What types of glass art can I try?

The world of glass art classes is incredibly diverse, offering a brilliant spectrum of techniques for you to explore, right here in Liverpool! Here’s a peek at some of the dazzling types you might happily try:

• Stained glass classes: Step into a timeless tradition! You'll learn the intricate process of cutting colourful pieces of glass, grinding their edges, wrapping them with copper foil or lead came, and then soldering them together to create beautiful, light-catching panels or decorative items for your home. These workshops are perfect for those who admire classic artistry and enjoy meticulous work.
• Glass blowing classes: Ready for a truly dramatic and exciting experience? In a glass blowing class, you'll work with molten glass, heating it in a furnace and shaping it with special tools and breath. This is a fiery, mesmerising craft that creates stunning, organic forms like vases or paperweights. It offers a thrilling, active way to experience glass blowing firsthand and create something utterly unique.
• Sea glass art: Embrace the beauty of nature’s treasures! Sea glass art involves using unique, ocean-tumbled pieces of glass to create charming collages, jewellery, or decorative items. It's a wonderfully calming and creative way to transform found objects into art, giving them a second life and a new story.
• Fused glass art: Discover the magic of melting! This technique involves layering different pieces of glass, often coloured or textured, and then heating them in a kiln until they fuse together. You can create vibrant coasters, jewellery, dishes, or intricate wall hangings with this fascinating method. The results are wonderfully smooth and luminous, showcasing the beauty of melted glass.
• Glass painting: Add colour directly to glass surfaces! In glass painting, you'll use special paints to decorate windows, vases, or glassware, transforming plain items into personalised, colourful works of art. It’s a versatile and accessible way to bring artistic flair to everyday objects, allowing for intricate designs or bold, abstract patterns.
