4 hours Class size 1 to 2     label £40

Join our rag rugging workshop and learn how to transform ordinary rags into beautiful and textural pieces of art. In this open-ended session, you'll discover two versatile rag rug techniques that can be applied to create a variety of items such as wall art, homewares, brooches, and more. Whether you're a beginner or have experience with rag rugging, this class is perfect for you.

During the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to make an abstract piece using the techniques you've learned. Please note that depending on the complexity of your design, you may need to complete it at home. Not to worry, we'll guide you through the process step by step, ensuring that you have all the skills needed to finish your project.

No need to worry about your lunch arrangements either. We'll provide refreshing refreshments to keep you energised throughout the class. However, if you prefer, feel free to bring your own packed lunch or take a little break to grab something from a nearby eatery.

Our aim is to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can explore your creativity and learn something new. You'll work with a variety of materials during the class, which will allow you to experiment and create unique textures in your design.

At the end of the workshop, you'll not only have a beautiful piece of art to take home but also a newfound skill that you can continue to explore and develop. So come and join us for a delightful day of creativity, learning, and fun in our rag rugging workshop.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.

I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!

I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
