Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I just always wanted to learn to crochet and with Gemma teaching I learned a lot. Venue should perhaps be in a cordoned off area as Gemma got interrupted a few times by members of the public. Great value for money and lovely materials provided. I liked the fact that Gemma had time for every learner and explained procedures so I could understand.

Luna loved her painting on canvas workshop today.
April, the teacher was amazing. She was very engaging and chatty. She went out of her way to help Luna, showing pictures on her phone of the Solar System as this was the subject that Luna was painting.
The paint available came in a myriad of colours with plenty of different width brushes. The canvas was excellent quality.
We have been to several workshops in Cardiff and they are such good value for money and the teachers have always been exceptional.
We are going to book more sessions for the Summer holidays.

I took my daughter and two friends to the Easter clay making. Dean, the teacher, was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and he gave the girls lots of help and tips. we booked it as a girls trip out. Great fun.
The tutor had prepared well, was on hand to help and had suggestions and tips.
Time went very quickly and we all came away with a wreath and a better knowledge of the glue gun.

The packets of air dry clay were right size for one person which I didn’t know Hobbycraft sold which is great for not wanting to buy too big a pack and be wasted.

The teacher (April) was very pleasant and knowledgeable. April answered my questions and demonstrated on the Cricut showing many features to help me go home feeling confident to produce something on my own machine.
My recommendation for improvement is not to have the course held on the shop floor as many passing customers interrupted and asked where things were in the store, hence disrupting and breaking my train of thought.

Fantastic workshop. Teacher was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for him to show us, and he shared lots of tips that we wouldn't have thought to ask. Showed us lots of examples of previous work, which was extremely helpful for visualising future projects.

The teacher, April, was really good, very attentive and knowledgeable.

In the session, she had patiently helped me to understand the process, from the beginning to the end, of using the cricut machine to cut.

As I am interested in cutting Arabic Calligraphy, I was surprised to be shown that there were templates in Design Space for that, and April had suggested we use one such template for practice. I found it incredibly instructive and valuable as she had gone through the process of cutting finer fonts and as this would be relevant to my future work, it was beneficial to see it demonstrated.

I went in not knowing where to begin using my Cricut machine and came out more confident in my knowledge of how to use it, now that I had seen it demonstrated and had my specific questions answered.

Overall, it was definitely worth it. I had a great time and learnt a lot. Thank you, April and Hobbycraft team!

Our children (aged 7 and 4) really enjoyed this workshop. Ceri did a great job of teaching them how to use the materials to create their space figures. There were plenty of materials available and they had time to make their creations, which they got to take home.

The teacher Roise was amazing she was very knowable and able to explain in full detail, how to upset a new Sewing machine, and all the the thing that could going wrong and how to fix sort thing out if did work frist time plus basic stitches.

I have one very happy child and that what it was about give the confidence, that my daughter will be able to set up the machine, she got for Xmas and the 30 min trip home she could not stop talking about it so I think that tell me that it was a good workshop.

Course was just what I wanted, informative and relaxing. The teacher was lovely which made it even nicer. It was a nice and quiet space at the back of the Cardiff store which I enjoyed. (Although apparently the music is usually on loudly which I wouldn't have enjoyed). I am looking forward to doing more of this craft and would definitely do something like this again.

We had an absolutely great time at this workshop- my three year old and I really enjoyed making the paper mache pumpkins. The tutor was so lovely and lots of different ideas and materials to work with, didn’t feel rushed at all and the end results were great, I honestly don’t know which of us enjoyed it more! Venue was perfect with plenty of parking. This was the first ever Hobbycraft workshop we attended and we’ll definitely be going to more from now on! Thank you!

Good materials were used and could do 2 different types of decoration.
There could have been a bit more direction particularly for the younger ones and a bit more enthusiasm from the teacher. An hour session instead of half an hour would have been good.

If painting a way to bring them home when still bit wet would have been good too.

Thoroughly enjoyed this craft session, the staff member was very friendly and explained it all very well.
The allotted time for the session wasn’t long enough to complete the calendar in full, however they allowed us to overrun to finish it, without any rushing or pressure which was kind.
Very much enjoyed the session and would sign up for more.
Session was attended by myself and my 11yr old daughter, I would definitely recommend the sessions for children of that age, prior to attending I wasn’t sure if the sessions were adult only or not.

Booked as a treat for my daughters birthday for her and 4 friends . The girls really enjoyed the experience and I thought it was good value for money as they got a canvas and paints to use . They each got to keep their canvas pictures too . It made for an affordable birthday celebration . The teacher was a bit quiet but nice enough . The venue is fine and I liked that we were away from the busiest part of the shop which made things a lot more relaxed . Over all I’m very happy and will be booking again .

Its not the best start when the teacher says I do crocheting I'm not a crafter! Then they haven't got all the materials. This class was booked way in advance so they knew there were 4 booked on.
Being a lecturer and teaching craft and textile, I just think it is poorly organised. You always need a practise run BEFORE the actual class. This isn't the first class we have attended either, but it's the same thing with them all

It's a shame that a children's craft class can be so disorganised. Not having the correct materials. A teacher who doesn't know or specialise in this craft, it's like we will all learn how to do it together including the teacher
This has been the case on all the children's craft classes. I even had to show the teacher/trainer how to weave on a previous class. When you're paying for a class you'd at least expect someone to know what they're doing and have all the materials for everyone signed up.
The children did come away with something they made which thank goodness was a positive but it wasn't what they expect

My son really enjoyed the session. It was his first time and he'd really like to go again.
The teacher April was friendly and very engaging with the children.
It would improve the experience if the materials involved in the session were set out for each child on the table before the children sat down and that there was ample supply of the materials so passing things around did not hold up the children's progress.
We can't wait to try another workshop and the calm and creative setting was great for keeping the children focused. Thanks

We enjoyed the class and the lady hosting was very nice and very helpful however the choice of bead’s available was very basic and not what our girlie girls really wanted to use. The most sparkly, pretty beads didn’t fit the string. This was frustrating for 4 years and difficult to understand. It seems that Hobbycraft have spent money marketing these sessions but the store seems a little unprepared. The Artisan who usually takes these classes and was experienced was away on holiday. There were other Hobbycraft classes I also considered but based on this one I don’t think I’d rush to book again.

April introduce herself to me, and made me feel very welcome. Asked me about my issues with my cricut 3. April gave me time to explain myself, So April started with the lesson and explained very slowly step by step and gave me a chance to ask as many questions as possible. Everything I had issues with April reassured me about using my cricut 3. I would definitely recommend the class to friends if they are having any problems with their cricut.

This was the first workshop we attended, and my daughter loved it! It’s a great way to introduce your children to a new hobby to see if they will enjoy before you spend a fortune! Bonus is that you also take their creations and something extra home!

Was a complete novice at the start of this class but Gemma, our lovely teacher was very patient and friendly and showed us how to crochet as well as giving hints and tips to make it easier. We also had a left handed person and Gemma was able to teach her as well. There were only 3 of us which made it a more intimate experience.

Lovely idea and my son really enjoyed it. He took a long time to come and sit down because hi was nervous but the teacher was very patient and allowed him to take his time. It was a shame we missed the demonstration but he didn’t mind! I think the pricing is fair considering buying it all separately would end up about the same and this feels more special than doing it at home. Thank you!

We really enjoyed the doodle and water colour painting class. The children were made to feel welcome and the activity was explained well, with demonstrations. They got to create a lovely canvas each and materials to make this were included in the cost. We would definitely recommend and would like to try out some other classes too.

Ceri was really great with the children - so friendly and welcoming, The children were very relaxed with her and they responded happily to her. They thoroughly enjoyed choosing from the wide variety of paints and tools. and were so proud of their finished pictures. Ceri gently encouraged them throughout the session and the hour went by so quickly as they were all concentrating on their masterpieces! my tutor was the brilliant Emma, she was patient teaching and demonstrating two stitches double crochet and treble crochet and the 'magic ring'. she explained tension, how stitches work and pattern abbreviations.
my goody box included 2 chunky yarns one grey, one mustard and a chunky crochet hook which made it easy for me to use, follow/count stitches and reference cards for me to practice at home.
my experience was very good and after some practice I wouldn't mind coming back for intermediate learning.

The cricut lady was super helpful. I'd been booked into the beginners session but she adapted to cover some other things as I'd already set up my machine and started cutting. I had some questions prepared and she answered all of them by showing step by step what to do. We did some cutting in store too, this further helped me get over the obstacles I'd been stuck with. Had an excellent workshop experience with April. The lesson was for my 11year old granddaughter who is very shy and reserved. April was so lovely with her and put her at ease. She tailored the lesson to suit my granddaughter's age and was more than happy to repeat parts of the demonstration if necessary. She fully included her making several samples which reinforced the instruction April had been giving throughout. Altogether a lovely experience for both of us. My granddaughter couldn't wait to get started and is enthusiastically making really good progress already. She choose the duck and created a colourful piece.

April the in-store Circut expert is lovely. She is approachable and able to answer all your questions. The workshop is carried out in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

The venue is easily accessible and the Cricut workshop was held on the ground floor at the rear of the shop. Although there is an in-store lift to the 1st floor for disabled access should it be required.

Any materials that are required to carry out and complete your project are provided by Hobbycraft.

The Cruicut workshop was £5.00 for a 1 hour session and what you make during that hour you get to take home with you, which makes it excellent value for money.

During the workshop I learnt how to make and assemble presentation boxes of all different sizes and designs.

Great location, parking and shop! My teacher was April who I’d met previously who helped me buy my Cricut - I’m a newbie to Cricut world.she was so helpful, informative and honest telling me what I would/wouldn’t need which was great! I then booked onto the workshop with her. She was fab! very friendly and answered everything I asked. She showed me the basics and as requested by me, how to use infusable ink, create a layered logo and how to iron on to material. I came home with 2 templates to have ago at ironing on!

The teacher, April was totally amazing. I'm disabled and she made sure at all times that I was comfy, had a chair and moved things so that I was able to see screens at all times. She was excellent at explaining everything to me clearly as I am a total beginner and she brought it all down to my level. No questions I asked were deemed daft and she answered them all. There were many. She was patient with other shoppers who were asking questions of her during the workshop but did explain that it was private. She was never rude or short with anyone. She has a brilliant knowledge of the cricut products and gave me excellent advice on purchases and supplies. I fully intend to book more workshops with her for the Cricut range because I know the advice and help will be relevant and will enable me to continue to enjoy my crafting. The manager, who I understand is new, was
also very helpful, especially after the workshop where I wanted to do some shopping inshore. The Cardiff store is a treasure I hope management will continue to appreciate as myself, and many other customers do.

Excellent session with Rosie who is an excellent communicator & explains instruction in easy to understand manner. She is very patient & happy to answer lots of questions.
I had made a simple patchwork table runner but needed to add bias binding to finish, having difficulty with corners & joining binding together.
I was shown how to do this & have come away with everything pinned together & further instructions ie pressing so now just have to sew it all up which I feel confident to do.
I wilk definitely book a sewing workshop with Rosie again.

Assistant explained how to use the machine using easy to follow instructions. Plenty of time to ask my own questions. A privacy screen should be up to stop customers interrupting the session. The sign is made ch too small.

Another really good workshop led by April. Although I have used vinyl before, I have never attempted iron-on vinyl so was keen to learn. April passed on her skills and ideas expertly.
The workshop area wasn't ideal as customers kept asking for help which was a little distracting. Maybe another staff member should be in the vicinity to assist customers. April was extremely careful with the heat press. Alerting passers by that it was hot - always mindful of health and safety.
Definitely value for money and I'm looking forward to creating designs for baby clothes.

We have recommended a couple of friends and family to hobby craft just because of her. Excellent value for money, all materials provided and yours to take away including rolling pin, cookie cutters and stamps. Our teacher was really helpful and approachable providing really useful tips. A great introductory course to using air dried clay.

The lady who took the class was very nice but it wasn’t at all informative, and nothing I couldn’t have done myself at home.
Class was held upstairs on shop floor and wasn’t a great location as customers interrupted to ask where things where.
I also noticed the manager hanging around making himself known and looking at his watch, I only really noticed this as he had done the exact same thing on a previous class I done there but on that occasion he tapped his watch towards the end of the class.

It just wasn’t a nice relaxed crafty atmosphere.

The teacher was good. She went at the right speed and explained each step. I like that all the item required were given a pre pared box. I think instructions on how to make the cards show be provided and I shouldn’t have had to photograph them. I think the cards are a little boring. I assume the table is where it is to advertise the classes but we were disturbed 4 times in a hour by customers asking for advice. Though they were all quick questions it is valuable time wasted when there is a lot to be shown in an hour. Overall I enjoyed the session and would consider booking other classes.

Amazing Xmas bauble workshop the lady from hobbycraft running the class was friendly and very helpful and had some good tips and ideas for us. On arrival laid out ready at craft table for us each was a beautiful sealed box all packaged beautifully were amazing loads of little trees and solid resin ornaments inc the snow the glue gun and pack glue sticks plus the glass and plastic baubles was well worth the money and everything was ours to keep.
Wonderful way to start off Xmas makes and well worth the money both my mother and I would highly recommend taking up a session.

April was a very patient and very knowleable teacher who helped me enormously. I now have far more confidence in being able to use the Cricut design space and can't wait to get started again. As a previous die cutter (cards etc), I was shown how to mat and layer different elements at the same time (such a time saver), how to respace and weld text. Also how to draw rather than just cut designs. Everything was really well (and paiently) explained. Great value for money. The only downside for me was the positioning of the workshop. Unfortunately it was in an area where shelves and stock were being moved around in a noisy fashion, making it difficult to concentrate at times.

April, the tutor was very obliging. She hadn’t worked with material previously so we learnt together
The venue was not so good. It was too open and other shoppers kept stopping by. Ed had done interruptions too.
April had some good examples to show what she had made using the machine, but as they were not arrears that interested me, they were not particularly useful.
I felt £10 was a lot to pay and feel the info I received was what I would expect to get from any assistant on the shop floor at any time.

What a fabulous day we had! The staff were lovely and really helpful, Bethan and Ceri were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. It wasn’t enough time to complete the advent calendar but great project to carry on with at home. The venue was ideal, plenty of space and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
The advent calendar was great and the paints etc were perfect, could have done with some additional white paint or maybe a white spray paint would have been better to start off. It was good value for money and would definitely do it again. Thank you.

April was lovely, such a nice person who made me feel welcome and at ease. I was lucky enough to be the only participant so had April's full attention. April was knowledgeable and helpful, she kept checking in to make sure I was doing OK and if I needed any guidance.
Venue was fine, I was shown to where the class was being held by a member of staff and introduced me to April and was very helpful.
Materials provided were of good quality and everything I needed.
I was worried that the class was a bit expensive but once I saw the kit provided and the assistance I was getting my mind was put at ease. I definitely think it's value for money. I would like to pass on my thanks to April for a lovely crafting class and she has definitely encouraged me to return for other activities.

Rosie was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. She was able to demonstrate all the basic techniques for my new Singer sewing machine. The fabric used to demonstrate however was pretty poor quality and could have been better!
The workshop was set up near the fabrics so it was rather distracting with shoppers around. One shopper even expected Rosie to help with cutting fabric! Maybe a new location in the store would be better.

Had a wonderful hour with April the teacher for cricut. She showed me how to use my maker as I had lost confidence and couldn’t remember how to use mine. The teacher showed me how to use the pens that I wasn’t sure of and a number of other things to help me. What as amazing person she is. Thank you for making this possible

Another great class with Rosie. Learnt how to sew a zipped fabric pouch, pre cut the fabric in advance to save time. Also gave me a demo on how to use a rolled hem presser foot.
Rosie is a great teacher, very patient & explains how to follow instructions for a pattern in a simple easy way.
Excellent value for money.

My daughter and her friend absolutely loved the workshop. The lady leading it was very patient with everyone and helped out when we needed it.
Everything was well presented and added to the experience having all the equipment wrapped in tissue paper in a box. They thought it was very special.
They are already looking at what they can do next.

I had a great experience at Hobbycraft in Leckwith this morning.
My teacher April was very enthusiastic and answered all of my questions. She is very knowledgeable about the circut machines and no question was too difficult.
I am a complete beginner with a cricut machine and I now feel confident to buy one and start using it straight away as the class has shown me how to set it up and start using.
I would recommend visiting April for sessions.

I took my daughter and her friend (both 12 years old) and they enjoyed the class but that was mainly due to Abbie, who led the class. The cross stitch was lovely, but starting with an intricate intermediate grade could have easily put the girls off cross stitch.

Rosie is a very knowledgeable & patient teacher & made me feel at ease. She also helped me purchase some sewing items after the class. Really enjoyed my class & looking forward to booking again!

Great hour, learnt loads, I didn’t go with a fixed plan, it was more about finding the little things out that make a difference. Found vinyl that doesn’t leave a sticky residue, which i am over the moon about.
Personally i love face to face, so this set up really works for me. I’ll be back again for some more tips.
Definitely recommend doing this to learn about your machine.

Loved my beginners sewing machine class with Rosie today. She is an excellent teacher & I will definitely be booking again with her. I took my own sewing machine which was helpful as I had many questions about the basics ie changing a needle. I had a list of questions & Rosie showed me or answered them ie how to use the button adaption & how to fit it, how to sew quilting squares together.
An excellent informative individual session with a friendly, knowledgeable and patient teacher.
