I was a little nervous booking this as I have never used a machine before but was put at ease the moment I arrived. I have learned so much and was so excited to get home and start! Everything was explained well and was easy to follow. My teacher Chrissie was so understanding of what I wanted to know and happily answered all of my questions!
I have come away knowing how to use my machine and some samples to try out! Absolutely worth every penny!
I will be back for more lessons!

Little confusion whether it started at 1.30 (tutor) or 1.45 (booking confirmation) but that didn’t cause issues. Was looking forward to pipe cleaner flowers but had choice of star or heart wands instead. Kids very happy & could have stayed longer.

Chrissie, at the HedgeEnd store was fantastic! She listened to what I think I want to use a Cricut for and showed me lots of examples. Plus ideas to take it even further! She was very supportive and a lovely lady.
I now have a clear idea of which machine model will best suit me and ideas that I wasn’t aware you can do. The session was totally worth the money.

Although he enjoyed doing the artwork, it was quite disappointing due to the lack of engagement from the person delivering the training. She did not introduce herself, no demonstration, just expected us to know what we had to do and left us to it! She didn't go round or show support or guidance to individuals. She was pleasant, but didn’t engage with us. For that reason, we wouldn’t do it again.

Brought my two grandsons to a personalised canvas painting session. Joy led the class and was so friendly and helpful and really encouraged the youngsters to be creative. I can't fault anything about the class - the boys loved it, they really liked Joy and they had a great time and were very happy with their artistic results. They have asked me to book them in to another class for the next school holidays and I will be looking out for another interesting class they can enjoy. I can highly recommend this painting workshop.

Having never used acrylic paints I felt this was a good place to start. Due to the messy nature of the class not sure 1 hour was long enough, nor enough information given on mixing ratios for larger canvases. However I thought it was good value for money. It will be interesting to see the items when fully dried in 24 hrs time.

It was a nice activity but it was not at all structured, no pictures to follow and too short really 45mins would have been better. The member of staff was nice enough but she literally just handed out the clay! No guidance was given and it was up to us to Google pictures for the children to follow!

The lady greeted us with a "I've only just been asked to do this class" which wasn't great to start with.
It felt very rushed for the children. They wanted to do it by themselves but didn't have time for this. The lady was telling them to hurry up from 10 mins into the workshop.

This was a fabulous workshop. The leader was very personable, knowledgeable and talked us through everything very clearly. All resources were provided and we all had great fun.
I'm so pleased with the results that I've bought the resources I need to make some more at home.

The only drawback was the lack of time - an hour is not enough time for the baubles to dry which meant a trip back to store to collect them. Easy for me as it's 10 minutes from home, but not so easy for others. I finished them at home, and love the end product.

We had a lovely wreath making workshop, led by Joy at the Southampton store. Joy was friendly and helpful. We were in a studio room to the side of the store, and it was nice to not be on the shop floor. It meant we could relax and chat without worrying about disturbing other shoppers. The materials provided were good, as pictured in the advert. I feel it was good value for money considering it was a private workshop and at a time that suited us. Really enjoyed the wreath making experience and will be looking at future classes here, too.

A very enjoyable and informative workshop. I have watched beginners crochet videos on Youtube in the past and given up. It was so much better having someone there to answer questions, and take time to go over things. We were all put at ease, and encouraged when correcting a mistake. As a left-hander, I was able to follow along. There was plenty of wool included, to carry on practicing at home, and a clear instruction sheet was included.

This was great. I took my three year old and it was perfect for her. Her attention span isn’t great but that didn’t matter at all - she still created a masterpiece that I will get out every year! The other children were a similar age or slightly older. There were simple materials all laid out for her to choose from and easy to use. The leader was very warm, welcoming and helpful (especially for me as I was holding my fussy eight month old whilst trying to help my three year old!) Would definitely attend again.

Advertised as 1 hour class, after 20 minutes kids told to hurry up as they only had 10 minutes left. When Contacted customer services told the hour is only a guide. Other reviews said they had whole hour. So maybe depends on teacher and location, make enquiries first.

Very nice time spent learning about watercolour painting. 1 hour really wasn't enough, maybe 1.15 or 1.30 would be better so as not feel rushed. Fortunately there were only 2 of us in the class but if there were more then the time limit could have been more of an issue. The equipment supplied was excellent. The tutor was inexperienced at teaching but not at painting which helped. End result was good and gave me enthusiasm to try more at home.

Really enjoyed the seascape watercolour class.
Very pleasant and knowledgeable teacher. Clear instructions given and learnt a lot within a short space of time.
Also, good equipment provided. Nice to partake in a small class rather than lots of people.
Would definitely like to do another class.
Only comment I would make is that 1.5 hrs would be better than 1hr.

Unfortunately items were not laid out ready. The children made the pictures and then the cricut wouldn’t warm up so they got a new cricut, plugged it in and it blew up. Had to wait 40 minutes for them to be ironed. We were given a voucher as compensation.

Had a lovely time , made to feel very welcome. The room and facilities were good although it was a bit too warm in there. Materials provided were really nice and made a great wreath. Value for money as I was able to take home any unused decoration. Made a really sturdy wreath and asked lots of questions that were all answered and suggestions given. Gill is a lovely lady and made me feel relaxed. We went through two things I wanted to learn how to do and she was very patient with me and showed me how to get them right. I even brought home what I made. I was able to ask questions and also got advice on what products were best to use. Only one slight negative, I wasn't ask how much experience I had using a sewing machine but maybe that is something I could have put down in the comments before hand. Overall a good experience.

My acrylic paint pouring workshop was rescheduled due to staff sickness, but I was kept informed and offered either a refund or reschedule, choosing the latter.
So pleased I did, the replacement teacher was great, very enthusiastic and extremely helpful.
Really good value for money, not only the tutoring, but the included kit plus other pieces to pour on to. I loved this workshop and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a go. I love my pieces

A much needed boost to get me off the starting block! From meeting the very friendly and knowledgeable lady, (Chrissey) having a chat for a few minutes to ascertain my sewing abilities, and what kind of things i wanted to make. Going out into the shop to explain/show some things what was recommended to help me, explaining about different needles for the sewing machine for different fabrics which I never knew! I didn't realise I was learning so much! It was very much worth the 20 pounds for a relaxing, inspirational lesson! Back home afterwards I can thread the bobbins successfully remember little things like starting to sew with needle already down into the material! Yes a complete beginner! Will come back for another lesson in about a months time! Thank you

The venue was OK but the lay out of the room could have been better especially it would have helped to have had blinds at the windows to stop the glare from outside which made it difficult to see what the teacher was doing.

The staff member delivering the course was so kind and welcoming and clearly had knowledge on Cricut machines through their own self taught hobby. I must admit, I expected the staff member to have been on some formal training and stop be able to deliver a structured course, especially having been asked to give details before hand as to what I hoped to get out of it. The room was set up professionally and all the kit was available to try. However, the one hour was not structured well enough and so I don’t feel I got £20 worth of Cricut knowledge from it. I really did enjoy the ladies company and she did leave me with some great YouTube channels to follow, some hacks to try and asked what I needed/wanted but it wasn’t a ‘beginners guide’ that I was expecting.

The woman taking the class was lovely and friendly but it was all very rushed and frantic. Definitely needs to be a 45mins to 1 hour session. There also wasn’t very much clay. We used the equivalent of two packs of clay between two of us (we had paid for two spaces). I was disappointed to find out we could have bought the clay for £1 a packet. It would have been much cheaper to buy the clay ourselves. There wasn’t much guidance from the lady. No tools were provided either. Not good value for money.

Not as good as the Easter kids workshop where each child was given a paper bag full of foam. This time each bag was shared out between several children so there were fewer items made. Instructor was fine but again not as friendly as the previous one who learnt all the children’s names and have a sense of fun and joy to the workshop.

Dylan was an enthusiastic and skilled teacher, demonstrating what to do to the whole class and giving individual attention where necessary. It was a small group and the room was a good size for the number of people with plenty of light.

Great venue with nice room for lessons. There were only four of us, which was great but it would have been nicer if the lady had introduced herself and encouraged us to share names too.
It was unfortunate to have had time wasted by slow learners, I felt we could have made better progression. It would also be better to provide on going lessons, as beginners we learned two stitches and have now hit a dead end.

Our experience with Emily was phenomenal. She was brilliant at taking us through the brush lettering skills and was so creative at providing additional ideas for lettering or decorative techniques like flourishes, vines, and wreaths. Emily was a delight - so kind, funny, and engaging. We truly hope that these in-person classes continue to be provided so that others have the opportunity to enjoy the experience as we did! Gill was very helpful, but because I was querying stitch tension it would have made sense to have been able to take my own sewing machine. I was also disappointed that my machine, 19S, was not available to use. This was not made clear in the course information and I feel Hobbycraft misrepresented the scope of a 1-to-1 session.

The session was done in the main bit of the store with lots of distractions. Emily who was my ‘teacher’ had a tablet that didn’t work properly for her(not her fault) and when we had made a design it wouldn’t print due to lack of Wi-Fi in the store so I came away with a blank to try at home.
Emily answered some questions I had however I feel that both of us were set for failure partly where the demo took place and partly due to Wi-Fi. Having paid £15 for the half an hour slot I feel that I did not get my money s worth which I feel very disappointed with. Again Emily was very helpful however the environment and lack of facilities meant that the session was unable to be as successful as it should have been

Great course as I have knitted for years and never been able to crochet. This has started me off. The teacher was excellent, so patient, understanding and nothing was too much trouble. The venue was good but a little cold, we all kept our coats on. The pack of grey and mustard wool was very nice but the grey was to dark to be able to see your stitches very well so maybe think about putting a lighter grey or different colour in. I was pleased to come away with a piece of work that I had completed by myself. Could have been a longer session with perhaps follow up sessions. On the whole a wonderful experience.

The venue was very cosy, and teacher was brilliant. Small class meant we could get individual help when needed. This was the first workshop I had ever done, but it certainly won't be the last. I enjoyed every minute of it, and now have a lovely wreath to show over Christmas. I was very happy with the price - and all that was included in it, I was even allowed to take the leftovers home, including a glue gun. Thank you, Hobby Craft!

Teacher was good and the room was cosy. It was good that we could take the glue gun home. It would be good to have had a choice of a coloured ribbon as well as the hessian ribbon and maybe a few different pieces to glue on such as orange slices/hilly berries to give a bit more colour. The workshop gave me a good basis for creating my own wreaths from items I can collect myself.

Booked the class to get a feel for the laser engraving possibilities as I was considering making an investment in a glowforge machine.
Anne was really lovely and we spent quite some time discussing the machine and it's capabilities.

There was a lot of trial and error and poor visibility of the placement on the tablet screen. But in the end a little clip art and Anne was able to get a lovely little decorative chopping board laser etched.

As for the machine, the inability to Bluetooth send basic art work from my phone to the machine is a major down side. I was also unfortunately disappointed in the height of item it was possible to engrave. Curved surfaces also not possible.
I was impressed with the examples of acrylic cutting, gave perfect glossy edges.

never done macrame before , but was excited to try . the workshop was perfect for a beginner , the packs were brilliant . everything was explained and demonstrated step by step . we didn't finish the macrame pot holder in the time allowed, but everything we needed to know on how to complete the project was explained and demonstrated before we left .I completed my pot holder the same evening.

Emily was lovely, I explained that I was thinking about buying a Cricut machine but couldn't decide in which one or how they worked.

Emily took me into the Studio and she was really lovely, she showed me how the Cricut machine and software works, we even made a stencil and a vinyl sticker with backing card. She also explained about the different types of media the machine cuts and the blade and setting for each type. I must have asked a hundred questions and she answered all of them, she made me feel like nothing was too much trouble.

Chrissie was fabulous, very knowledgeable and supportive (even with the most stupid of questions). I did feel the training taking place in the middle of the store, with relatively little desk space and having to stand up for the session, were not ideal, it also unfortunately meant that visiting customers were not aware that we were in a 1:1 training session, and understandably wanted to ask (Chrissie) questions.

Attended Dino Fossil work shop with Julia in Southampton store. My 5 year old son had a great time and was really pleased with his fossils and models that he made. i think £35 is too much to charge for this workshop. It was good experience and lovely staff but i would not say it is a good value for money. Learnt a few technique but i could easily done so from available online videos.

I had a lovely hour with my dad learning Brush Lettering. Our teacher Anne was brilliant and patient, she explained what was in our pack then showed us how to use the brush pens and how to use the templates. Anne answered questions, happily demonstrated letters and we all loved learning to draw vines and flowers with the pens.
The pack to keep contained excellent quality items including: 8 metallic Brush Markers, an A4 practice pad and letter templates with a gorgeous note book and packet of tags to use to show off your new skill.
Thank you for a relaxing creative session, I was chuffed with the progress I made in that quick hour. :)

Emily was fantastic and helped me answer all the questions I had about the cricut joy. I booked onto the beginners class but I ended up knowing most already so Emily adapted the class to my needs. No one else had booked on so I ended up having a 1 on 1. Great value for money. The room it was held in was brilliant. I don't think I would have enjoyed it on the shop floor.
To improve the class I think leaflets/guides could be provided at end of class as a reminder on how to use the cricut.

We have attended numerous sessions for ceramic painting and the lady ( I can’t think of her name) but she starts at 5am and works till 2 as we chatted about this during the session is always chatty, smiling and great with the kids (not sure if I would be so with a 5am start!) I arrived for my class early only to be informed that it had not been booked. Further investigation by the staff proved me to be right and I was taken to the cricut stand in the store.
I informed the member of staff that I had booked a one to one private session and was informed that there was not a room for us to use as they were doing interviews.
The member of staff was quite embarrassed and offered a design space workshop, however this did not go to plan as there was a problem with the computer. I did ask if I would receive a refund and was then offered another date one week from today. I agreed that this would be possible but did feel disappointed that this was all I was offered as the problem was Hobbycrafts and I have now to travel twice the distance (with fuel costs at a premium) for one session. I would appreciate some kind of compensation in view of the problems I have encountered,

I booked the lesson for my Granddaughter who had been given a sewing machine but didn't know where to start, Gill was very patient with her and Lottie left the lesson looking forward to getting home and start her dream of designing and making her own outfits. She went off with a cushion cover that she made herself feeling very pleased with herself. Would highly recommend the 1 hour long lesson for all budding seamstresses out there. Will definitely go back for more advance teachings once Lottie has more confidence using her little machine. Thank Gill

Spent a 1:1 session with Gill who was patient and gentle with my 9y/o. Venue was great had not realised there was a studio space to do projects. It was good to be able to choose material from a selection. Class was excellent value for money. We made a pencil case with concealed zip.

Emily made me feel at home from the min I saw her. I was anxious, given my age, she explained how I could get around my problems with my aged wrist, and it worked. Although of a senior age, I am willing to be educated in the Crafing World. The course was friendly and relaxed. She also pointed out other mediums that could be used for myself. Suggested I practice until I got there. She even showed me how to produce a wheat ear, or lavender, which I did sucessfully achieve and thank you Emily for that. Well done, the course supplied everything I needed in a kit, with encouragement to practice and practice. I even said I would return in a month to show my improvement, however small that might be. Since returning home I have put that practice into progress, and would really recondment this course, so book it up. The other workshop members were friendly and helped to put me at ease. Thank you.

The teacher fran was amazing as I am deaf my 1 2 1 session was in the art studio and fran removed her mask so i could lip read too as well listening. The product I waa learning about was the cricut joy machine and I learned exactly what I wanted and would definitely pay again for a 1 2 1 session

A lovely venue. The person taking the session was very encouraging, she ran through the items in our packs and explained how to use the brush pens to produce thin and thinker lines. Everyone was asking questions and appeared very comfortable. The only problem was the time went too fast!

I really enjoyed my fluid art workshop with Joy. She explained the procedures clearly and answered all my questions.
The room was suitable for a small class. Only thing missing was tea /coffee making facilities!
The paints that came with the kit were great and enough to practise later at home.
I think the price was reasonable, particularly as I was lucky enough to have 1:1 tuition!
I would recommend this workshop for anyone wanting to try something new. I'm looking forward to continuing it at home.

tutor introduced herself upon arrival and proceeded to explain the contents of the box, set up electrical plugs for the use of our glue guns and then showed us some examples of other wreaths. She then went on to show us how to tie a bow onto the wreath, only hope i remember it later on lol.

Jill was wonderful and it’s not her fault at all, but I’m so disappointed that everything online clearly stated that we weren’t to bring our own sewing machine (even the email reminder sent out the day before repeated in bold that we weren’t to bring our own sewing machine!) when you need to bring your own machine! The session was a present for my Aunt and it means i will have to pay again for another session now to bring the machine, so frustrating

This course was great. Annie was a fab tutor and gave us not only the options of what we could do with the clay but allowed us time to attempt it She didn't rush at all, allowing us to work at our own pace. We felt comfortable to ask questions as well.

The kit provided was brilliant and such great value, more than I expected if honest.

All in all it was a fun, learning hour and one I would truly recommend. Looking at some of your other courses now.

Our teacher was fantastic and incredibly understanding and accommodating. We were running a couple of minutes late (getting out the house with a baby who wanted to be asleep!), so I went ahead to explain and our wonderful teacher was incredibly calm and even opened the side door so my cousin could get the pushchair in with ease rather than navigating the shop.
The classroom was great and quiet. The materials were exactly what we needed. It might have been fun to have some additional shaped cutters available for use but not to take home.
Excellent value for money. It’s hard to find good value for money indoor activities. It reminded me how much I used to love working with clay at school.

The class with Liam was very helpful, he answered every question we threw at him with no hesitation, and yes,we did bombard him with questions, this has made up my mind, maker 3 is the one fir me, as mum was with me she is going to buy probably the maker or Air fir her daughter, very impressed, thank you for

Lisa was lovely and made it very straightforward. Not much instruction but then not much was needed. Good equipment - didn't know quite what we would be getting! Lovely small group and felt very safe. Really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this class. I was the only participant but that made it great as I had 1:1 tuition. Lisa was very friendly and chatty and talked me through how to do everything and we had great fun making the baubles. The end products look really good. My husband thought I’d bought them in store he didn’t realise I’d made them myself! After the class Lisa took me round to the Christmas aisle in store so I could see the rest of the Christmas range and I ended up buying more bits . Would definitely recommend.

Just spent an enjoyable afternoon at an Advent Calendar Workshop at Hobbycraft Southampton. Lisa, our teacher, was lovely, gave clear instructions and lots of encouragement. She also shared her ideas of extra ways to finish it. The wooden calendar is of good quality and came with all the paints, brushes, glitter and glue. I recommend this workshop, it was lots of fun. A thank you to the lady who played Christmas music on her phone

Kids loved the workshop. Lisa was very welcoming and created a relaxed atmosphere. There was a good choice of items to paint and a great choice of colours to paint with in addition to the colours that come with the kits. The boys had just enough time to complete their designs but the girls like to take their time and needed longer so they will complete them at home. The room was a good size and tucked away from customers which was nice. An improvement would be if you could leave the items to dry for a bit perhaps while you look around the shop before boxing up to take home. Great price for the workshop, would definitely recommend!

Lisa our teacher was very friendly and helped the children pick out their ceramics and choose the paint colours they wanted. She made us feel welcome. I thought the class was grey value for money and will definitely recommend to friends and family. The materials were all laid out ready which was great as no time was wasted!

class was fun, room a little small for 5 people and usually there are even more.
Teacher, Lisa, was fantastic. So nice and very helpful.
Equipment was nice but a little pricey.

Lisa was very good and helped with ideas. The venue was very cramped so no distance between the five people that attended, including Lisa made it six. We are still in very serious times with covid, which is not over despite what people may think. Ventilation in the room was non existent and as a senior person I felt very vulnerable and wore my face mask all the time, which the others didn’t wear at all.

The box I received was really nice, it was like a parcel and I love the colour wool which I had inside. The number of girls in the group was just enough to give me lots of help.
