Art Therapy and Sand Play Course

This is a six week Saturday art therapy workshop with a focus on sand play, this small group class, limited to a maximum of six children, allows them to delve into their imagination and explore different worlds through the medium of sand. Led by a welcoming and experienced art therapist, this therapeutic group provides a safe and supportive space where the children can freely express themselves and delve into their creative depths.

During this workshop, they will have the opportunity to work as a small group and in pairs, taking turns to create various scenarios and narratives in the sand trays.
With a variety of small figures, objects, and props at their disposal, they will be able to bring their visions to life and observe the unique worlds that emerge.

This collaborative approach encourages them to share their thoughts, observations, and ideas, fostering a sense of connection and exploration among the group.

We will focus on exploring sand play as a therapeutic technique and its potential for self-discovery and growth and for developing positive relationships.

The art therapist will guide the children through the process, offering insights and facilitating meaningful discussions.
This workshop provides a wonderful opportunity for the children to not only gain a deeper understanding of their inner world but to connect with each other and learn more about this unique form of expression.

The experience may evoke a range of emotions, from curiosity and excitement to introspection and reflection we encourage group discussion and explorarion of all the themes emerging in the play..

We hope that by the end of the workshop, they will leave with a sense of fulfilment and a newfound appreciation for the magic power of sand play. While this class does not require any prior art therapy experience, it is open to children and families who are curious about exploring their inner selves through art.

  Welcome to bring your own interesting figures, objects, crystals anything you wish to add your sand tray but we have a good collection here too!
 

This class series runs over 6 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
