This is a brilliant value for money course, where you get to take home a work of art. One tutor is a metalworker and blacksmith. The other is an artist and blacksmith. This is for novice and expert alike. The shop is a forge so dress accordingly. I made a seventy layer, raindrop pattern Damascus bowie knife with a drop point and 10 inch blade. It turned out stunning thanks to the help from very experienced tutors who make all their own tools.

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher. All fine details explained at each stage. Nice pace, did not feel rushed at all.

I had a great time at the Forge yesterday. Jos was welcoming and a good teacher. Friargate is a working forge with plenty of tea/coffee on tap as neccessary. I was shown the ropes and what I should be doing, then had freedom to continue [supervised] on the work required to smith my item.
Good combination of hands on and instruction. Really nice bespoke item created. Thanks for a fun day!

I had a recent two-day knife making experience and I have nothing but praise for Gary and Joss, who are lovely and very welcoming people. It was great to get more of an insight into the craft from such knowledgeable professionals, and I had an excellent time. Very grateful for their patience in helping me through the process, especially from Joss who I spent the most time with, and would definitely do something similar again.
