What you'll do

Have you always wanted to learn how to use power tools and DIY skills to complete your own projects to brighten up your home?⁠ This DIY workshop is a brilliant way to learn how to get to grips with everything you'll need to work with wood in your own home.

In this class, you'll be using a variety of skills and tools to create a beautiful bath caddy from reclaimed wood pallets.

Hosted by a friendly tutor, this DIY workshop is a unique educational and creative experience, and is suitable for complete beginners. So don't worry if you have never done any DIY before. At the end of the day, you will feel empowered with your new skills, power tool knowledge and your own handmade wooden product to be proud of.⁠

In this DIY workshop you will learn how to:

Take pallet wood and turn it into a beautiful product.
Measure and mark out your timber.
Use a chop saw.
Set up and use a pillar drill with different drill bits.
How to use a power sander.
How to use a power drill to drill and screw.
Sanding techniques
Gluing and screwing techniques
How to use a laser cutter to personalise your product.
How to finish your product with Danish oil or wood stains/dyes.

There will be refreshment breaks throughout the day, and lunch is included to help keep you going throughout your experience.

Please let your teacher if you have any dietary requirements so that we can cater for your needs.

Sami graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2012 with a Ba Hons Degree in Product and Furniture Design.

Sami is a qualified Product Designer and Workshop Instructor.

Her creative practice combines digital fabrication and traditional woodwork techniques to create bespoke products.

Sami has worked as a Workshop Instructor in Schools, Colleges and Universities. She has helped numerous students bring their ideas to life using various power tools and manufacturing processes.

She has also been running her own product design business Just Lovett Design since 2018.

Sami's passion is teaching people how to be creative which is why we offer such a wide range of creative workshops.

Sami and her team teach creative workshops and corporate team building days where they teach a wide range of skills and activities to empower her students to design and make their own personalised products!
