What you'll do
This class is aimed at kids who've attended a beginner's sewing class (can thread up a sewing machine and have made simple projects) and would like to progress their skills. During this workshop, you will make a gorgeous make-up or wash bag that is lined and has a zipper to close.During the beginner's class, you will have mastered how to set up a sewing machine – winding the bobbin, threading machine and controlling the speed and direction of sewing – then making a cushion cover!Taking this to the next level you can easily progress onto fitting a zip, lining and precision in cutting and sewing a smaller item - i.e. the washbag.After this class, you'll be ready to join our dressmaking class and start making your own clothes!

Knowledge required
Intermediate - must have attended a beginner's sewing class or can thread a sewing machine without supervision and able t0 sew in straight and curved lines.
What to bring
Just yourself and a 'can do' attitude You are welcome to bring along your own machine or use one in the studio.

The Edinburgh Sewcial Club first opened its doors in 2014 teaching garment making, sewing machine skills, pattern cutting, embroidery and other textiles crafts to people of all ages, levels of ability and experience in evening and weekend workshops and courses in Meadowbank, Edinburgh.Our relaxing, fun, social classes are a great way to try something new and learn a practical craft and skill! Now, as well as dressmaking and sewing there are also a number of other textile crafts taught, beading, embroidery, upcycling & mending even fleece mermaid tail blankets! Our 'sewcial club' is a friendly environment to get creative!Come and discover what you can do!
