- Wandering hand-in-hand around the local art gallery or museum, visiting favourite paintings and searching out exciting new exhibitions
- Browsing the art section of the local bookshop, or hunting out cool paintings or sculptures in quirky antique shops
- Taking mini breaks to other cities to visit their galleries, or to listen to talks from local artists
You should try…
A lively paint and sip or soothing pottery class
Why you’ll love it
Run out of exhibitions? It’s time you both switched it up and immersed yourselves in creative couples activities in Manchester!
If you’ve spent hours trawling local galleries and following artists on Instagram, and ever thought, ‘I wonder if I could do that…’, then the answer is yes! Led by a talented potter or artist, you’ll settle down together to paint (with a drink in hand, of course), throw clay or sculpt the night away – not only will you have a fun few hours, you’ll also get a glimpse of how it feels to be a creator rather than an observer. Plus, either of you could be harbouring a hidden talent, and who knows – maybe you’ll be exhibiting your own work one day!

The teacher was great! Very friendly from the start, extremely knowledgeable and willing to help with advice (or a little assistance on centre-ing the clay!) wherever possible. Best to go in with an open mind and a sense of humour - you might mess up but begin to learn quickly how to handle the clay. Loved this class, would come again, perfect for couples or friends with the small class size. I want to make more pots soon! Ren Shane, Throwing class for beginners
A really great class and such a rarity to find an oil painting class… I’ve been looking for years for one like this! Jasper was a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and patient tutor and I finished the 3 hour lesson having learnt so much as well as having a painting I was proud of. A great way to spend an afternoon! Rebecca Coughlan, Beginners oil painting workshop
We did the paint and sip class for our anniversary, it was so much fun and I’m shocked how good the painting was! I haven’t painted since I was in high school and now I’m 33. Loved this and would definitely recommend it! Leah Taylor, Sip and paint class

Simply brilliant! Really good introduction to tea and it's origins. The layout was superb with the tasting arranged specifically to maximise enjoyment. It was really interesting to learn about the different tea origins and what made them different from each other. Really friendly staff and some great drinks! I would love to go along again! Nick Cave, Tea blending workshop
Josh is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, making it a very interesting and enjoyable experience. Prior to the class I watched many YouTube videos about latte art but to no avail. Josh clearly explained the techniques so after many attempts I was able to produce a tulip. Josh is a very encouraging teacher, so I did not feel uncomfortable when making mistakes. Thank you Josh. I also look forward to trying the coffee you roasted this morning! Giles Armitage, Latte art workshop

Excellent workshop in a beautiful setting with knowledge staff. Delighted with my terrarium and feel confident the plants will thrive due to care video produced by the business. Materials were fabulous and the class instructor ensured everyone created a delightful terrarium. I may have found a new hobby! Neil Parsons, Terrarium workshop
This was so fun! The teacher was lovely and made everything easy. She talked us through the whole process and I'm so happy with the end result. Displayed mine proudly in my living room. Would definitely recommend this class. Thanks! Rhiannon Wood, Japanese Shimenawa workshop

The teacher was very professional, welcoming and attentive. We loved the food and drinks, and as it was my partner's birthday the teacher allowed him to make one of the cocktails himself, which was a nice bonus. It was our first time in Manchester and we would definitely visit again! Reanna McKenzie, Italian aperitivo cocktail masterclass

We thoroughly enjoyed attending this workshop. Bells created an inviting and warm atmosphere, making us feel comfortable from the very start. Her friendly and approachable nature stood out, and her wealth of knowledge about aromatherapy and skincare was truly impressive. It’s a hidden gem! I had such a lovely time at the workshop with Liz! The space was beautifully set up-cozy, welcoming and full of charm, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
