We were told how to finish our soap and the time it takes to mature. I really like that we were given the ingredients and material to put our soap in once cut, great for gifting. It would have been even better if the teacher had introduced themselves with the rest of our group.

This fit quite well into my plans. Starting with learning to make soap with all natural ingredients was something I have been looking forward to for quite some time. Although, I was the only one for the lesson, Kate did not cancel the lesson, which I really appreciate. She hosted the event at her home, and provided with all PPE. She was quite cautious about the possibility of any dangers due to the saponification reaction and explained step by step what to do and what not to do during the demonstration as well as when she let me make my batch of soap under her supervision. Absolutely a good value for money, got a bonus to watch how lip balm is made. I quite liked the body butter that she had in her shop and brought some back & love it. She was a brilliant teacher, made you feel comfortable and I quite enjoyed our conversations around sustainability. The experience boosted my motivation to keep trying a new skill every weekend.

• 5/5 from Ellie Reid, attended May 2024: I attended this workshop as part of a birthday gift. The teacher, Karen, was warm and friendly as well as very knowledgeable and passionate about her craft. The class took place in the teacher’s home, overlooking her lovely garden giving a very peaceful, intimate and homely atmosphere. A clear demonstration and instructions were provided throughout the soap making workshop and the materials were easy to use. I have come away from this class with new knowledge not only around the soap making processes itself but also the history behind it, the business side of craft and the secrets of the beauty industry as well. Given the cost of the materials as well as the expert knowledge, the class was good value for money. An additional highlight for me was not only the free tea and cake but also cuddles with Ruby the dog.

I liked the additional information beyond pure soap making – the history of soap and the legal aspects of setting up a soap-selling company in the UK. We also got to take away a good quantity of the soap we made, so felt like very good value.

I was very impresses with her knowledge of the health and safety aspects of soap making and also her knowledge of the legislation surrounding making and selling soap. She managed to make the lesson fun and also simple in essence. The venue was lovely and gave lots of space and fresh air which was needed. The class was excelent value for money. I hope Carol will go on teaching her craft for many years to come so that others can enjou it as we did.

There were lovely little extra touches like baking a homemade cake for us. Everything was so organised. We were gripped throughout and excited to make and take home our own soap ready to cut. Would highly recommend.

Everything that we needed was provided and she guided us through the process smoothly. We each left with our soap and a lip balm, which she also demonstrated.

The home made cake was much appreciated and delicious along with a cup of tea during our break. I can’t wait to try out my homemade soap when it is ready in a few weeks. I also bought another product in the gift shop which I’m looking forward to trying. Thankyou very much for hosting such a fabulous workshop!

You then have the opportunity to create your own soap with all the materials provided. Karen is very knowledgeable as well as lovely, and I really liked her approach of keeping it simple and accessible. I also liked that she told us about the history of soap making, and about her experience setting up a soap making business. I felt the class was really good value for money, as you get to take away 5 bars of soap, then there's the workshop itself and all the materials needed were included. Overall I found the class really interesting and quite relaxing as well, and getting to cuddle her adorable puppy Ruby was also a huge bonus!
