a 3D material onto fabric, which can be varied using different stitches.

You'll start with mastering the basic embroidery stitch before working on a flower patch crafted from recycled materials. Here's where your creativity truly blossoms as you can customise your flower using the couching stitch. Further personalise your creation with an assortment of upcycled beads, sequins, and embellishments.

To finish up the workshop, Ashley will guide you on finishing the edges of your embroidery hoop to transform it into a finished piece of artwork that you can take home with pride.

On the hunt for a London hen party idea, a creative birthday party or Valentine's Day celebrations? This experience is perfect for creatives and accessible for beginners. Your teacher can travel within London and the UK for additional travel costs.

Ashley's workshops focus on upcycling skills focusing on the embroidery technique of couching, allowing participants to upcycle weaving waste into textured and 3D art pieces which can be simple technical swatches or more complex themed art pieces.
