2 hours Class size 4 to 12     label £35

Soapmaking can be just as satisfying and addictive as creating candles! In a similar way to making any scented products, you can combine ingredients to suit your mood depending upon whether you want to uplift, energize or promote relaxation.

During this interactive and playful workshop, Sam Peddie of Wirral Candle & Wirral Soap Co, will discuss various melt and pour soap bases that can be used and their benefits along with additions you can use such as natural exfoliants, herbs and botanicals, essential oils and natural pigments or dyes.

You will be guided to create 2 different melt and pour solid soaps using essential oils, which might include recipes such as:-

  • Calendula, Honey & Oatmeal soap This is a pretty and soothing concoction. Calendula is a natural anti-inflammatory; honey nourishes and moisturizes the skin; and oatmeal is a gentle exfoliant. Citrus essential oils make this a cheery, uplifting gentle exfoliating soap.
  • Matcha & Lemongrass This wonderful soap recipe uses a glycerin soap base along with shea butter, matcha powder, lemongrass, eucalyptus and cedarwood essential oils.
  • Rosehip & rose clay Rosehips are full of vitamin C and the combination of rosehip powder with a rose clay creates a lovely soft-pink hue. It is also enhanced with the addition of poppy seeds for a natural exfoliant, and lavender and lemongrass essential oils.

The soaps ideally need to be left 24 hours to solidify and cure but your teacher will aim to have them sufficiently set to transport home. If not, they can be collected from the shop at a later date or posted for a small charge.

A great workshop to help kickstart your home soap making hobby and ideal if you want to make your own gifts for friends and family this year.
