Learn how to build a traditional cob pizza oven with the help of expert teacher David Alty at this fun all-day workshop near Penrith!

Starting with an existing plinth, you will prepare, level and install a fire brick base and learn all about the importance of materials to use and insulation levels in your oven.

Your teacher will cover clay and material selections and discuss dimension options before you start mixing the cob with bare feet and create a sand form for the actual oven shape. Tasks are shared across your group to ensure the experience of every stage is acquired!

Once the cob is ready, the group will prepare the loaves to cover the sand form and create the final oven shape.

At the end of this fun class, you'll have all of the knowledge you need to head home and create your very own outdoor pizza oven in your garden!

Please note:
Over the day you will be handling and treading the cob (earth, sand and clay mix) in bare feet (you don’t have to do this bit, as there are always plenty of volunteers!).
