Doing any kind of workshop with technology is a challenge but Kelly was excellent. She did such a good job demonstrating the Sawgrass that I bought one straight after the workshop. She was very knowledgeable and helpful and even took the printer to my car.

Tutor Ryan was very good. He was well prepared and ready to go. He explained that not all technical demos go according to plan.
He got me to choose the blank I wanted and agreed to use the design I brought along.
Despite infrequent use his demo was very professional and we had a long discussion about the pros and cons of owning a Glowforge.
I think the demo decided me against trying to afford a machine for personal use. Ryan also helped me with other issues - his advice has helped me to get my Hobbycraft club membership reactivated for which I am grateful !

Learning about your new sewing machine Is not just about going through the features but is about getting an understanding of when to use the stitch options and to overcome the trepidation of using them such as the automatic button hole foot. Hobbycraft knows this which is what these sessions give you. I don’t think I would ever have tried the buttonhole four if Lindsay hadn’t shown me how it worked. The best but was once you had it fitted the machine does all the work! What’s not to like about that? And it’s great to have such a knowledgeable guide to show how these things work.

Another extremely informative 1-2-1 @Hobbycraft Woking with Lindsay. We were working on familiarisation of my new sewing machine’s capabilities. I am keen to make the most of what it can do as this means I can get more professional results. Well it was a great learning experience and highly entertaining at the same time. Who knew learning could be so much fun? Mostly down to the quirky translations in the manual. But, with Lindsay’s help, I managed to create a number of different buttonhole shapes and eventually even sewed on a button which was the funniest part of the day. Can’t wait for my next session!

Another excellent session with Lindsay. Today we focused on pattern matching and given the very busy fabric, this was a challenge but it came out perfectly. I like the pace of the sessions which is just right. I have recently done a workshop elsewhere which felt too rushed so these Hobbycraft workshops give you time to assimilate the learning.

This is an excellent way to learn to sew. Today I learnt about using patterns. Who would have thought this would be so complicated. I also learned how to do tailor tacks. Lindsay from Hobbycraft is an excellent tutor and has great patience. She demonstrates each step and then lets you have a go. Will definitely be booking more 1-2-1 at Hobbycraft in Woking.

This was my second workshop with Lindsay. Today we looked at sewing patterns. Lindsay was excellent showing me how they worked and giving me a number of v useful tips and tricks. The time flew by and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be booking some more sessions because you really need someone like Lindsay showing you the stuff that you can’t get from YouTube when you are starting out. Highly recommend these sessions to everyone especially beginners.

My 1-2-1 was with Lindsay at Woking Hobbycraft store. Lindsay was very knowledgeable and personable and made a good teacher. I have just got my first sewing machine so wanted to get a good grounding in its use. I was shown how to thread the machine and the bobbin. It’s always good to start with the basics. I did some basic stitches on Hobbycraft provided templates which were excellent for learning on. After the session Lindsay took me round the store and helped me choose tools and necessary items which would be appropriate for my new machine. I enjoyed my first lesson and will be back for more.
