Bring your own embroidery designs, or download them from the Internet to use on the Janome MC500E Embroidery machine. Bring your own stabiliser and threads, or buy only what you need in the studio. We have stabilisers for knit and woven fabrics, plus water soluble for Free-Standing-Lace.
There is a variety of embroidery hoops, including easy to use magnetic hoops, one large enough for edge-to-edge quilting.

Fancy sewing in good company, with top-of-the-line kit to match? The Social Sewing Club is like the sewing and quilting "bees" of old, only with rather more up-to-date equipment. (Did someone say automatic buttonholes?)
This is when I open up the Stitch Lounge Studio to anyone who fancies sewing alongside friends, old and new. You're welcome to use any of my machines and gadgets, the cutting table, the irons, and to dig through my extensive sewing library – but most of all, you'll have company while you work.
Come along for advice on a tricky project, a browse of the stitch-themed library, or just a change of scenery. Book in to use whatever machines are available on the day, or let me know ahead of time if you have something specific in mind. The cutting table, dressing room, irons and camaraderie are always part of the deal.
I don't teach during the club itself, since I'll be working on my own projects, but I'm always happy to help with a bit of up-skilling along the way. You'll need beginner machine-sewing skills to take part – if we decide together that you need more dedicated teaching time, we can talk about signing up for a class instead.
On top of all the equipment above, Stitch Lounge is home to the Janome DM7200 and DM6100 computerised sewing machines, both with a range of one-step buttonholes, plus monogramming on the DM7200. You'll also find an adjustable-height cutting table, a steam-generator iron, and a needle felting machine.
Come along to a Social Sewing Club session to see what it's all about – tea, coffee and biscuits included. Sessions cost £10 per visit, plus the cost of any materials you use. Thread's on the house; you'll only pay for extras like interfacing and elastic.
What you'll get
Enjoy up to 4 hours of dedicated sewing time in a fully-equipped studio.
Knowledge required
You should have beginner-level machine-sewing skills.
What to bring
Bring your own project - or choose from a "menu' quick and easy items that make great gifts.

I'm Alison Tonï, I’m a Quiltmaker – and I love to teach!
StitchLounge.Scot is my sewing room, and a classroom. I want it to be a gathering place for people who sew, and who want to learn to sew.
StitchLounge’s vibe is “Social Sewing”, it’s a place to work at your own pace, on the projects of your choice, while enjoying the company of others who love to sew. Book into a Social Sewing Club session to see what it’s all about.
I have been sewing since I was 10 years old, and I have been teaching formally since 2012. I offer courses in Patchwork & Quilting, Sewing Survival Skills and Absolute Beginner Sewing Workshops, and Bag Making and Garment Sewing. I also teach kids to sew! Whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced stitcher, there’s a session to suit you.
I believe that making something is the most powerful way to express ourselves. I want to help you find your craft, and your creative space. My teaching philosophy is project based, we will focus on enjoying the process and having something to show for your efforts. My goal is to foster your creativity through hands-on learning.
