What you'll do

Ever been interested in working with your hands on woodworking projects? Join friendly teacher and trained 3D workshop instructor, Sami for a whole day exploring DIY skills in their Farsley design studio.

This DIY workshop is a fun and educational experience, the perfect place for beginners to pick up new skills for the first time. Sami will teach you about different types of wood, hand tools, power tools and laser cutting technology whilst creating your own wine or gin rack.

Sami's passion is teaching and empowering others to use power tools and DIY techniques so that you can go home with all the confidence and knowledge you need to create your own DIY projects.

In this DIY woodworking class you will learn how to:

Use a chop saw.
Set up and use a pillar drill: countersink/ Forstner bits/ hole saws/ pilot holes.
Gluing and screwing techniques.
How to use a laser cutter to personalise your product.
How to finish your product with a danish oil or a wood stain/dye or paint.

Sami graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2012 with a Ba Hons Degree in Product and Furniture Design.

Sami is a qualified Product Designer and Workshop Instructor.

Her creative practice combines digital fabrication and traditional woodwork techniques to create bespoke products.

Sami has worked as a Workshop Instructor in Schools, Colleges and Universities. She has helped numerous students bring their ideas to life using various power tools and manufacturing processes.

She has also been running her own product design business Just Lovett Design since 2018.

Sami's passion is teaching people how to be creative which is why we offer such a wide range of creative workshops.

Sami and her team teach creative workshops and corporate team building days where they teach a wide range of skills and activities to empower her students to design and make their own personalised products!

Just Lovett Workshops is a sustainably focussed Design Studio and Workshop in Farsley, Leeds.
