Join us to take your first steps into crochet, where you will learn foundation stitches and start to read patterns. Suitable for beginners, all materials included. Children can attend with an adult, recommended age 8+.
All of our workshops are low pressure, and we work at each crocheter's pace.
This workshop will cover the basic stitches and actions you need to get started on your crochet journey. We tailor it to each crocheter's needs and focus on the building blocks needed for any crochet pattern. Our aim is for our crafters to leave with an understanding of how to hold the yarn, some basic stitches, and deciphering the beginnings of a pattern so you can leave ready to take your next crochet steps, either with us in a future workshop or at home.
All of our workshop attendees get access to a post-workshop video covering the things we have learned, as well as a printed guide and all materials needed. We keep classes purposefully small so that everyone gets the individual attention they need.
If you have any questions about any of our workshops, don't hesitate to get in touch.

We are two friends who have crafted as long as we can remember. We've come together to bring knitting, crochet, polymer clay and macrame workshops to East Lothian, the Scottish Borders and Edinburgh.
Sarah
My name is Sarah and I've always been a crafter, particularly when it was not at all cool. I remember always having a friendship bracelet in progress attached to my sock or making paper flower bouquets for unsuspecting family members' birthdays.
However I was furiously against knitting and crochet in my teens, I think I thought it was too much in line with being chained to the kitchen sink and so I refused my mum's attempts to teach me. Fast forward 15 or so years and still with firm belief that I was not creative gifted from my high school art teacher, I started knitting a blanket for my baby while pregnant (needless to say it remains unfinished) but it sparked something in me about the mindfulness in making something slowly and EXACTLY as I wanted it. Sitting knitting of an evening was so much better for my mental health than the playing level 1500 of candy crush. And I've not really stopped since although now I've added crochet as my top evening craft along side macrame and polymer clay.
So having taught many people over the years to knit and crochet informally, I decided to expand my horizons and put on public workshops, private parties and 1-to-1 lessons. After spending 15 years in higher education in my day job, the one thing that is always true in any class is that people all learn differently and at different speeds. An explanation of a stitch that clicks for one person just will not land with others and that is absolutely as it should be. I'm here to find the way that works for each crafter and to help everyone come away from a class having had the gate well and truly opening to a new hobby. We always follow up any workshop with a specific video tutorial so we are still there with you once you get home and have forgotten parts of what you learned in the class.
