4 hours Class size 1 to 8 (public classes), 5 to 10 label £125

This immersive Venetian Feast cooking class is the perfect opportunity for you to discover the comfort of traditional Venetian cuisine, all about simplicity and flavour.

You will not only learn how to prepare and cook classic Venetian dishes, but also dive into the rich culinary culture that has been passed down for generations – all whilst learning some useful tips and tricks to master the art of Venetian cooking.

In this class, you’ll learn authentic recipes and cooking techniques, and enjoy a fun and interactive culinary experience in a relaxed setting.

First of all, you’ll learn how to make some traditional starters, such as mozzarella in carrozza (deep-fried mozzarella sandwich) or fried meatballs, all to be served alongside your aperitif drink (aperol spritz or non-alcoholic).

Then you’ll learn how to make one main course which may include a risotto with peas, lemon and mint, pasta with mussels in a rich tomato sauce or pumpkin gnocchi with butter and sage (depending on seasonality and local market ingredients). This will be followed by learning how to make ‘sgroppino’, a traditional lemon sorbet digestif.

Finally, it’s going to be dessert time with a classic tiramisu’ or some baci in gondola meringues (kisses on a gondola), to accompany your Italian-style coffee.

Ciao, I am Fabio, welcome to the Venetian kitchen!

Born and raised in Venice, Italy, I inherited a deep passion for cooking from my mother, a true Venetian who was born and lived in Cannaregio, the northernmost of the six historic sestieri (districts) of Venice.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with her, learning the secrets of Venetian cuisine that combine flavors and stories from the sea, land, and lagoon. After graduating, I began working in the food and tourism industry and have since gained experience working in various restaurants, both as a waiter and cook, hotels, and maritime agencies, both on board of ships and ashore. And if there is one thing that I learnt is that good food makes people happier and it's also about joy, passion, life, family, and friends.

Ten years ago, I moved to London for work, and while I have grown to love my new home, my heart remains with Venice and its incredible food. Venetian cuisine brings back memories of home, family, and friends, and sharing these traditions with others is something I truly cherish.

Besides the Venetian Kitchen I also run the baking blog the Italian baker, where I share baking recipes with an Italian twist and run Brixton Windmill baking classes throughout the year.
