Find Renewable Joy with These Planet-friendly Trending Crafts

By Victoria Haynes

2026 is shaping up to be the year of eco-conscious living, bringing crafts with an earth-friendly focus right to the top of our (lengthy!) to-try lists. From waste-saving Kintsugi and all-natural perfume making to glass terrariums filled with luscious greenery, it’s clear that this year, we’ll be focusing on creativity that’s nourishing for the heart, the soul and the planet.

So whether you’re keen to go green, want to build a happy crafty community or just fancy embracing a new hobby, we’ve rounded up the top planet-positive crafts to get stuck into in 2026. Grab your gang, roll up those sleeves and get creating!

Embrace zero-waste crafting with kintsugi

If you love the idea of turning trash into treasure, then prepare to dive headfirst into the perfectly imperfect world of kintsugi. With a whopping 483,000 posts on Instagram, and Google searches for kintsugi lifting almost 3 times compared to last year, it’s clear that the beautiful Japanese art of mending with gold is one trend that’s here to stay – and quite rightly too! From the zero-waste element to the soothing creativity, this gentle, mindful craft is as good for your body and soul as it is the earth.

It’ll nourish you because…

  • Kintsugi is a naturally meditative craft, meaning you can switch off from those everyday stresses and lose yourself in the process.
  • The act of repair encourages us to accept those small imperfections, and helps us to remember that individuality is beautiful!

It’s kind to the earth because…

  • Choosing to repair rather than replace focuses more on working with what we’ve got and less on buying new.
  • We think once you’ve got your first kintsugi project under your belt, you’ll be well and truly bitten with the mending bug – today, pottery, tomorrow, the world!

Why not try…

Our kintsugi pottery class for beginners from the wonderfully talented Brandon Le continues to rise in popularity, with almost 1,400 five-star reviews and counting – our ClassBento crafters clearly think it’s one that’s not to be missed! Led by Brandon himself, you’ll learn all about the history and philosophy of this fascinating craft, before getting stuck into your very own repair.

Great experience, excellent teachers, very knowledgeable and helpful. Brilliant equipment and very pleased with the end result! Donna Jackson

Craft consciously with soy candle making

Who doesn’t love candles? From cosy evenings on the sofa to an ultra-soothing bathtime, a gentle flickering flame is a great way to level up your down-time – and making your own means you can leave the shop-bought versions on the shelf! With the amount of budding crafters browsing our soy candle making classes almost doubling over the last three months, and people searching for ‘vegan candles’on Google lifting by over 100% we predict 2026 will be the year to ignite your eco-friendly creativity!

It’ll nourish you because…

  • Candle making is a calming creative outlet – lose yourself in the melting, blending and pouring, and find some of that wonderful inner peace.
  • Adding fragrance with essential oils is great for the body and mind; soothing scents such as lavender, chamomile, rose and ylang ylang help to improve sleep, reduce stress and calm anxiety.

It’s kind to the earth because…

  • Soy wax comes from the soybean, meaning they’re cruelty-free and burn cleanly – better for the bees, better for the air, and better for you!
  • Vegan candles are biodegradable, which means any leftovers break down naturally – and won’t end up in landfill.

Why not try…

Tuning into your eco-friendly creative side, with a candle making class from Dai-Kor in Shoreditch. From their 11,000 strong army of TikTok fans to working with huge brands such as Deloitte, Google and Bloomberg, it’s clear they’re the go-to for all things candle-making! With refreshments included to fuel the session, you’ll have plenty of energy to learn all about the art of vegan candle making, before melting, blending and pouring your way to success!

Renee was super clear and friendly. It was great to decide on scents and then do our own pouring, mixing, and labelling. The cupcakes were an added bonus! Looking forward to burning my candle soon. Alice Knight

Cultivate green dreams with glass terrarium making

Whether you’ve got green fingers that need nurturing or you want to harness the healing power of nature, 2026 is the year to dig in and get your hands dirty! With Pinterest predicting a surge in self-sufficient gardens and people searching Google for ‘DIY terrarium kits’ lifting by almost 300% over the last three months, we think these miniature gardens are about to take the craft world by storm. Perfect for anyone short on time, money or outdoor space, they’re the perfect way to bring the outside in – and with a huge uptick in crafters browsing our top terrarium class, it’s clear the craft community agree!

It’ll nourish you because…

  • Nature is good for the mind, body and soul, and working with plants can help to whisk you away from the day-to-day and reduce those rising stress levels.
  • Terrarium making is a great way to get creative! Choosing the plants and their arrangements and picking decorative elements can be just as artistic as getting stuck into painting, pottery or printing.

It’s kind to the earth because…

  • Creating and caring for a terrarium is a great way to learn more about plant life, ecosystems and sustainability. Knowledge is power!
  • Plants improve indoor air quality – and while it might not be much, every little helps!

Why not try..

Rolling up those sleeves and creating a miniature Jurassic Park (complete with dinosaur figures!) with a terrarium making class from the Botanical Boys in Kings Cross. Led by two enthusiastic plant professionals who won Gold at the Chelsea Flower Show, and armed with a selection of foliage, moss, stones and decorations, you’ll learn everything you need to know about crafting and caring for your very own glass terrarium.

We had the best time at the terrarium masterclass! We learned about the history of terrariums and were given top tips on how to make and care for our creations. Our teacher, “Ginger” Mike, was incredible and made everyone feel welcomed, and provided some great entertainment! Ruby Donaldson

Handcraft heavenly scents with natural perfume making

Fancy creating your own bespoke fragrance? Whether you’re into fresh florals, earthy musks or energising citrus fragrances, learning to make natural perfume will let you craft your dream scent – and the best bit is, there’s no chemicals involved! Don’t just take our word for it either – perfumery has recently cemented itself as one of our most popular classes and with a 30% increase in crafters searching Google for ‘perfume making’ we think 2026 is going to be the year you can ditch the chemicals and fill the air with the sweet smell of sustainability!

It’ll nourish you because…

  • You’ll get to blend your own completely bespoke fragrance, that perfectly fits your individual style.
  • Aromatherapy is incredibly therapeutic! If you need a little lift, you can whip up a fruity, citrusy scent to invigorate your senses, while if you’re feeling stressed out, lavender and chamomile are your best friends.

It’s kind to the earth because…

  • Making your own perfume means you can leave out any synthetic chemicals that are damaging to the environment – kinder to the planet, and kinder to your skin!
  • There’s less packaging involved – perfumes can be stored in glass containers, which you can reuse every time you create a fabulous new fragrance.

Why not try…

A natural perfume making class with EPOCH London founder and aromatherapist Lizzy Humphreys, where you’ll learn all about the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy, discover the secrets behind blending fragrances and whip up your own all-natural perfume roller. You’re guaranteed to have a scent-sational time!

I came with my nieces for their birthdays, and we all loved the class and came home with perfume rollers. Thanks Lizzy for a lovely couple of hours! Vron Leslie

Build a greener wardrobe with mindful sewing

With almost two times as many crafters browning our sewing classes than ever before, and the amount of people searching Google for ‘upcycling clothes’ and ‘sashiko’ lifting by 39%, we think it’s time to grab your needle and thread and embrace the DIY wardrobe revolution! Whether you’ve got some tired trousers that need a little attention, you fancy learning how to make clothes from scratch or you’d like to master the perfect French knot, learning a few stitching skills means you’ll soon have a planet-friendly wardrobe all sewn up!

It’ll nourish you because…

  • Sewing is one craft that will definitely fire up your creativity! Mix up fabrics, experiment with colour and stitching and even dive into beading – you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve!
  • If you’re looking for a gentle, mindful hobby, the soothing repetitive stitches will allow you to get completely lost in the wonderful world of needlework.

It’s kind to the planet because…

  • Getting a few stitching skills under your belt reduces textile waste and contributes to a circular economy. And you get to love your old favourites that bit longer – it’s a win-win!
  • Making your own clothes from scratch means you can be super choosy with your materials; ditch polyester for organic cottons, rummage in charity shops for fabric remnants, and experiment with natural, plant-based dyes.

Why not try…

Diving headfirst into the world of textiles with an intensive sewing class from Fashion Antidote in Wood Green. Aimed at complete beginners and those with a few basic stitching skills, you’ll be led by former London College of Fashion lecturer Susan Backhouse, and will learn everything from choosing and setting up a sewing machine right through to sewing darts and buttonholes – your DIY wardrobe is only 5 hours away!

The next day I was able to fix 4 pieces of clothing. Need I say more? This class really gave me the confidence to just get going with the correct technique – I’d recommend it to anyone interested in beginning! Jonjo Murphy

Design mindful homeware with jesmonite casting

It might be too early to call it, but with Google searches for jesmonite casting lifting by over 80% and almost double the amount of budding crafters browsing our eco-resin classes, we think this cool craft could possibly just be the next big thing! From on-trend marbled coasters to vibrant colour-blocked plants pots, getting creative with this eco-friendly, water based resin will soon have you in handmade homeware heaven!

It’ll nourish you because…

  • Jesmonite casting is a great way to unlock your creativity; marbling, colour-layering, adding texture and creating terrazzo – the world’s your oyster!
  • The blending and pouring is incredibly soothing, making it a great way to unwind.

It’s kind to the earth because…

  • Jesmonite is water-based and low VOC, which means it contains absolutely no harmful chemicals.
  • It’s super strong! Your beautifully crafted coasters and pots will stand the test of time, and are less likely to end up in landfill.

Why not try…

Rolling up those sleeves and exploring the endless possibilities of resin casting at a jesmonite casting workshop from Francesca Pappacoda at Salt Studios in South East London. With over 180 glowing online reviews and a 30k following on Instagram, this is the place to go if you want to master resin moulding! Working with a water-based, solvent-free resin, you’ll learn how to mix, blend and pour your way to success, finishing the class with your own handmade colourful terrazzo plant pot.

Francesca was great! The workshop was really well organised, she gave clear instructions and lots of hands on advice. She answered all my questions and I came away with a lovely pot. Highly recommended! Mia Allers
