What you'll do

Looking for a fun and relaxing way to unleash your creativity? Join Creative Ceramics for a pottery making class where you can leave with handpainted and handmade pottery pieces you love!

With full support and guidance provided, you'll be amazed at what you can create with just a little bit of patience and creativity. Don't worry if this is your first time making ceramics, you'll have friendly, local teacher Sandra on hand to help at all times!

You'll spend 45 minutes on the wheel or creating a pinch pot, followed by 45 minutes of decorating and glazing a pre-made piece. Giving you the best of both worlds, crafting by hand and getting creative with pottery painting!

Unwind at the pottery studio and take in the beautiful scenes of the Edinburgh harbour as you create beautiful pieces and relax to your own choice of music! It's the perfect way to spend time with loved ones and shared an intimate Edinburgh experience.

After you've completed your creations, Sandra will carefully glaze and bisque-fire it to set the design. There are a few flat-coloured glazes to choose from too!

Finished pieces are ready to be collected in three weeks or can be posted for an additional charge. Alternatively, you can pay for a speedy firing process and have your piece ready to collect or be shipped in 10 days instead.

What you'll get

The Creative Ceramics studio was opened in 2005 as a space for ceramic artists to work in Edinburgh. The well equipped ceramics and pottery studio has two throwing wheels, and three kilns.

The owner, Sandra Brown, is an alumni of Glasgow School of Art where she was awarded the Bram Stoker medal for best imaginative work of the year.

Pottery classes for groups range from absolute beginners pottery to those wishing to further their knowledge and skills in ceramics and everything in between, including people with learning difficulties and additional support needs, who also enjoy the therapeutic benefits of working with clay.

This class was so much fun. Sandra is such a great teacher! I was pretty terrible at following the instructions but was still able to make some interesting peices on the wheel. I could definitely see how her fun, calm and patient personality would work with various groups of people, young and old. We would like to take take our boys back for a class one day!

Sandra was amazing to teach, put us at ease and is very approachable.
The class was super instructive, fun, and despite the fact we were four, she gave us all enough attention and support during the learning.
She quickly explained us the basics of the wheel but never forgot to come back at us to check and correct.

Never a negative word regarding our making and if we did she was always flipping the view on the positive side.

Definitely recommend !
