Join this six-week patchwork and quilting course at Stitch Lounge in Edinburgh, and learn the fundamentals of patchwork from the ground up. You'll start by choosing your fabrics, picking up the basics of colour theory as you settle on the hues and values that feel like you – with fabrics in every colour and pattern to choose from, and all materials included in the price.Next, you'll learn to handle a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat safely and confidently, so every patchwork piece comes out precise and even. Your teacher will share the tricks of the trade too – when a shortcut works, when it doesn't, and how to recover gracefully from the odd hiccup along the way. Each session, you'll have your own sewing station ready and waiting, complete with a computerised Janome machine, cutting and pressing mat, sewing toolkit and a comfy adjustable chair.You'll piece together four blocks, experiment with different layouts, and learn to measure and cut sashing that shows off each square, before sandwiching and quilting your piece using the beginner-friendly walking-foot technique. By the end, you'll have a one-of-a-kind four-block sampler table runner to call your own – a keepsake made entirely with your own two hands.Caught the patchwork bug?
