If you're keen to get in on the satisfying and creative hobby of rug tufting, this workshop in Leeds is the place to be! This beginner-friendly session covers the foundations of rug making, teaching you how to operate a power tufting machine, overviewing the trimming process, and introducing you to various finishing techniques.
Don't worry about feeling overwhelmed either, as you'll have plenty of support from your friendly hosts, who'll be there to make sure everything goes smoothly.
By the end of this 3.5-hour session, you'll have a comprehensive understanding of rug tufting and a beautiful, handmade rug to call your own. You'll work on a frame that accommodates pieces up to 40 x 40cm, and you're free to choose any design you'd like for your rug. It's recommended that you choose a design with fewer details for an easier first-time experience.
Choosing your design:
When selecting your design, your teacher recommends simplicity and a maximum of 5 colours for best results. Remember, your design's dimensions can be customised to better suit its shape.
Please send the teacher your chosen design at least 8hrs before your workshop date to give them ample time for preparation and setup.

Lulu did a clear sketch on the fabric so I could follow and colour inside the lines with the tufting gun. The crafting space is lovely and spacious and there loads of wonderful wool colours to choose from. This is a really fun class where you come away with a fun make at the end of it. I’d highly recommend this!

It was a nice and relaxed atmosphere, the teachers were super friendly and helped guide you through the process. It's in a really ideal location, just a few minutes from the station so easy to find if you live in Leeds and really perfect spot on to plan a day trip around if you don't. Tufting is so fun and I would love to have another go and book with these guys, for sure. I recommend everyone come and give it a go!

That was really cool. I made a Pokémon rug and my partner made a pineapple Teacher was fantastic; incredibly knowledgeable and helpful but not micromanaging us. She was there to help if needed but let us get on with it. Materials and tools were well organised, clean and accessible. Would highly recommend The class as a cute date idea or just something to do with friends. We did it as a birthday activity and had a great day out in Leeds and ended it with rugmaking. Great fun

Our mission is to create a comfortable place for you to gain a new skill and in the meanwhile, to have quality time with your friends/families. We believe everyone has a sense of creativity, with our unique teaching method and guidance, you can turn all your ideas into something meaningful no matter if you are the most confident artist or someone who never thought they could make anything. Tufting is indeed a dusty and messy activity, however, it is always satisfying to see something beautiful come out of it :)
