A warm welcome from Ali, and a really lovely afternoon where we had an informed and supportive sewing time. Ali doe started and explained everything so well. It was great to learn new skills and also tackle a personal project. I valued the chance to share ideas and see different approaches. Also appreciated the encouragement and inspiration provided. Loads of resources to help us and lots of tips and advice along the way. The background historical information about Sashiko was wonderful and put everything in such an interesting context. Thanks so much for a great workshop.

Out teacher Ali gave us a bit of background to the sashiko craft then a short walk through of the tools required before creating our own sampler. After that we did individual projects incorporating the sampler if desired. A very well organised class which I would recommend. I was using a gift card and had no issues redeeming the card.

Only minus was the venue, I thought it would be more bright and artistic within the building but was very disappointed.

Ali is a great teacher who arranged her class to cater to various levels and encourage individual projects. It was very good value for four hours - and I found the time flew by. I'm not an experienced nor natural sewer but was instilled with confidence and really liked the fact after intial Instruction task we could go in our own direction. As a teacher I've been to lots of classes where the lead might be knowledgeable and skilled but don't deliver effectively -Ali does! I loved the other people and the great chat as well as the sewing - I'd be happy to come every week if im honest and it has definitely inspired me to continue with Sashiko. Excellent class highly recommend.

Having a smaller group allowed for a lot of one on one discussions and advice on how to go about personal projects.

We got to make a sashiko sample and then either bought a project along or could choose from the lovely selection of materials available. I would highly recommend this class.

Then I followed a pattern and completed a small design on a square of fabric which can be used as a coaster. All materials were supplied at the class. I began sewing a larger design on fabric that I'll make into a cushion cover. I'm now finishing this at home. I've wanted to learn this craft for a while and very happy that I attended this relaxed class with a very talented teacher.

The teacher was so welcoming and friendly I felt like we could try new things without worrying about mistakes or asking for help. I would definitely come again to another session especially with the same teacher, she was so knowledgeable and helpful! The time seemed to vanish while we were having so much fun working on our embroidery. I've been showing off my Sashiko to everyone and now I want to add it onto all my clothes! The venue was like being back in art college, a bit confusing to find the building at first but the instructions we received via email were very helpful!

Session was very relaxed and picked up some really useful tips. Definitely a new skill set I'll be practicing more! The setup of the class allowed us all to do a sample pattern meaning I left feeling like I'd achieved something tangible but also got some great advice on a mending project I had wanted to do.

I loved how along with learning a technic the class was also the discovery of a specific esthetic, and it's history and struggles. Liked the fact that everything was provided so no need to buy supplies for a craft I might choose not to progress with - I'm hooked though! Good lighting. Easily accessible by public transport - 'bus door to door. Another reason I appreciated not having to carry supplies. Friendly small group. A very enjoyable afternoon.

Sitting there switching, chatting and chilling with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The room was light and airy, all equipment provided. The only downside for myself was I couldn't find the place. I've never been to the venue before, didn't even know it existed. My satnav did keep saying turn left but there are no signs to indicate that the work base is there just states that it's Meadowbank House. No signs that I saw indicated St. Margaret's.

Everything was explained thoroughly and the whole atmosphere was very relaxing and friendly. It was inspiring to be within the artist studio, surrounded by various textiles projects. There was plenty of opportunity to talk to the other participants, whilst we were stitching and that was a very welcome and enjoyable aspect of the course. The four hours flew by and now I’m looking forward to developing my skills and understanding at home. This course was really super value for money, considering the expertise of the teacher and the fact that everything was provided for us!

Appreciated the preprinted patterns, but that felt more robotic and the cloth wasn't pleasant to touch. Perhaps starting off, we could have used a stencil and made our own white marks to practice stitch length. That would have felt more engaging at the beginning. Loved he flexibility to work on our own design.
