Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

The lady who took the class was friendly and very informative. We was provided with the tools to do the class. Iwas there to learn the basic steps in crochet, the lady also gave hints to other stitches and crochet sites to look at, the class was very good value for money all in all a very enjoyable class

Rebecca at the Ashford store was really friendly and helpful and full of ideas and solutions to the projects I have in mind for a cricut machine. She was able to speak from her own experience regarding the different machines and their capabilities. My mum and I came away with a much better idea of which machine we might like and what we’d like to do with it. I also came away with an iron on design for a t-shirt for my son which he was very excited by! Thank you Rebecca! :-)

1-1 beginners sewing machine 1 hour coure.
Took place in designated space on shop floor. Lots of space given and felt calm.
Teacher understood my daughters needs and was specific about how to do everything, repeating and allowing daughter time to have a go and practice. My daughter felt comfortable to ask questions and afterwards has now got a love for the sewing machine and already planning to make a dress! We know we can go back and ask questions if needed. Very good value for money having a specialist for a 1-1 and having time to make a few things to learn. We also changed our appointment last minute which the company were very understanding of circumstances and we booked another appointment.
Teacher showed how easy things actually were compared to thoughts and feelings of us both. Excellent. Highly recommend.

Such a relaxed atmosphere. Rebecca answered all our questions. She explained everything so clearly and was very patient.

I bought this as a birthday present for my friend, Sarah. We both really enjoyed the workshop and were really pleased with our wreaths.
We were squished between plastic storage boxes and a display stand, good job there wasn't 3 of us.
The teacher was lovely.
I think it was a little expensive as we could have bought the materials and copied from the picture for quite a lot less.
The glue guns need to have longer leads.
Overall a nice session.

Nadia was brilliant and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. I haven't knitted for a long time and only simple scarves but after having a baby I decided I wanted to knit him a little jumper. Wendy in Ashford is a very good teacher. She goes at a good pace, very informative and taught my granddaughter a lot about her new machine in a short time. Felicity made a bag too and did some practice stitches and was shown how changing the tension makes a difference. Also what functions are available and how they would be used.

We were a group of 3 absolute beginners having never held a crochet hook before but walked away in under 2 hours armed with new knowledge and crotchet skills. Our tutor was really good, she explained and showed each of us at our individual pace and we found it easy to understand what we were being taught. The provided wool, hook and info sheets were great quality and lovely to be able to take them home to continue practising. I would not hesitate to recommend the class and all 3 of us are now hooked on crochet.

Great class and great value for money as I learnt a lot. It was a shame that there were clear staffing issues as she had a phone that kept going and she finished 15 mins early. However I did learn a lot and the 2 others in the class made it enjoyable as well.
Great idea and hope that they do further classes like this in the future, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Teacher was very welcoming and supportive and said that she is always around if we need help

Had two different tutors, one started but was left handed so handed over to a colleague. The hour went very quickly. I knew nothing about crochet when I started, but I can now cast on and do a chain stitch. I was taught how to come back on the stitches and do a treble stitch but I think that was a step too far. Now I’ve come home, I can still cast on and do the chain stitch but can’t work out how to come back down the row. Maybe it’s me, I did think the ladies needed a stiff drink at the end of our session.

I cannot recommended this sewing workshop highly enough. Without the tutors expert guidance I would have purchased entirely the wrong machine for my needs. The tutor was highly knowledgeable, friendly and answered all of my questions. I was shown a variety of machines and the made aware of differences between them. I was able to try them out for myself.
I have only just become aware of these craft classes and will be booking more, also recommending to friends and family. Hobbycraft is a lovely store to be in.

Thanks for an informative workshop. It was very interesting and we learnt quite a few processes to help using the machine. It went at a good pace to follow and remember and we came away more confident in using the Cricut.
The workshop could be enhanced with a few information pages as it was quite a lot of information to take in at the time perhaps either as provided or a link on the website.

I booked workshop to find out if a Cricut machine was going to be useful to me and what equipment I would need to get started. I also needed to know what sort of budget I would need. Was shown how to cut card and what blades to use. Unfortunately my main use would be cutting material and the right blade was available. Zoe and her colleague were very helpful and really 'put themselves out' to help and explain things. A very worthwhile workshop.

I had a sewing machine tutorial yesterday with BECCA at the Ashford store. The venue/making space was well situated and easy to use. All materials were close at hand, and plentiful. I learnt all about my machine and how to maintain it as well as how to use it to its full potential.
Becca helped me to make a cute little bag-I did all the work so I ACTUALLY used all the functions of the machine. Excellent tuition from Becca - she gave me confidence and used her extensive knowledge to answer all my questions. What a thoroughly FANTASTIC gift from a friend. It was ok. The instruction was very basic. Janet didn’t really give the children much help or many ideas. Told them what to do and let them get on. There was plenty of paint and brushes. The kids had fun though. I’d definitely book to do something again in the holidays

Becca was a great teacher, and defo well work the money! My one to one sewing session was amazing at boosting my confidence as a beginner and Becca was patient and very easy to learn from. We went over the machine and it's different features and was such a nice drive compared to the machine I have at home.
We went over the different stitches and made a little pouch that I was chuffed with.
Will be looking at other workshops to attend as this was brilliant!

The lady-Zoe-was very lovely who ran the workshop, and my daughter enjoyed herself. I just don't feel it was worth £8 as it was quite quick and there wasn't much to it-didnt use tools or anything. I guess you can't paint it as it doesn't dry fast enough! So maybe more mark making to be done? Had the left over clay though so thank you!

Zoe was welcoming and friendly and had great knowledge on the Cricut machine. She helped me with the project that I am working on and answered lots of problems that I have been struggling with.

Ashford site is great they provided space and had the resources I used readily available to buy if I wanted them.
We went through lots of things I videoed part of the lesson as there were too many steps to write down.

Zoe was amazing. We arrived a few minutes late and she went over all the instructions with my son. He absolutely loved making his decorations. She really encouraged him when he was making it and made us both feel very comfortable. I don’t normally like to do things like this as I get quite anxious but loved how small the group was and felt happy & comfortable. I really enjoyed the workshop its the 2nd one I have paid for and this time I bought my sister along. I would have liked to have rated it 5 stars (like the last one)however when I went to collect the canvases we had made mine had clearly been moved around by staff and incorrectly stored as the pattern on the canvas looked completely different to what I had made, I have pictures to compare. I'd like to raise this further as I'm really disappointed in how my piece hasn't been looked after, prior to its collection and I did have plans for it. Nadia who ran the workshop was great so i cant fault her and the staff in the Ashford branch are always friendly but on this occasion something has gone wrong and I've been left annoyed please look into better storage of people's artwork while they are drying to avoid their disappointment.

We went with our 3 year old under the impression it was a tutorial (so a step by step guide on how to make a Christmas card) but turned up to a table scattered with some white card (maybe green or red would have added to the experience!), glue and pens. We were then offered some glitter and sequins later on in the session. We weren't shown any previous card examples to help provide inspiration or given any guidance. We sat there for 30 minutes while my child glued some sequins and a bit of glitter on white card and then moved on. Waste of money! Not at all what's advertised, do not bother!

Molly was absolutely lovely, a knowledgeable artist with a lovely teaching style. I was lucky enough to be the only one in the workshop so 1 to 1 was a lovely surprise! I left the workshop armed with tips of how to continue my lettering practice and baubles at home, and Molly made me feel confident that I could produce some nice personal family baubles.
My only criticism of the workshop is that doing it in the shop floor means interruptions from other customers, which, although she tried her best to say we were in a workshop some customers persisted in asking questions which interrupted the flow .

Marbling on Christmas baubles was a fantastic workshop, well worth the money, The teacher was fantastic very friendly and welcoming and explained everything but also let us try our own thing. We were supplied with red and blue for marbling but the teacher gave us the opportunity to swop the blue marbling colour for green as we didn't think blue was a christmas colour. Enjoyed it so much after the class I spent a fortune on products to do some at home with grandkids. Will recommend this class to others and be looking to do other classes.

Jan the teacher was friendly and helpful. There were plenty of different materials included in the box, which I liked apart from the huge cones which I personally thought too big and didn’t look right. I learnt how to work with moss and how to arrange the cones etc. I liked that Jan was easy to talk too and she was able to advise me on different materials that I could use when making additional wreaths.

I had a brilliant paint pouring workshop with Nadia at the Ashford store, she was very patient and fun and explained everything so well. I loved learning a new skill , it was well worth the money and the length of the session was perfect , I found it very therapeutic. I have booked on for another of the same workshop next month with my sister as her Christmas present. Loads of people have complimented what I made too, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone even if you are new to art or not confident it's worth trying it, you will love it

But disappointed with this class, not as good as the last one my daughter did at Hobbycraft. First, there were boxes stacked under the table so there was no room for the children’s legs making it uncomfortable for them. Then, they were presented with modelling clay but no inspiration, such as pictures or model ideas to try. The kids just got on with their own thing, with little or no direction from class leader. I ended up googling ideas for them, we could have just done this at home.

Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Staff member teaching was very friendly and easy to talk to. Other staff were friendly and checked in.
I took my 3 year old granddaughter, she did her own thing and didn’t follow instructions or really engage, but it was fine, there was no pressure to join in. We left after 40 minutes, as she struggled to sit still for longer. We had a nice time and I would book again.
I would have liked some visual resources to show what things we could make. Visual resources support different types of learning and would be great for kids, or those who struggle to visualise or think of ideas. An example with clay making, a printed picture with examples of what could be made, and simple instructions.

Beginners guide to crochet was well organised and the instructor Becca was extremely knowledgeable about the craft. She was able to demonstrate the steps clearly and created a relaxed atmosphere to learn. She was quick to spot mistakes when I made them and she showed me how to correct them myself. During the session I was able to ask any craft related questions and get advice on specific areas of crochet that I’m interested in. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn to crochet. This course is suitable for absolute beginners. I had been practicing for a couple of weeks before the course so it was a good opportunity to make sure I was doing the stitches correctly and to check I had the correct tension and technique. Although I already knew some of the stitches I still got a lot out of the session.

Our host was fine, but other staff kept calling him away to manage things on the shop fall.
He had to kept apologising as it wasn't his fault
Also the materials are just dumped in bags.
They should be in containers so children do t need to rummage through untold carrier bags !

Connor the tutor was excellent, full of enthusiasm & good at putting over ideas of how to use the fluid paints in different ways. There was adequate space to operate. A set of 10 paints plus mixing cups, stirrers, palette knives & silicone, 4 small boards and 1 larger art panel. The materials were of good quality and I really enjoyed using them. The class was reasonable value for money - I would have liked another half an hour & then it would have been great. Connor suggested that I work on the 4 small boards and do the art board later when I was more experienced & that was good advice. I learnt what fun the medium is, but that you do need to be careful of not getting your paint all over the place

Even though the staff had not realised we had booked a session, Zoe was very quick to accomodate and spoke really nicely and kindly to the children. She gave a good amount of time to choose a ceramic and then painting her own I though was a really lovely idea to help the children feel at ease and give them ideas. The extra paints that she offered and simple things like the water and paintbrushes were helpful too.

My daughter and her cousin enjoyed their socket puppets class on Saturday morning. The teacher was friendly, patient, and kept the girls chatting and engaged throughout. The materials were good quality and the size of the class, (just 2 kids) was perfect for their age group. Good value, was a nice activity for 7 year olds and they went home with 2 sock puppets each.

Hi l arrived before my time the training didn’t start till after the time, poor girl had a heavy cold, was sent home yesterday! Should have been cancelled! Out respect fir customer
she had to go through the drawers looking for stock to use, this should have been stocked up for trading , went off to get card two times maybe three! Then again for a card insert!
I had to say look teach me as if l am a 5 year old! Not sure l learnt a lot to be honest! Waste money!
