2 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests       £25 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Learn how to breathe new life into your loved items in this hands-on mending workshop in Edinburgh, picking up simple, sustainable techniques you'll use again and again. You'll walk away with more than just a new skill – you'll have a beautifully mended item ready to proudly wear out in public again.
Don't worry if you're a complete beginner; this class is designed to be welcoming and supportive from start to finish. Over the 2 hours, you'll be shown demonstrations of the most common kinds of repairs, from patching up tears and darning holes to fixing zips and keeping your textiles alive for years to come.
You'll then get hands-on time to put these techniques into practice, either repairing a piece you've brought along yourself or trying your hand on a piece provided. With guidance on hand throughout, you'll build real confidence in mending as you go, leaving with both a repaired item and the know-how to keep extending the life of your wardrobe at home.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 3 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Based in the West of Edinburgh in the recently redeveloped Riverside House by Wasps Studios. *Sew Gallus* is a combination of my two favourite words, 'Sewing' of which I have 20 years experience and 'Gallus' an excellent Scots word that often describes someone that is bold, fierce or daring. Something I was called as a child and was often discouraged from being.
I’m Cerri McKenzie, I've been teaching throughout Edinburgh for nearly 5 years now, in many roles from beginners to garment making and upcycling. I've discovered a real passion for helping people on their sewing journeys and now I'm excited to be starting my own workshops.
Outwith the teaching circle I have worked doing costume/work in Tv, Film and theatre after studying Fashion technology in Glasgow in my early 20's, but my first sewing job was actually in Alterations in a Tailors shop. All of this experience I think helps to give me an edge and helps me to think on my feet helping people through their sewing journey.
Don't forget to 'Trust the Process'!
