Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Brilliant patient teacher at Hobbycraft Romford. Great value for money.

She is so enthusiastic, patient as a saint (I am left handed). I felt inspired by the end off the class.

My mum and I had a wonderful time with our teacher. She was super friendly and kind and made us both feel at ease as total beginners. We learnt the basics of the machine, how to set it up, the various equipment we'd need and their purposes, and practiced sewing on the machine. It gave us the confidence to do it and now we are planning to buy our own sewing machine.

Had a lot of fun and learnt a lot. I booked this as a gift for my mum and it was a really nice activity to do with someone else. The teacher was really helpful and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Doing the workshop in the shop made me feel ready to get started on my own straight away as everything was to hand. Overall I’d say extremely good value for money and I prefer the private lesson as I didn’t feel like I couldn’t ask the teacher questions with the worry I’d be slowing down the class for others.

I took my 3yr old to the Clay Monster Making class. Katrina (the teacher) was absolutely brilliant, she was very friendly and explained about the different types of air drying clay, she showed examples of what the monsters could look like, how to make various elements of the monster and also reminded us that it's all about using our imagination and have fun which is what we wanted. I will definitely book more classes and will recommend to friends. It was very good value for money, I was even surprised how cheap it was.

The lady running the session was absolutely lovely. She spoke clearly to the kids, explained each step very clearly and helped the youngest child there with moulding the clay. The session itself was brilliant fun, but really we needed it to be a longer than 30mins so the kids had more time to finish the models. We ran over by about 20mins. All four of the kids loved it and can't wait to go to the next workshop!

Family crochet workshop. Tutor was very knowledgeable and patient. Good materials provided which you get to keep. Venue good. We learnt three crochet stitches. This was books at a discounted rate but would have been worth he full undiscounted rate.

The teacher was very patient and explained the basics of crochet clearly with good demonstrations. The wool and crochet hook were fine to learn with. The time went very quickly and I would be happy to pay a little bit more for the workshop and have two hours instead of 90 mins. I feel that I have just learnt enough to try and do some basic crocheting at home I enjoyed the workshop and thought it was good value for money.

I took my son with his friend on Saturday 16th March to make his easter bonnet. The lady holding the class was very friendly and welcoming as soon as we got there. She was very helpful throughout and interacted with the children well. I'll definatly be booking another course as its a very good price. Thank you!

My granddaughter (3yrs), really enjoyed this workshop. She especially liked all the coloured gems and self adhesive flowers that were available to adorn her bonnet. The curly pipe cleaner flower stems are ingenious! The use of glue guns (by the adults), was well worth it as everything stayed in place. Well done to Hobbycraft, and Katrina our workshop instructor.

I was the only one in the class which was rather a shame!
The teacher was very friendly and helpful.
As we just used items from the kit to stick onto the wreath I could easily have done this at home, without paying for the class.
It would have been helpful to have some completed wreaths to look at for ideas and guidance.

We concentrated on design space and she was able to answer all my queries on terminology, materials etc. Time went really fast so I’ll definitely be booking again once I’ve had a play around with my new Cricut. Great session with Steph at Hobbycraft in Romford. She was clear and patient and myself and my daughter can now do double and treble crochet stitches. We will continue to practice and plan to do the granny square session in future. We came away with a nice tote bag containing our 2 balls of wool and hook which were included in the session.

My tutor was Stephanie, she was patient and attentive as I was trying to learn how to crochet a granny square and I did think afterwards I need another class as an hour wasn't really long enough unfortunately.

I have to say overall it was a nice event but it really put a sour taste in my mouth as the session was not able to start on time. I booked this session as part of a Christmas gift for my child and her friend. The session started 15mins late, which cut our time short. This was a paid for session and I feel a bit short changed. The previous session was still going on when I arrived at 10.50am and I feel like this is the time they should of been packing up. The table was also dirty at the beginning and throughout the session and Katrina had no time to reset.

This being said, Katrina absolutely turned my feelings around, she was very engaging with the children and adults. Her demotrations were easy to follow. She is a real asset to your company.

I would like to book more sessions but I would hate for the tardiness to happen again, I feel like session times should be addressed when planning future schedules.

Margie was an excellent teacher ensuring they we were doing everything properly. She monitored how we were holding the crochet needle at all points to ensure our stitches were good. Marjie was fabulous as a tutor and so patient. Tried to learn from friends and family but never succeeded but I came away knowing 2 of the main stitches and how to hold my yarn.
Well worth the £17 as that included the products needed and the tutor. I shall be booking more classes as a result

Everything was ready when we arrived and the teacher was waiting for us. She even remembered us from the previous year. She explained everything well. The materials were good and there was plenty of them. We painted ceramic baubles and made stars. A great family activity for young and old. The teacher was very good with the 4 year old in our group. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time making the Christmas clay Santa. The teacher was very friendly and gave us lots of time to make Santa. She was genuinely interested in hearing about our other craft projects that we do outside. The materials were great, and we even got to take the leftover clay home to make another character. Teacher was very good as were the materials. However, was badly let down by the venue. We were crammed into a tiny space with not enough room at the table. If my friend, who had booked but was unwell
had turned up, there would not have been room for her at the table. The table was too high to sit at and work comfortably and the underneath was used as storage so you couldn't get your legs under, all of which made it very difficult for anybody to work at, particularly me being on crutches. There was also fabric being stored on top of the already too small table.

I had a great time on Monday at the Romford store. The teacher was great and was able to show us in depth how to do the advent calendar. Time ran over though so we couldn't finish, having said that I am a slow learner so I would have needed extra time anyway :). There are certainly enough materials in the box with some left over. I thought the cost of the class was well worth it. I have not yet finished my calendar so no photos. Really pleased I went.

Margie, our teacher was very patient with this project. It took her 20 minutes to prepare all the lengths of cord needed to hang the advent bags. Glueing the eucalyptus stems was a little fiddly. I felt that a different style of stem (or indeed a 2nd eucalyptus stem), would have produced a 'fuller look' on the wreath. Neither myself nor the other participant completed the project in the given time (1 hour). We took our remaining materials home with us to complete our wreath, along with all the instructions from Margie.

Katrina taught me very well and shown me different types of vinyl, she has shown me an app called cricut where she taught me on how i can create my own designs.
She taught me how to iron a design on any items (E.g bags and christmas stockings). I had a great time, enjoyed the workshop and it was all worth it. Katrina has been a fantastic trainer. Will definitely recommend it.

My 9 year old daughter and I really enjoyed our beginners crochet class with Stephanie. She was lovely, very patient and good at explaining and showing us as we have never done any crocheting before. We learnt how to make a slip knot, chain stitch and double crochet. My daughter loves her new skill and hasn't stopped crocheting all weekend!

The class included two yarns, a hook and a print out of the instructions which I thought was great value.

I have done lots of knitting over the years but never got around to trying out the technique of intarsia ( working picture designs into knitwear ), so I decided to get some one to one tuition as this can be quite fiddly to master. I found the lesson to be helpful and the tutor Stephanie was very patient and friendly.
The only thing I found that wasn't ideal was the lack of privacy. The lesson took place at the back of the store which lead to a few short interruptions from other customers who were initially unaware that I was receiving private tuition.
Overall however it was well worth the experience.

My son loved the Halloween Clay Workshop. He attended with his Nan and said the lady running it was nice and helpful. I love the fact it is a small group as my child is SEN. I went in with a little bit of knowledge and a lot of confusion. Katrina explained in great detail equiment i should use. and showed me all the features on the workspace in great detail explaining what each one does. I have come out of the workshop with better knowledge and less confusion. On my circut knowledge.

Took my grand daughter, who has recently turned 3, to her first Hobbycraft workshop today. There were only 3 children in attendance which was great as she didn't feel overwhelmed being in a large group. Each child was given the opportunity to choose their own coloured pipe cleaners, beads, feathers and size of bell. The instructions given by Margie were clear and simple and the 30 minute session was about the right amount of time. At the end Margie told us if we bought any of the materials used in the workshop we would get a 10% discount.
My grand daughter enjoyed the experience and I will definitely be bringing her along to another. Well done Hobbycraft!

Would suggest a better quality wool as the one supplied (Women's institute) kept separating.

Maybe hand out a beginners pattern (blanket/hat) at the end as I don't want to buy a book. If i'd been given a pattern i would have bought some wool & hook.

I attended a Hobbycraft workshop for pen pot making, and overall, the host was friendly, welcoming, and communicative. They delivered the instructions effectively and provided assistance to those who needed help with tricky parts. However, there was an issue with the lack of resources, as there were only 1 pair of scissors for 4 children participating. This led to three children waiting while one cut their cup, which was disappointing. Considering the £8 per child charge, I left feeling that the session wasn't well-prepared. If this lack of preparation persists in the future, I may not sign up for another workshop.

The kids enjoyed the workshop and the teacher was really friendly as well. I think for a clay making workshop, 30 mins was very less time and because we didn't have an eye on the watch, we were abruptly told that the time is up and the next class is waiting. I think a little heads up would have been nice so we could wrap up properly and didn't have to rush the kids to collect their materials and move.

My initial impression was feeling uplifted, as the wind chime looked simple enough for a young child to make easily and simultaneously very eye catching and attractive. Our teacher ensured that all participants were invited to choose colours and materials and therefore made them feel welcome. It was quick and fun , all round a great activity .

I had a fantastic time, the tutor was really knowledgeable and very patient with me when I kept mucking up the wool and getting it wrapped around my fingers. She was excellent at showing the stitches to me again and made sure I understood what I was doing before moving onto the next part. I did not feel under any pressure, or rushed at all.

Our 1st time on hobbycraft session-wasn't too bad actually. We learnt a good new trick on the canvas painting which was quite helpful. The instructor lady was sweet and very helpful. Venue was nice but the table was placed into a corner which didn't feel too comfortable - could have been a bit cosy for the kids. Overall good experience. I have booked 2 more sessions in the coming months. Fingers cross!

Class started 8 minutes late as the lady was winding up the class before ours. Lucky us it was just us attending the Doodle Art class… My son is on the spectrum. The lady conducting the session was very long, encouraging, motivating and appreciative of his work. She gave him 3 sheets to do to complete the 1 hour class. We had a good time. Definitely recommend this and will be coming to attend more class at Hobby Craft. Thank you Hobby Craft for being accommodating.

Was very short. Like 15mins tops. Literally heres the clay, roll a ball, make a hole and some bits to go around the top. There didn't seem to be a plan of how to transport what we made home we had to ask for bags. I wouldn't recommend to be honest. Could just buy the clay and take it home if you really wanted to make things out a clay.

A fun Little workshop for young children. My two girls (6 and 4) who both enjoy crafting had fun. It was long ans simple enough to keep them busy and engaged but not too long as kids tend to get bored quickly! A Great Session and the host was very accommodating and interacted well with my kids. My son has autism and I wasn’t sure how the class would be as this was our first time at Hobby Craft in a shop setting, new place at a peak hour on a Sunday.

The lady conducting the class was very kind and helpful. She was understanding, patient and encouraging towards my son.

My son was able to focus and complete the task. I am so proud of him. Thank you Hobby Craft for offering such classes to provide experience to our children.

My Teacher was very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable and at ease to just have a go. Although my own make of Sewing Machine was not available to actually use on the demo she made sure to bring over my machine so she could show me the corresponding functions as we went along to make sure I didn't get confused which helped enormously and her instructions were clear. The Venue was perfect for me and I was delighted to receive some pre printed material on which to practice my stitches and to get proper control of the machine as I had never used a Sewing Machine before. She ran through the correct threading of the Machine and Bobbin and also gave some helpful tips on tension and stitch sizing. She also welcomed me back anytime I had any questions and could pop in and see her.

I wasn’t as quick to pick it up as I’d have liked and as such could probably have done with an extra half hour on the course. Katrina my teacher was amazing. She answered my questions about weeding in terms I could understand. She went through the whole process but by bit so that I was able to follow each stage. I realized I had been doing a process completely wrong and she showed me the correct way without criticizing me. She was very knowledgeable about cricut and I will have no qualms about asking her if I have a problem. The lesson was well worth the money.

Loved my first Christmas wreath making class with Katrina. Everything I needed supplied including tools. My daughter in law and I had a great time.
It was much better than we expected and the presentation, quality and quantity of the items supplied was very impressive.
The teacher, Katrina, was lovely. She was helpful and knowledgeable of the items available and where they were to be located in the store. She helped when we asked or otherwise just supported and encouraged.
The location of the table was a little cramped and customers continued to reach into the area for knitting wool which was adjacent.
Our workshop was filling baubles. Although, the teacher showed us pictures of some that had been done previously it would have been nice to have some examples actually on the table.
But, overall, a lovely experience.

My teacher was absolutely wonderful and polite friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond and because of her I have confidence in applying again for a workshop.

It was my first one so it was great to have this experience 1-1 with her.

Loved the kit and what I got in it, but the items could have more colour integrated like the diff colour pumpkins or the leaves could have more glitter or little embellishments that are red or purple or orange to accent the colours of Halloween.

Had a very knowledgable Teacher Catriona.
Just needed the basics to start off and wanted to learn specifically more about personalising clothing and materials wood etc.
Could do with a more closed off space away from public instead of in the middle of shop (Romford) as was disturbed by a customer asking questions!
All in all a very interesting 1 hours training.

I loved by Crochet class with Marjie. She was very knowledgeable and put me at ease about learning something completely new.
The kit had two balls of wool, a crochet hook and a guide to crochet (which I'll use to refresh my knowledge at home) and Marjie gave me extra helpful information to make me better. I left feeling very confident and excited about my new ability.
I would definitely recommend this class to anyone looking to learn Crochet.

The teacher was great. She ensured everyone was able to complete each step and helped the girls when needed. She worked at the right pace but was aware all the time where each child was
The materials used were good and easy to manage
The area used was fairly quiet not many people passing by which helped with the girls concentration
The girls really enjoyed the experience and were keen to talk about what they had made
Hoping to make something else at home and have more equipment for them to use as used voucher to purchase different colours
It was a free activity this time and the girls had the teachers attention as the number was small only 4 children together with supporting adults and older sister
The girls learnt to make a couple of sea creatures
Would definitely book another free session if offered

My workshop had to be rearranged following the tutor not being available, I was contacted by Katrina to book a new date and she also was my new tutor, she was very friendly and informative making the experience fun.
I think that the equipment provided was really good (and you get to take it home, win win) 10 colours were included, I personally would have liked maybe a yellow or orange included (I like bright colours)
Overall a good experience and one that I would recommend.

My son took part in the Cricut Mug class, which was a great class taught by Katrina. We was lucky that he was the only person in attendance and really got to have some 1-2-1 time learning about the different elements of creating and using the mug press. She’s super patient and encouraging too

Amazing class for the price. My 3 year old throughly enjoyed the pottery painting class. She had a choice of a unicorn or dinosaur.

Amy was a fab teacher in the 1 hour time slot
We started by drawing a bee then Amy explained about colour washing etc
I wrote a few things down to remember after the class I bought better quality paints and brushes not only because Amy discussed the paint qualities
But if this is something I would like to continue so I purchased them
I found HobbyCraft to be full of wonderful things
I do feel the classes need to be longer

We had a really lovely session at the Romford branch today. My daughter painted a canvas of a llama and she enjoyed every moment. The session leader, Marjie, was just wonderful. She was gentle and engaging and helped my daughter mix the paints into all sorts of colours. It was great value for money and we are now continuing the art theme with a little unicorn we bought before leaving the shop. Thanks so much hobby craft

We attended the Easter Bonnet workshop. My little boy loved it, Amy was very good with him. He loved sticking everything to it.

Where the session was located could be improved. It was on the shop floor in a corner with not a lot of space. I had another child in his pram and then we had shoppers trying to look at items on shelves.

Very good value. I was asked what I specifically wanted to concentrate which was good. She explained everything in detail and demonstrated what could be achieved with the machine. I would definitely sign up for another class to concentrate on other things that can be achieved on a Cricut. The hour passed very quickly and I feel more confident about tackling a project.

The teacher was great & very patient & answered all questions on a personal basis.
Venue was fine. It was a small class of 4 people at a table. We didn't need anything else and there was no background noise to interfere with the class.
I loved the materials & coloured pens in the pack.
I thought the class was very good value for money, particularly when I opened the box & saw all the supplies we were given. I just wished the class was for 2hrs & not one as it went so fast and I found myself rushing the exercises as was aware we only had one hour to learn the technique.
Brush lettering is sooooo much harder than it looks & its def a case of practice will make perfect.
I would recommend the class to others no problem as an introduction to Brush lettering.

A follow on workshop with Francesca to continue learning about vinyl lettering. After creating the lettering on vinyl we went through the weeding process, using the transfer sheet and sticking them onto a surface. Very helpful and it's certainly inspired me to learn more !

Francesca the tutor was very patient and helpful and gave me a good overview of how to create some vinyl lettering to make a sign for my daughter's wedding. As a complete novice I used this workshop as an initial 'how to' guide with a specific project in mind and Francesca helped me through this process and more. I will book a follow on workshop to continue the learning process.

Thank you. Firstly there was a technical problem with the machine which was quickly resolved. I then realised that the things that were being shown I already knew. No one’s fault. I assumed I would find out about cleaning the machine and other maintenance etc. this workshop was directed for absolute beginners.

However the young lady was very helpful.

I left after 25 minutes.

Loved this class , lianna was lovely, I was a late due to heavy traffic, but she still took the time to cover all I needed to know. I'm left handed so had to adapt and will need more practice but managed to produce 2 acceptable ornaments although basic I will add to them when I have more time. I was given lots of advice and tips and look forward to finishing the remaining ones

Katrina the teacher was fantastic. Friendly, helpful, fun and went over and above. Would highly recommend her. Great workshop and very good value for money. Loved how the kit was packaged, it was like it was Christmas.
I still need lots of practice but came away with everything I needed to do so.
If I had one negative, it would be how cold the venue was. Unfortunately the doors at Romford store are broken & stay fully open. It was a very cold day and where we were sitting was directly in line with the doors (albeit upstairs on mezzanine). At the end, my hands were so cold, I couldn’t hold the pens properly, and having arthritis in my hands, the cold made them extremely painful. Therefore making the writing difficult for me.
That said, overall the session was great and I would recommend. Look forward to booking other events in the near future.

We had a fantastic time decoupaging the deer head. The group was adequate and the store manager knowledgeable and friendly. Only issue was it was so cold in store and the doors were wide open (apparently the heating is broken). I am battling cancer so the cold is an issue but I was particularly cold. Otherwise a fab morning.

The box of resources provided were a little boring and not particularly good value however Katrina did provide us with some card toppers from the shop floor which for a minimal cost to hobbycraft made all the difference to our cards.
I did enjoy the hour long workshop however I think that it is a little overpriced, I think that £20 would have been a fairer price.

This was excellent both in quality of goods and value for money. This is the first workshop I have attended and look forward to attending more in the future.

Teacher was welcoming and friendly making it easy for my child to warm to them. The place was clean and all materials were provided. My child enjoyed the activity and we found this worth while especially for the price.

Workshop was not long enough to be honest didn’t get much painted. Also expected to see a collage of ideas for inspiration there were none! Basically given the box and told to get on with it. No tips. Some embellishments (to buy) on table would have been nice took

I had a great time. I was concerned as I was the only person doing the class on the day. But the teacher (Marci) was very friendly and made me feel welcome. She explained clearly what we were going to do and then demonstrated each step of the way. She even took time to show me how to make a bow for my wreath which I always find difficult.

A really enjoyable workshop. I especially liked that the materials came in a box that was large enough for the finished wreath - very helpful for storing it in future so we can use it every year.
Having individual materials was great, and the time allocated was just right.
Katrina the teacher was lovely, really welcoming and gave some good ideas.

The teacher was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to answer my questions clearly. The area was very clean and tidy, unfortunatley we were at the front of the store and a few times other customers interupted us. I was expecting a practical demonstration, so was dissapointed not to get one.

1. Katrina didnt introduce herself at the beginning.
2.K kept stopping to serve customers in the store.
3. The hour wasn't long enough & session not tailored to a beginner. It needed better planning i think.
4. K was racing through doing things on design space so quickly. Had to keep stopping her to ask questions
5. K was friendly & all my questions were answered in the end.

the store assistant was very friendly. But was not very helpful in terms of teaching the children, would like to see more learning how to paint and how to do the shades.
