Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Had a great evening learning a new skill! There were 4 in our group and we were all complete beginners. Our instructor, Lindsey, started us off with the very basics, how to start off, do a chain, double crochet, triple crochet, and how to finish off. She was very knowledgeable and if we didn't understand she took time to show us individually how to do it. She had a lovely relaxed, friendly and calm style to set us at ease.

Fab class! I have the lesson to my mum for a Christmas gift and brought my three daughter along too. It was lovely to learn something new together. My daughter took part in a 1:1 sewing machine lesson today with Chloe. My daughter wanted to learn the skills of how to set up and use her new sewing machine. I can not speak highly enough of her teacher Chloe! She explained and demonstrated each step in a way that my daughter understood. She had brilliant knowledge and patience that put my daughter at ease. It was very evident Chloe was very knowledgeable and enjoyed passing this knowledge along to my daughter, whilst also encouraging her and building confidence with positive praise! My daughter left with new skills and eager to continue learning more! We will definitely be returning to continue my daughter’s development!

I had a great session with Chloe today at the Woking store! I am a complete beginner and wanted to get into sewing. I'd done a little research for the machine I wanted and Chloe confirmed it would be a good starter. We then started on the fabric worksheets to get used to the machine - Chloe was patient and encouraging throughout and answered all my questions. At the end of the class she spent a little extra time with me explaining what other things would be useful to purchase with the machine. I will be trying my machine next week and may book a further session if I need more help! Would highly recommend.

The venue was okay- was messy in workshop area probably due to previous crafts - only paid £4 class which was very reasonable

A Xmas gift of lesson with daughter.
Teacher Lindsay was very patient, and helped out individually as well as explaining and showing how to start crochet, kept it fun too!
Comfortable and quiet setting upstairs in shop, with background music all good.
The cloth bag of materials we each received was great- crochet hook, 2 big balls of wool, crib notes and stitch counter.
Good value for money, length allowed right for starter lesson.
Enjoyed the easy comfortable manner lesson was held with Lindsay, and that being a small group of 5 we each had plenty of attention to make a good start on our crocheting

The venue was fine but the music was annoying as the volume impaired hearing.

I am a beginner with Cricut and the workshop was a mother day gift from my daughter. Sarah was amazing - she was extremely knowledgable, and even when i was thinking out loud and writing notes she was so patient.
She covered so much content in such a short space of time yet everything made complete sense because she is a natural at teaching.

A true asset to the company.

I will definitely be booking further lessons to cover different cricut techniques.

I signed up for a one to one workshop because I'd bought a new sewing machine from Hobbycraft and was very rusty about using a machine. Mine was very old and difficult to use. The tutor was very friendly and put me at ease straight away. She showed me what to do and then watched as I did it. She showed me the many features of the machine and the different stitches.
There were materials provided to take me through basic stitching etc.
The workshop was in the shop so it was easy to access. I also took advantage of a 20% so it was good value for money.
All in all an excellent and very helpful experience.

Booked a beginners sewing workshop for my daughter as a 10th birthday gift. She’s saved up for her own machine so this was a perfect way for her to learn the basics. Catherine was amazing she explained everything in a way that my daughter could understand and she came away having practiced some techniques and even sewing a zip, and confident to start her own project. I enjoyed the 1:1 session with Sarah (at Woking) whose clear explanations were welcome. A laptop, rather than a tablet, would have improved my experience as that is the screen presentation I am more familiar with on Design Space and will be using in future. We made a cutaway card as I had requested, a gift tag using a vinyl sentiment and I am now more confident in using some of the aspects of Design Space. There is still a huge amount to learn and trial; I may organise another 1:1 session soon.

As a knitter, I’ve tried many times to learn to crochet and failed. So I came to a beginner’s class. Our teacher Lindsey was amazing, friendly, patience, encouraging and knowledgeable. Glowforge aura workshop -
Lovely, lovely girl who took the workshop, very friendly & she made a gift card holder cup.
Very basic introduction to Glowforge & im now not so nervous to unbox my aura.
Did feel we worked out together how to do certain things and it was a little “discover as you go along” rather than comprehensive knowledge on machine demonstration. Would have liked information on machine care & maintenance but this was unknown.
I know this is a fairly new item you are selling but maybe offer the workshop once staff have been able to spend more time on the machine to a more comprehensive level.
All in all a little pricey for the hour travelling & maybe offer back cost of workshop on Glowforge materials?
All in all I’m a little more knowledgable.

Fantastic way to spend a ‘twixmas’ afternoon. Lindsey was a great teacher and made everyone feel at ease. I was there with my 11 year old daughter and the class was great for all ages. The disco ball making held the children’s attention just long enough and was great for fine motor skills and a really fun craft idea.

The string to hold the ball up broke so needs an idea on how to strengthen that.

Had a 1-2-1 session with Sarah this morning who is awesome! Really friendly and went the extra mile to make sure my project came out perfectly. Was using the Cricut machine to do a photo lightbox and she explained how it worked and the other types of projects you can use it for. Between the pair of us we managed to get all three templates cut and ready to go. If you want to have a try of the machines then I can't recommend Sarah highly enough!

Chloe was an absolute pleasure to work with. Her knowledge, demeanour and positivity is infectious. Her smile made my day.
The venue was a bit far out because I live in Basingstoke, however this is the only suitable time for me while my kid is at school.
Stich tests/templates were provided and very helpful.
The experience was good value for money, would’ve been better if it was 1.5hr as sewing time was only 40mins cos of sewing machine chat plus technical difficulties.
I learnt how to set up a sewing machine and did running stitches and zigzag stitches. It gave me a sense of achievement to have accomplished that and I’d book another session to work on the next steps.

The young lady taking the class was lovely however there wasn’t any tuition, it was assumed they knew what to do.
Nice big table, my girls were very happy- plenty of tissue for the house and glue- we took some home to finish it off as an hour isn’t really long enough

My friend and I really enjoyed the autumn wreath making workshop. I will definitely be recommending these workshops to my friends and I have already booked another one with my granddaughters. Today me my daughter and mum all had a crochet lesson with Lindsey well we’re do I start Lindsey made us all feel at ease and relaxed we all had a laugh as my mum is a knitter and said there is no way she will get it but she did my daughter has Austim and anxiety she has tried to teach her self on line but needed help and me well I’ve never done this before but Lindsey helped us all and never once did she mind going over and over what to and showed my mum a different way to get started she is such a lovely patient person and she also said there maybe a crochet club soon hopefully we can join it I would definitely recommend doing a crochet class with Lindsey at Woking hobby craft from Michelle . My tutor Kathrine for a sewing tutorial at Woking branch was brilliant. She explained everything so clearly and in a straightforward way, that enabled me to see what to do immediately. She followed each step up with asking me to try it for myself. Being a complete beginner in using a modern sewing machine (my experience was with a Singer hand machine, made in about 1926), so I was extremely nervous about trying a new model - especially as it had the dreaded phrase "computerised". I quickly discovered there was nothing to be nervous about as Katherine explained everything. I tried threading the machine, using the automatic needle threader, put some thread on a bobbin using the automatic bobbin winder and then tried a couple of embroidery stitches, which the machine also does automatically. It was a great tutorial and I would heartily recommend this to anyone wanting a one-to-one class.

I never thought I’d be able to learn to crochet thanks to the wonderful Lindsey I’ve actually achieved it
There really needs to be a follow on course for this , now I’ve got started I really want to continue with it and would love to progress with the help of the hobby craft team
It would be amazing if they had a crochet club within the shop which I could go along to sit and have coffee and learn with other like minded people
The beginner course was great value for money giving you all the materials you need
Just a little thing it would have been a lovely touch if there was a coffee machine where we could have helped ourselves

I went to this crochet class with zero understanding of the stitches and how they worked, and came out with learning how to start project with chain stitch, and able to do the double and treble stitch. The teacher, Lindsay was great fun, patient and thorough in teaching each one of us on both stitches learnt. We had a good few laughs and learnt as we went. Would definitely recommend as a starter course in crochet .
It would be great to do a follow up course like a intermediate level from this one or like a regular club to attend for people of All skill levels. Unfortunately these options are not available but if they do start I would definitely be interested in them.

I really enjoyed my morning with Lindsey, at beginners Macrame.
I felt she was a very good teacher and patient with me, as I tried to learn the knots. I did feel that there was not enough time to complete the project. I would suggest that it requires 2 hours, as I need to take the flower pot home to complete it.

I signed up for the crochet for beginners class in Woking because I had previously tried to crochet but couldn't get the hang of it. The little group consisted of three additional students. Each of us received a basic kit to take home that included an 8mm hook, two skeins of chunky yarn, and some simple instructions. Lindsay, our tutor, was very patient, clearly explained everything, and offered us one-on-one time when it was necessary. During the one-and-a-half-hour course, we learned how to cast on, make a single chain, double and treble stitch, add a second colour, and cast off.

Doing any kind of workshop with technology is a challenge but Kelly was excellent. She did such a good job demonstrating the Sawgrass that I bought one straight after the workshop. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and even took the printer to my car.

The person doing it was very friendly and nice. But instead of it being an activity I could do with my child we gave the person my daughter name and he typed it into the computer and we were told to have a look around the shop. She wasn’t able to set it out. There wasn’t workshop.

I hoped she would be able to play with the Name fonts, set it out. Play an active role in the creation of her stocking.

Lindley was a fantastic teacher. The class inly had 2 so my daughter got to make lots of Halloween ghosts and bats. Even if there were 5 in the class it still would have been quiet. The clay used was brilliant we even bought some after for home. It is very inexpenseive fun hour for children and they get to take their models home. I would definitely recommend it.

Tutor Ryan was very good. He was well prepared and ready to go. He explained that not all technical demos go according to plan.
He got me to choose the blank I wanted and agreed to use the design I brought along.
Despite infrequent use his demo was very professional and we had a long discussion about the pros and cons of owning a Glowforge.
I think the demo decided me against trying to afford a machine for personal use. Ryan also helped me with other issues - his advice has helped me to get my Hobbycraft club membership reactivated for which I am grateful !

I very much enjoyed this class. Lindsay was friendly and made me feel at ease. Her instructions were clear and concise and I felt happy to give it a go. We did get interrupted a number of times by customer enquires but Lindsay dealt with these in a patient manner, perhaps it would be a good idea to insure an assistant was in the area whilst a workshop was in progress. I would have liked a longer session. I will certainly book further workshops and recommend them to friends.

Great value, nice to paint elsewhere! Staff was very friendly. Smaller chairs ( my son was 2 and a half and it was difficult to reach). Perhaps some structure? It wasn't very engaging; something I could, and have, done at home. Aprons, also? Anything to make it seem more like a class. Some talk about mixing paints or tinting/shading.

Lots of decorations bits for her to choose from .
The only down point is rhat on the day they didn't have the bonnet hat ,so the were given a different hat to use .

The kits provided didn't have glue that worked so the workshop person went and got alternatives that only just worked. I had to assist my 7 yo with everything bent on my knees, I have a chronic pain condition which meant this was agony. The workshop person was nice but it didn't feel like he was leading it. I wouldn't book again

Chloe our tutor is very friendly and put us completely at ease. At first I was concerned that doing the class in the middle of people shopping would be awkward but we were so absorbed and were so enjoying the class that it didn't matter at all. The items that we were provided with were superb and very good value for money. Hope you run some oil and/or water colour classes soon. Thank you for a wonderful session Chloe.

Great event. Instructor took us through all the brush strokes for the alphabet, was well over the stated hour. Equipment all included. It may have been good to have had a copy of the worksheet the Instructor used to see how to construct the letters which may have given us more time to move onto connecting the letters. But overall, a fun afternoon and well worth the fee.

Lindsey was very welcoming and obviously quite expert in her field. I did the beginners crochet class and she was able to explain very clearly how to begin. If I was stuck she sorted me out very quickly. A craft I had struggled to even start in the past was made much easier to achieve.
The materials provided were of good quality and bright colours to make it a fun project and I would say that the workshop is good value for money.
I did enquire to ask if they did an improvers class but sadly it is not offered. If there was one, I'd definitely do it.

Sarah was great and the class gave the attendees a lot more confidence seeing the work in action. I would say that 9am is a struggle with school and morning traffic - 9.30 / 10 would be a perfect time.

It was really great to meet Becca, she was extremely helpful with any questions/showing me what I wanted to learn and gave me the advise to be able to take it away and finish. Also giving me extra resources like mentioning about YouTube videos, books from hobbycraft that are useful and many other suggestions. It did help I was the only person as I found it really gave me the confidence when a few mistakes happened to be able to get it fixed and have Becca explain where I had gone wrong or how it could be fixed etc.

interesting box of materials and facilitator found plenty of extra bits and pieces, including cutter stamps to play with. i had a very enjoyable hour despite being the only person booked on the session. Catherine was very helpful and we chatted a lot .
I had thought there would be more participants but it didn't really matter.

The tutor, Lindsay, was friendly and v patient. She explained everything before we started and was prepared to help us to get the most out of this morning’s Christmas Wreath Making session. She provided us with a natural wreath each in a box with a clear plastic lid so we could keep the resources together in the box inside a Hobbycraft bag - wonderfully organised tutor We had plenty of Christmas items 2 choose from to decorate our own Christmas Wreath + the inclusion of an individual small glue guns was a brilliant idea The venue was ideal-quiet +upstairs@Hobbycraft, Woking 10 -11 a.m. Saturday a.m. with plenty of free parking which made for a relaxing, fabulous learning experience for me Lindsay deserves a medal + I’ll look out for another session run by her again as I really enjoyed the whole experience!

This was my third class with Julie using the Cricut and I’ve learnt so much from her over these sessions. She is such a lovely patient lady who helped me with showing me so many different aspects. This particular class was ‘iron on’ and Julie gave me hidden tips on how to make items successfully! I would highly recommend attending one of these classes, it all makes more sense now! Can’t wait now to use my new skills

Absolutely loved the class, mainly due to the lady (Lindsey) running it. We were a group of 3 and were disappointed to find our boxes hadn’t been delivered. Despite that Lindsey found it all on the shop floor and got us through the class.
The products are great and I really enjoyed the workshop but the only real negative was the time- we had only really just got into it when we had to pack up.
1 hour is definitely not long enough

Great value for money workshop. Friendly member of staff on hand to help. Had a lovely time with my daughter (13) my niece (8) and my sister. Only had time to make one of the cloche decorations but it’s simple enough to do the other at home. Would book again.

Great workshop at Hobbycraft Woking. Our instructor Lyndsey was really helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. She took time to explain all the how's, gave us tips, and share some really good ideas. Our Christmas baubles looked absolutely beautiful. Thank you very much for a great workshop, such good value too. The materials are of high quality, easy to use. The kit has everything you need to get started. After the hour, the whole class went to get more materials, as we enjoyed the class so much. Really happy!

Learning about your new sewing machine Is not just about going through the features but is about getting an understanding of when to use the stitch options and to overcome the trepidation of using them such as the automatic button hole foot. Hobbycraft knows this which is what these sessions give you. I don’t think I would ever have tried the buttonhole four if Lindsay hadn’t shown me how it worked. The best but was once you had it fitted the machine does all the work! What’s not to like about that? And it’s great to have such a knowledgeable guide to show how these things work.

I made an autumn wreath and enjoyed it! I was the only customer with Jadine We had a good chat and she was complimentary about what I made.
It seemed expensive when I booked but there was a lot in the craft box, including a glue gun, so that made it seem much better value.
It would have been good to have a choice of materials to attach to the wreath to give more scope for creativity.

Another extremely informative 1-2-1 @Hobbycraft Woking with Lindsay. We were working on familiarisation of my new sewing machine’s capabilities. I am keen to make the most of what it can do as this means I can get more professional results. Well it was a great learning experience and highly entertaining at the same time. Who knew learning could be so much fun? Mostly down to the quirky translations in the manual. But, with Lindsay’s help, I managed to create a number of different buttonhole shapes and eventually even sewed on a button which was the funniest part of the day. Can’t wait for my next session!

I had a few queries for her which she was able to answer and then she helped me to cut out a Christmas wreath which I hadn't had the confidence to do on my own at home. We ran out of time, but I brought all the bits away with me and will be able to assemble it at home. Julie was able to supply all the materials and work through the project with me.

Another excellent session with Lindsay. Today we focused on pattern matching and given the very busy fabric, this was a challenge but it came out perfectly. I like the pace of the sessions which is just right. I have recently done a workshop elsewhere which felt too rushed so these Hobbycraft workshops give you time to assimilate the learning.

When we opened our package with the material, we found out that the glass of my cloche was broken. Lindsay immediately replaced it. And she even brought us more decoration as there was in the box like glitter.

Lovely teacher who gave many ideas as to how to decorate the cloche. I loved that everything came in a box including a hot glue gun and plenty of material to take home. I am sure I will be making more cloche at home with the left over material.
Very enjoyable hour we had. I will be booking more workshops with Hobbycraft.
One little comment- it would be nice if all material used in the workshop would be available in store to buy after the workshop (in this case cloches). Maybe you could hold some of these materials separately in the future

This is an excellent way to learn to sew. Today I learnt about using patterns. Who would have thought this would be so complicated. I also learned how to do tailor tacks. Lindsay from Hobbycraft is an excellent tutor and has great patience. She demonstrates each step and then lets you have a go. Will definitely be booking more 1-2-1 at Hobbycraft in Woking.

I was looking forward to the class but, due to a booking system failure, the tutor had a double-booking and what should have been a 1:1 session ended up with 3 of us working together. The booking system had not informed the tutor of changes to the bookings which had caused her a worried sleepless night not of her own making.

It got off to a bit of a shaky start as a week before my appointment my teacher contacted me to apologise but she didn't work on the day I was booked in, something to do with central system not knowing shift patterns of staff. I was on holiday at the time so it wasn't until the following week that we were able to rearrange. It then turned out that she was available on the same day albeit at a later time which fortunately I could do. All in all, my teacher was very generous with her time and offered a further session to make sure we got through everything I wanted to know about. She was courteous and friendly throughout and I felt more confident with using my sewing machine afterwards. She also said that if I had any problems to pop into the store and she would try to help which again I thought was very generous and excellent customer service.

Julie was amazing ! Answering any questions I had and showing me new things I could do … I was late due to roadworks … I phoned ahead and this was not a problem at all and julie gave me my full hour even though I was late, which of course she did not need to do it just demonstrated to me her commitment to ensuring customers get their questions answered and gave me time . Julie is an excellent teacher and an asset to hobby craft ! As I continue to learn. I know I’ll be back again for another work shop … thank you Julie you’re a star !

This was my second workshop with Lindsay. Today we looked at sewing patterns. Lindsay was excellent showing me how they worked and giving me a number of v useful tips and tricks. The time flew by and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be booking some more sessions because you really need someone like Lindsay showing you the stuff that you can’t get from YouTube when you are starting out. Highly recommend these sessions to everyone especially beginners.

My 1-2-1 was with Lindsay at Woking Hobbycraft store. Lindsay was very knowledgeable and personable and made a good teacher. I have just got my first sewing machine so wanted to get a good grounding in its use. I was shown how to thread the machine and the bobbin. It’s always good to start with the basics. I did some basic stitches on Hobbycraft provided templates which were excellent for learning on. After the session Lindsay took me round the store and helped me choose tools and necessary items which would be appropriate for my new machine. I enjoyed my first lesson and will be back for more.

Really enjoyed my session on watercolours yesterday. Charlotte was an excellent teacher. Very friendly and knowledgeable. This was my first attempt at watercolours and everything was explained very clearly. Loved the box with all the equipment and feel I now have the knowledge and means to experiment on my own. Charlotte was lovely, very friendly, very enthusiastic and very inspirational. The equipment provided for the course is great which I got to take home. I think the lesson was excellent value for money.
