Mosaic Workshop

Create your own unique mosaic artwork.

2 hours Class size 1 to 11     label £40

In this exciting workshop, you will learn how to turn mosaic tiles, broken crockery, and other upcycled pieces into beautiful works of art. Led by the talented artist and maker Kim Searle from Darn It Workshops, you will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of base shapes and learn the best adhesives to use for each one.

Don't worry if you're a beginner – this workshop is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels. Kim will guide you through the process step-by-step, ensuring that you feel confident and supported throughout.

During the workshop, you will have the chance to unleash your creativity and explore different design possibilities. Working with mosaic materials can be incredibly therapeutic and rewarding, allowing you to express yourself artistically while creating something unique.

At the end of the workshop, you will be provided with a bag of grout to take home, allowing you to finish your mosaic pieces at a later date. A demonstration will be given to show you exactly how to use the grout for a polished and professional finish.

Please note: Parking can also be tricky in Cathays, so please read their Contact Us page for directions and travel recommendations.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.

I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!

I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
