4 hours Class size 1 to 10     label £50

Come along and learn about the soft ground etching method for making prints. In a printing studio nestled in the beautiful Jubilee Wharf, you will join experienced printmaker John Howard as you tap into your inner artist.

During this four hour workshop, you will be introduced to the supplies and techniques needed to make amazing artwork using the soft ground etching method. You will explore different design ideas and learn to add them to a metal etching plate using an acid-resistant layer called a ground.

Once your plate is prepared, you can then add drawings, revealing the metal underneath. This will then be placed in an acid bath which 'bites' the marks and leaves hollow markings which hold ink. Guided by John you will then learn how to make prints with your crafted plate.

This form of making prints is great for beginners and those with some experience looking to develop their skills in this art form.

You can then enjoy the surrounding creative businesses and cafe that is near the class. Everything is wheelchair accessible and makes for a unique thing to do in Cornwall. At the end of the day, you will feel creatively satisfied and have some amazing prints to cherish.
