Recent reviews of Beginners' Large Rug Tufting Workshop

  • 5/5 from Jade Latham, attended Jun 2026: Would highly recommend. We did the large rug and they're not kidding when they say it's a full day! Everything is explained to you in depth but then you're just left to get on with things which is fantastic (unless you need anything help/advice as we did aha!) Again would highly recommend going!
  • 5/5 from Zeke Goodyear, attended May 2026: Alex was a great instructor, he was clear and concise in the demo and was able to provide any support we needed. Thanks again!
  • 5/5 from Jessica North, attended May 2026: Thoroughly enjoyed :)
  • 5/5 from Diana Stefanescu, attended Nov 2025: We had SO much fun, would definitely recommend the workshop. We did the large rug and would definitely recommend going medium or large to start with, as it gives you more time to get used to the tools. We'll definitely do it again!
  • 5/5 from Vivien Szelpal, attended Sep 2025: I had such an amazing time! I am itching to go back to another session.
  • 5/5 from Vanda Lambton, attended May 2025: We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Once we had learnt the basics it was quite easy to complete our designs and we’re pleased with the final results which look professional. We were on the full day workshop. Better ventilation when the backing glue was used would be good. There was a pub opposite where we were able to have lunch.
  • 5/5 from Macy, attended Oct 2024: Alex was a great teacher. Helped my and my girlfriend constantly throughout a long 9 hour carpet making session. The class is small and homely probably wouldn’t fit more than 5 students. The rug itself is great quality and looks great. If you order a large rug expect a long session, not to say that’s it’s not still very fun and therapeutic.
  • 5/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Apr 2024: Alex was a great teacher and the workshop has made me want to get into tufting seriously!
  • 5/5 from Kirsty Spencer, attended Mar 2024: Alex was a great teacher, he explained and demonstrated the tools and processes clearly and then let me get on with it, popping up with helpful tips and yarn detangling as needed throughout the day. The technique is pretty easy to get the hang of once you get going. All the materials were provided and lots of choice was available. I didn't send through an image in advance which made the start of the workshop slower as Alex had to transfer an image while I waited. The venue is easy to find using sat nav. There was no onsite parking and other local carparks were already full by 10am on a week day. I parked at Cardigan Fields about a 12 minutes walk away. I was at the studio for around 9 hours in total for my large rug, making the course great value for money, however I was exhausted at the end and found it quite physically taxing! Trimming the rug was more difficult and I created some pretty uneven bits, so I would consider paying the extra money for Alex to do it for me if I was going again. I'm absolutely thrilled with what I achieved as a beginner though!
  • 5/5 from James Johnson, attended Mar 2024: Was a brilliant birthday present and resulted in wonderful large rugs! Would recommend to anyone!
  • 5/5 from Jaime Barber, attended Jan 2024: Brilliant course. Alex was a fantastic teacher, very patient and made the day really fun. I had a great day, venue was really easy to get to by public transport which is handy if you dont drive. Cups of tea and venue was friendly and cosy. Went home after one day course with a rug I am really proud of having never done tufting before. Recommend to everyone! Ill be back

We’re a Wakefield-based studio offering rug tufting workshops and commissions. Coming from a background completely unrelated to crafts, we discovered our passion for tufting and established Huffletuft in 2022. Rug tufting is a fun and incredibly rewarding craft, and we wanted to provide a space where anyone could come to experience it. Many of our customers have told us they find it to be very therapeutic and a great stress reliever – and the best part is, you get to take home your own handmade rug at the end!
We love teaching others and seeing all the beautiful rugs you create in our studio. Tufting is a highly versatile art, and you can make a wide variety of items at our workshop, from small accessories to large decorative pieces.
Please note that for group bookings, you can book different items for the same session – just go to the different item pages and choose the same start time, then book the items separately.
Anyway, that’s enough about us – come and book your workshop now!
