What you'll do
If you're craving some delicious dumplings and would love to know how to make them yourself, this Chinese cooking class in London is for you! Under the guidance of an experienced cook, you'll learn everything you need to make a variety of dumplings in a relaxed, informal environment.
During this half-day cooking class, you'll be learning how to make these popular dumpling varieties in a cosy, home-style kitchen atmosphere. Your knowledgeable host will cover ingredients and where to source them, cooking equipment and cooking methods whilst showing you how to prepare four deliciously different types of dumplings, along with two varieties of dough for the wrappers.
Your menu will be made up of the four most popular types of dumpling: prawn dumplings (har gow), siu mai (open topped steamed pork & prawn dumplings), gyoza/potstickers and jiao zi (the ubiquitous Chinese dumpling!). Vegetarian/vegan alternatives are also available — just let your teacher know when you're booking and they'll take care of you. All dumplings will be sampled as you go, washed down with complimentary Chinese teas, with any extras available to take home and enjoy with friends or family.
Don't worry if you're not a dab hand in the kitchen, as you'll have the full support of your friendly host during this beginner-friendly cooking class. You'll leave with a belly full of incredible eats, plus the newfound know-how to recreate them yourself at home.

Hello! I'm a first generation BBC (British born Chinese). My father immigrated here in the 1960's and has opened 2 restaurants. The first was a generic Chinese restaurant (it was the 70's after all) that was torn down to make way for a shopping mall, and the second was considered to be one of the first specialist Chinese joints opened in the UK, a Szechuan/Peking (before being renamed Beijing) restaurant in the 80's. As is customary with Chinese families, children are considered free labour so I worked part-time at this restaurant during my school days and started off helping out in the kitchen which is where I wrapped my first dumpling! This was a 鍋貼 (translation: wor tip - literally a potsticker!) and I've never stopped making dumplings ever since. I would love to introduce you to the same delights and show you how quick and easy to make them in your own home.
