Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The teacher was nice but I don’t feel she was very confident in what she was showing us. The kids had fun and basically did their own thing.
There was plenty of clay to use in different colours all from fresh packs (so not dried out).

Easter wreath making. Nice lady leading us-didn't really need much tutoring. It was straight forward. Good fun. Could have done with sturdier pieces to stick on-very hard sticking on individual dried grass blades.

Due to bad traffic we arrived over an hour late for our class. The manager was lovely and very understanding, she got a colleague Grace, to hold the wreath making session for us. Grace was super, very creative and talented. All materials were provided. Overall good value for money and a nice hour of creativity. Thank you Hobbycraft Epping Forest.

I’m new to sewing, with a new machine. I was having problems with setting up the machine, and the workshop helped me to diagnose the problem. Cheryl was great, and really helpful. All the staff at Epping Forest Hobbycraft in Loughton are fantastic.

The Teacher, Michelle, was very friendly and efficient. She made me feel at ease and confident that I would, in time, master the art of Brush Lettering.
The brushes and papers provided were good quality and comfortable to handle. The Class was good value for the money and best of all was the one to one tuition as I am partially deaf and as Michelle’s instructions and tuition were clear I did not need to mention this fact at all.

I bought my sewing machine from Hobbycraft specifically because of the workshops. I really needed the help to get set up with using the machine. The workshop was easy to book, and the instructor was very friendly and helpful. She asked me what I wanted to learn, and she took me through the set up at my pace. I thoroughly recommend the workshops if you are buying a machine and are new to using them.

My child enjoyed the class and that's the most important, but the materials weren't well thought out, there were no brown/grey clay for the reindeer no pink and not enough red for the Santa to accommodate 4 children, so they ended up with all kind of coloured figures, so not too Christmassy.

Everything and everyone was lovely. The biggest disappointment is that there wasn’t enough time to dry the painted baubles, therefore, they got terribly smudged and children got upset.

My son really enjoyed the class. However, being that they knew how many children were booked in, they should have had all the tools needed for each child.
We were originally made to share the glue until the lady decided to bring extras out.
Overall good class. Great that they offer these classes and even better, no tidying up after.

Had a great time at the windchime making workshop today!

The teacher was so kind and patient. She was great at showing us a step by step demonstration of how to make it and helped us along the way. She couldn’t have been more friendlier.

It was great value for money and there was lots of materials to chose from and use.

The kids had a great time and couldn’t wait to show everyone what they had made.

The person running the class was lovely, very friendly and welcoming. There was lots of space to create at the table and the children enjoyed it. There weren’t enough letter beads to do their names unfortunately and we had to use sellotape on the end of the string we used to be able to thread them on, or it frayed too much. The lady did her best to problem solve though. It was a little expensive for just putting a few beads on string, could probably do it at home but but they had fun :)

We had Raymond today at the Loughton venue for making wind chimes, my two children aged 9 and 8 thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Raymond was really good with the children, very friendly, giving clear instructions with examples of what to do and talked to them throughout the activity. It was good for me too, to see you can make different things with pipe cleaners as they always seem to sit in our craft box for ages. We will definitely book in for another craft soon.

Our teacher was excellent. The materials provided were good. The venue was perfect.
My 6 year old granddaughter lost interest in it as it required a certain amount of dexterity. I, however, completed the cup while she was allowed to happily play with the other materials. I would suggest perhaps giving an age guide. I would have booked the bead workshop if the days had been good for us.

My teacher was very friendly and helpful. I needed an absolute beginner's introduction to the machine and after struggling with the manual at home, suddenly filling and loading the bobbins and threading the machine seemed surprisingly easy. I had been worried about damaging the machine with my incompetence, but was reassured, and I was shown how to fit patches to denim, which had been my impetus for buying a machine. I have been encouraged to experiment with the machine, rather than being a bit afraid of it.

The class was making disco clay ball. It was very good and my girl enjoyed every step .
She finished making ball in 15minutes though class was for an hour so instructive gave us an extra animal to make.
I would advise to give customers some tips on how to avoid cracks while air drying the ball.

On arrival we were greater by Michelle and given our own box of materials to make baubles of varying shapes and sizes.
Great selection of ornaments so just up to you to get creative.

The Christmas Ceramic Bauble Marbling workshop was a great class! I was a complete beginner to marbling, but my teacher, Cheryl, was fantastic! She was helpful and friendly, and encouraged me to try different things. I left the class with my newly created Christmas decorations, and the confidence to continue my marbling adventures at home! It was very good value for money, and I would highly recommend.

Amazing staff member Ish made the experience all the better with her friendly, chatty and warm nature. She was so kind to my seven year old and is a credit to your store. She could not have done more to make the workshop informative and engage my daughter in the card making.

I was impressed with the array of materials on offer for my daughter to use and how clean and well organised the area was - set up in an inviting way.

It was a brilliant experience. We are huge fans of hobby craft and all things arty and so this was right up our street. Will recommend to my friends!

My daughter attended the clay bat and ghost workshop and she absolutely loved it and asked if we could book to do another class. The teacher was friendly and remembered everyone’s name and did a great step by step demonstration of how to make the models. There were plenty of materials to use and everyone had more than enough to share. Great value for money and great fun for a half term activity!

A lovely class doing papier maché pumpkins! My 6 year old really enjoyed it. Emma was an enthusiastic leader and nothing was too much trouble for her. She was gentle and understanding with the children.

Our two boys really enjoyed the class (aged 4 and 6). They lived mixing the colours and being really imaginative with their makes.
Ish our instructor was really great, she engaged the children from the start, shared ideas, helped mix unique colours and was on hand to sculpt the perfect sea creatures.
It was just the right amount of time to occupy the little one, and would recommend!

What a lovely week workshop my daughters loved it. Margi was so kind and patient. Suggesting techniques along the way. I felt it was good value for the materials that were provided. Margi saw us looking around the shop afterwards and said we get 10% off and described us to the lady at the till. My 6-year old daughter really enjoyed painting her canvas today. Michelle was a sweet, patient leader and she explained how to colour-blend. There were plenty of paints and brushes to go around and all the children made lovely artworks.

My 6 year old son really enjoyed the session. I love the hobbycraft workshops as they are such good value. My son came back with an array of imaginative sea creature sculptures. The lady who ran the class was very patient and helpful. She did a very good job.

Michelle was great, she explained to the children what they needed to do and demonstrated it step by step. She helped each child and gave lots of encouragement. I would definitely recommend these sessions and Michelle was an amazing teacher!

Can’t grumble for the price, my daughter enjoyed it however she would’ve liked an example to copy or encouragement throughout, staff member was just to help open packets etc and didn’t really guide or interact. I would’ve been handy to have some chairs for adults too, two of the mums had small babies and were juggling feeding them standing so they could still supervise their children. My daughter made some nice crafts.

I had an absolutely fantastic time at my acrylic pouring workshop. All materials provided were of top quality and easy to use. The artisan Michelle was very knowledgeable, encouraging and patient as she showed me how to achieve many different effects on my canvasses. I also had plenty of materials left over, meaning I can apply what I learned in my own time. The workshop took place at the Epping Hobbycraft store and there was plenty of space to work in without feeling in the way of customers.

I really enjoyed the Lino print workshop.
Michelle, my teacher, was great very friendly and encouraging.
I was supplied with good materials that were easy to use, I was able to create a piece of art on the lino and best of all printed out the finished work.
I would really recommend this workshop to any one looking for a new art medium, the results were great!

The teacher explained well about the equipment and how to handle it. I was surprised to be the only person on the course and the space was good for myself and the tutor. If it was intended for a total of 4 pupils then it would not be adequate but I expect that there would be more tables and chairs if the number of pupils were greater. I thought the materials were good and value for money when tuition is included. My only regret was that the time was insufficient to produce and print a lino cut print, it would need at least an hour more to do this. However, if it takes a while for a print to dry, it may actually be better to do the print at home rather than risk smudging your print while carry it home.

I'm a complete sewing machine novice (literally have never used one before buying one determined to learn how to use it), and took this workshop hoping to learn the basics. The teacher was very patient and good humoured (even when I forgot to put the foot down for the hundredth time!) and took me through how to set up the sewing machine, do basic stitches, sew a hem, create button holes, and overlock - everything I can see myself needing to do for some time. I was initially a bit conscious that I was sitting in the middle of the shop with people browsing around me, but was soon so engrossed in what I was doing I forgot all about it. Fantastic workshop, and really good value for money for an hour 1:1.

The lady was very friendly and made sure all children had chairs.
All crafts and equipments were given to the all the children.

The glue gun was slightly hot for the younger children to handle and adult supervision was needed.

My daughter really enjoyed the paint a canvas session, when we arrived we were shown all the canvases that she could choose from. The teacher Chris was very helpful and gave her all the colours and pens she could use. Such great value for money and will be looking to book again very soon!

This class was exactly what I needed. The teacher was confident, informative and clear. She was friendly. I was able to learn what I’ve been struggling with for a long time. I left the store feeling much more confident of what I am doing. It helped that she was able to apply what she was teaching to Nubian machine. The only thing that would have improved it all would have been if I could have carried out the class on my own machine. It was definitely good value for money and easy to book. Thank you

I want to start by saying the lady who took the workshop was lovely and did everything she could to help. Unfortunately there was no joy to demonstrate with and no access to subscribed design space or included fonts. Considering I paid for this session, and filled in the form saying I had a joy, I would have thought both the joy and design space would have been available. I didn't stay for the full hour as there was really no point. The lady tried to demonstrate using the Maker but that was not what I had booked for.

Great workshop, easy to follow!
Cheryl was great at explaining how the Infusible ink worked in comparison to iron on vinyl, she then went through the various stages of design, cutting, placement and using the heatpress. We then had the opportunity to do it ourselves. Cheryl also gave us tips on what to look out for to avoid basic mistakes. Looking forward to my next workshop!

The teacher was very friendly and engaged in the project. My son, who is seven, was the only child who had registered for the event and she took the time to introduce him to plaiting threads and made a lovely multi strand bracelet for him to take home. My son has been making bracelets with the extra threads we were given. The lady also told us all about the artwork that she paints in acrylic and one of her paintings was on display in the shop. This was very inspiring as my son wants to be an artist when he grows up and he’s extremely creative!

The teacher was very good, friendly, welcoming and encouraging. The materials provided were good and appropriate for the class. I had to travel an hour by car to get to the store; my local Hobbycraft didn't do the classes, but it was worth it.

The venue was a table at the back of the store, so we were on view to shoppers, some of whom stopped to watch. I was so engrossed, that I didn't really notice, but I did expect a little more privacy.
I was the only 1 (of 4) attending, so the teaching was one-to-one. That was great for me; I was able to ask all the questions I'd prepared and the experience was so much more rewarding. If the class had been full, I'm not sure how we'd fit round the table provided and the experience would have been less enjoyable.

I hope you appreciate the feedback. I really enjoyed the class, learnt some basic techniques and am looking forward to putting them into practice. The comments about the venue didn't spoil things for me in the circumstances, but might be worth considering changing, if it becomes more popular.

It was a real pleasure meeting Susan for my workshop. She was attentive, encouraging and helped me build up confidence in my own sewing. It was very handy setting up my machine for the first time and being advised on tips. Excellent value for a one to one lesson. The sample patterns provided were a brilliant idea. You should consider selling the packs for beginners.
