Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

I went for the one to one crochet session, and took along a pattern I'd love to try (at some point!).
I wasn't expecting to get any free materials - but I got a little goody bag, with a crochet hook and two balls of wool to get started.
Gabi is just LOVELY - apart from being an incredible crochet-ist (is that a word?), she's also very humble about it. Aside from sharing photos of her granddaughter in outfits she's made, it's obvious how talented she is from all the things on display in the store! Beautifully made toys and decorations are everywhere- Hobbycraft are making good use of her talents :)
I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to go and try crochet with Gabi; she's very good at teaching the craft, explaining jargon, and making even the more complex patterns seem approachable.
It's obvious Gabi is passionate about her craft - and it was a really lovely way to spend an hour, a real treat!

Teacher was very lovely and soo patient when other customers pitched up half an hour late. She couldn’t do enough to help us and give us ideas for our Easter bonnet. Kit that came with lesson was nice and we were given a few extra items to use. I haven’t used a sewing machine for many years and this was perfect as a refresher. Gabby was very friendly and knowledgable. She demonstrated the machine then guided me through using the machine to make a small bag, which was great. Gabby also answered a few questions I had re-troubleshooting the machine if things don’t go as planned.

Heather was absolutely fantastic, was hands-on and involved throughout, offering help and talking to my little person to keep him engaged- 5 stars for her!

4 stars for overall experience- the table was rather small and could’ve done with a clean/wipe down before the session was started (including the chair)
Sadly the clay mache ball fell to the floor after 10 mins of being hung up once we got home

Hi - my daughters attended Xmas Decorations class with Cheryl in Borehamwood today. They enjoyed the class very much and were very happy with their handmade decorations.
Cherly was great with the kids and showed them what needed to be done and helped along the way. the workshop area was a good space for the kids and there was a good choice of different decorations they could build.
My girls were very happy with there decorations.

Really lovely tutor (I'm so sorry I've forgotten her name) and great materials which were definitely worth the cost of the workshop. Was a little surprised that there were quite young children there (at first I thought I must have booked the wrong date) but they were regular attendees and in no way impaired my enjoyment. Will be looking out for more workshops in the New Year.

I liked my crochet class very much as it was a one to one experience so I was not having to wait my turn to speak to the tutor. My tutor, Gaby, was very friendly and patient and worked at my pace. I would like to attend another workshop with Gaby as she made me feel at ease and although she mentioned in our conversation some of the items available in store which would help me with my new craft, she did not shove them down my neck. I feel confident that after my initial class, I can start to tentatively begin my new hobby. This one to one class was a great starting point which I highly recommend.

Gabi was lovely.
I hadn’t crocheted for around 30 years. So needed a refresher.
Gabi covered everything i needed to get back into it and we practiced on a toy pattern that i had bought.
I was given a well detailed instruction sheet to take away along with wool and crochet hooks which i wasn’t expecting at all.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was fantastic value.
Plus Gabi was very friendly and patient and above all an expert in her craft.

Brilliant one to one lesson. I learnt a great deal and am now much more confident with my crochet. I learnt how to use the magic circle, crochet granny squares, change yarn, as well as increase and decrease. I would highly recommend this. I started the mixed colour square during the lesson, and have since completed the red on my own.

I took my two girls aged 9 and 6 to the clay halloween workshop they both enjoyed it. The teacher Fiona was nice and helped them to make a bat, pumpkin and ghost. The teacher gave the children lots of time and made helpful suggestions. The clay we used was good and easy to use. Would book another workshop.

Really useful class as I had unsuccessfully attempted to crochet previously with poor results. Tutor (sorry, forgot her name, begins with G) was friendly and helpful and gave clear instructions, encouraging us when we messed up. The space was limited and I found the constant customer traffic quite distracting. On the whole, the course was great value for money and I will consider booking a further course once I’ve had some practice

Great start to the basics of crochet, teacher was patient and really lovely. It would of been nice to have had a guide to take away to recap the stitches.
The class was only an hour, I assumed it was 1.5hrs when I booked… would of been nice to have a bit more practise.

There were four of us in the class and we had a really great teacher - very friendly, helpful and informative. Other customers in the shop enjoyed looking at what we were doing, and telling us what we could do better It's a good idea to have the class in the shop as it advertises the workshops to people who may not know about them - the downside though is that there's not a lot of room and we could have done with more space to put our coasters and canvases down to dry. We were given what remained in the kits to take home and carry on. I would definitely do another workshop and recommend it to others - wear old clothes and be prepared to get messy!

All the equipment was provided with a large selection of paint and already set up when we arrived. we were able to get stuck in straight away

What an amazing afternoon! Gorgi was truly fantastic. She explained all about buying materials going forward before letting me pick 2 balls of wool, tonnes of colours to choose from and a crochet hook. We sat at a table at the back of the store, just by the knitting and crochet bits. Excellent value for money. I was given some printed instructions to take away with me. I was a complete beginner, learnt the basics and made a granny square. We worked at my pace and Gorgi talked about what else I could make going forward. Can't wait till I have have a bit of practice and will then be going back for the next stage of following patterns etc.

I have a 5 & 7 year old. We went to make air dry clay creatures.
Tracy at Borehamwood was awesome- she was so fun and engaging and very patient with them all.
Even my fussy 7 year old sat and concentrated for 30 minutes and asked to do another session!
Definitely worth the £5 (even if you do get the kids asking to buy £30 of crafts on the way out! Lol)

After being sent to the wrong place in Borehamwood by the satnav, we arrived just in time for the session. Everything was ready and waiting for my girls. Tracy had a fabulous rapport with the
children. She explained clearly and all the time demonstrated what she was doing so the children could see and then do it themselves. The spotty treading beads didn't have a big enough hole for the threads so Tracy changed them immediately for flourescent, Frozen like beads which the children loved! A great activity that was value for money and my 4 and 7 year old girls really enjoyed. Thank you Tracey!

This was an excellent class, the materials provided are comprehensive and generous so you can do more paint pouring at home. We had an enthusiastic teacher who is experienced in the technique and shared her ideas and knowledge based on her own practice. I attended the class in Borehamwood, a good venue with parking right outside- ideal for doing a little craft supplies shopping after the class.

teacher very helpful, . The course was £35.00 and we were given about £35.00's worth of materials. very happy with my session. would recommend it .
Only thing i must warn people is that the canvas takes a long time to dry and transporting them home needs space to lay them out. teacher offered to put the somewhere safe to dry and we could come back and get them.
Also bring an apron.

Crochet class for beginners at Elstree Hobbycraft was excellent. Gabi, our teacher was great from beginning to end. She explained step by step the technique to us all. She was very patient and kind. We were given instructions to follow and practice and home. She gave us very good advice as well.
I really enjoy this class and I definitely would recommend it.

I guess the whole experience was amazing! My niece is 5+ and this was her first experience! I would say it may be useful if the kids had a little more space, but the kindness and warmth of the teacher more than made it up, I guess.

Nothing like the images was actually offered. no guidance or support. The kids are too young to make something nice on their own and the workshop lasted about 20 minutes tops. really not impressed.
The instructor was okay. she wasn't overly nice and she got annoyed with one child who kept mixing colours or glue only pompoms and feathers were offered as extras and though the cost wasn't high at all - it still wasn't worth it! I took half a day off work to get my daughter early from school and do this with her. quite disappointing and will not book again.

Took my grandchildren to the personalised canvas painting workshop. They had a good time. Tracey was very good and attentive to the children, she explained how to do their initial, and if there wasn’t a colour there that you wanted she went out off her way to get it for them. The project for a complete beginner was too advanced. It would be better to start with squares rather than the patterns for the cactus. I had limited experience and still only managed to get half of one of the catus knitted. I am not sure I learnt anything new but Still enjoyed the 90 minutes and I can finish the project at home. Thanks

The teacher was brilliant and knew her stuff, she answered all my questions.
Only problem was ability to demonstrate wasn't great, but at no fault of the person, it was the equipment in store (can't use hot machines, understandably, but also only an ipad not desktop) that limited it

The teacher was fantastic. Plenty of materials provided for the workshop. A very relaxed and enjoyable workshop. We left delighted with our monster creations. Great fun great value for money. We will definitely be booking other kids workshops. Thanks for a great afternoon.

The teacher was amazing and very patient . She set up at the back of the store where it was nice and private . The materials were all supplied and she was ready to go. I would throughly recommend doing this course with this teacher as she was explaining very well.

The tutor was very friendly and polite and I enjoyed the class - however I would have liked to see more demonstration which didn’t seem possible using the app and maybe she should be given a desk top to be able to truly demonstrate the Cricut to its best

The staff member was lovely but admitted to being nervous. She was able to answer some of my questions but I felt more practical demos would have been helpful. For example, I wanted to learn how to use the heat press and the one on display could not be used as it was for display only. so it was not possible to see it or infusible ink products in action. She could not see how to curve text (another of my questions) and looked it up online, only to find that the version of design space she was using was different and neither of us could find the appropriate button on the ipad.

Despite me having booked and turned up on time, quite a lot of time was wasted as the instructor first had to go and get her box of materials. She then had difficulty connecting to design space on her ipad so had to disappear to reset the password etc. While an hour was booked and paid for, there was only about 20 - 25 minutes of discussion.

If Hobbycraft is serious about running workshops, whether in a group or one to one, it would be much better to have a dedicated space in the store where the instructor can sit down with the customer and go through the content; we were standing near the front of the store - not very conducive to learning.

Good teacher. Helpful. She asked me to do things, so I'd remember more easily next time. I learned how to use the darning attachment, which is what I needed to know. My main complaint is that we were sitting in a tight corner right by the main entrance door, with the sliding doors opening and closing, and it was a cold day. We were there because the teacher said that was the only place in the shop with a plug socket for the machine.

This was a real adventure with great tutoring. I had never heard about fluid art and wanted to try something different. I found fluid art really frees you to be spontaneous and free - there is not right, but there is a great deal of scope for experimenting and just seeing what happens.
I love the feel of Hobbycraft, full of new possibilities. And the staff was great. I would recommend anyone having a go with something new, or improving a skill.

Vicky was really amazing, friendly and encouraging.

The amount of materials provided for my Christmas wreath was a lot and a great surprise. Wreath kit, glue gun and glue sticks and lots of foliage and a couple of floral picks.

Really enjoyed decorating the stag today and am very happy with the finished article. Tam loved her role taking the workshop and her enjoyment was infectious. I had to bring it home to finish it, but that was a bonus for me. She gave the advice to get going and then let me use my imagination so it really was my stag and not exactly the same as every other stag made. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you.

I just had such a lovely 1:1 session with Lee to learn the basics of my cricut joy machine. I’m a complete beginner and I now feel more confident to start a few projects of my own. Lee was incredibly knowledgeable and could answer all my questions. He was also extremely patient and didn’t mind showing me something a few times! Thank you for giving me the confidence to start using my cricut joy machine.

The person running the session was friendly and knowledgeable. However, we thought the session would be in a room away from the shop and that we could see the machine in action and try it. I don’t feel it was worth the price of the session when you can’t see the machine working. There was awful drilling going on which was very distracting and made it hard to hear.

I was very well looked after by the staff in the store.
The box was like opening a gift, nicely wrapped, exciting and full of well packed items.
It is extremely good value for money.
I choose my local store, which is a smaller one, this didnt deter from the enjoyment i had a table to myself tucked away in a corner but still felt very much a valued customer & very safe in these unpresidented times.

I am absolutely delighted to give a review . Firstly let me say Catherine is a wonderful gifted lady, happy to share her craft . I'm an absolute beginner. I brought my own machine. Catherine showed me how to do everything from scratch. Inc threading to different types of stitches, we went through all the functions on my machine.
We made a little blanket for my daughters doll pram. Catherine was able to give so many hints and tips. On top of that we went through the shop to look a needles, materials and any other things I might need for my projects. All that For only £10 I would do it again and again. Its the best £10 I have spent in a long while.

My Teacher today was AMS at Borehamwood branch. She was very patient and enlightened me a lot. I went there to understand the products and I left with tons of information and a Cricut Explore Air 2 and tools to start.
I would definitely advise anyone not sure of how it works and what it can do to book for a class first and then you can pick up the product you would like to have.
Ams was super cool and fun to learn from today. Thank you

My daughter took part in a cross stitch session today with Tan.
It was a wonderful session. The store was welcoming, clean and well stocked up with vibrant, inspiring and alluring displays. The staff were polite and communicated with clarity. It was so exciting for my daughter, opening the craft box and explore the treasures inside. She had never cross stitched before but Tan, who had a lovely calm and cheery manner was supportive, patient and reassuring. It was lovely to sit back and watch the two of them as they worked together.
We were very lucky to have Tan to ourselves. She was very easy to talk but she also took the time to listen.
We had a little shop for some bits after and had cheery service from the cashier.

I’ve got to say we haven’t been in Hobbycraft since before lockdown but going back was brilliant and the experience and product was 10 times better than it was before.

Having been a retail manager I have high standards of customer service - it’s hard to find but today Hobbycraft’s team excelled. Well done!

We will definitely do some more workshops as long as some run on Sundays. So great to have a store and service like this locally.
