Interested in making art in new ways? Join experienced printmaker John Howard at Jubilee Wharf as he guides you through the intriguing and creative method of aquatint and sugar-lift printing process.

Using a sugar solution and paintbrush, you will draw unique designs onto an etching plate. This can then be used to make prints again and again. Create whatever wonderful drawings you want and come away with artwork you are proud of.

Whether you're exploring this method for the first time or you are revisiting printmaking to develop your skills, this wonderful art form is sure to help you relax and inspire your creative side. John will be on hand to share his expert advice and answer any questions you have.

At the end of this craft class, you will have two to three striking prints that have been created from your etched plate. You can also take a look around the rest of the area where the printmaking studio is as you adventure through the other creative businesses and cafes on site. Everything is wheelchair accessible and comes with stunning views of the river.

John Howard is an award-winning painter and printmaker and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) and an honorary member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (MRBSA). As well as running his highly-regarded print studio, he is also an associate lecturer at Falmouth University.

Born in Birmingham, England, John worked in industry in the midlands for ten years before studying fine art as a mature student where he graduated with a first class honours degree. He moved to Cornwall for greater professional and personal fulfilment and now runs a printmaking studio in an iconic eco-building, offering courses, workshops and open access to other printmakers as well as making his own work.
