Come and supercharge your creativity with the help of expert teacher Roy Simmons at this oil pastels class for beginners near Penrith! Explore still life painting in a spontaneous way and hone your art skills in a welcoming space!
You'll look into different ways of working, focusing on a speedy and loose approach, discuss lost and found edges, learn about elements of chiaroscuro (light and dark) and explore counter-change, the deliberate arranging of light against dark and dark against light.
Roy will then complete a still life piece, demonstrating from the front using a camera and large screen so you can remain at your desk as you follow along step-by-step. After a short lunch break, you will complete more studies, working from supplied photos or the objects around you!
Don't worry if you don't know how to use oil pastels, as your teacher will provide an introduction to the materials and tools, lead exercises and support you throughout as you experiment with the incredibly versatile medium of oil pastel.
At the end of this mixed media painting class for beginners, you'll choose your favourite piece to be fixed and mounted, ready to display at home!
Please note: there will be a materials charge payable directly to the tutor on the day in cash of approx £5 depending on the materials used.
