In this engaging workshop, you'll have the opportunity to learn various mending techniques that celebrate and highlight the art of repair. Whether you have a favorite pair of jeans with a hole or a beloved sweater that needs some TLC, this class will teach you how to mend your clothes in a way that transforms them into unique, artistic pieces.

Throughout the session, you'll delve into the world of patching with a range of embroidery techniques, exploring how different stitches can enhance the beauty of your repaired garments. From traditional darning techniques to the intricate sashiko stitches, you'll learn how to create visually striking patterns that not only mend your clothes but also celebrate the repair process.

The Craft Barn, with its beautiful and airy atmosphere, will be the venue for this inspiring workshop. As you gather with fellow crafting enthusiasts, you'll be surrounded by a supportive community of individuals who share your passion for creating and revitalizing garments. Feel free to bring your own clothes in need of repair, or simply come and create samples using the wide array of fabrics we have available.

Throughout the class, you can expect a nurturing and uplifting environment, perfect for both beginners and experienced crafters. Our expert instructors will guide you through each technique, breaking down the process into simple steps while encouraging your creativity to shine. You may feel a sense of accomplishment as you mend and transform your clothes, turning imperfections into stunning design details.

By the end of the workshop, you'll not only have acquired new skills and techniques, but you'll also have a beautiful collection of repaired clothes to take home. These unique pieces will showcase your craftsmanship and serve as a testament to the art of mending.

Travelling workshops run by Kim Searle.

All my workshops are based on encouraging sustainability, building community and supporting attendees well-being. I am passionate about ensuring craft sessions are accessible to all, providing discounts on most courses for people on low/no incomes, seeking out venues that are wheelchair accessible and ensuring that workshops are calming with more of an emphasis on enjoyment and new skills over perfection.

I also run workshops at festivals including Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Underneath the Stars, Deershed, Wychwood Cornbury, Greenbelt, Just So, Beacons, FarmFest, BeatHerder and more!

I studied BA (Hons) Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in textile printing. I’ve also studied weaving, felting, bookbinding, dark room photography and fine art printing at L'Ecole des Beaux Artes at Besancon, The Academy of Design in Kuopio and Leeds University, as well as studying a range of creative techniques on a foundation course at UcCA Canterbury.
