I made a dress and now have the confidence to go on from here with other patterns. I now have a beautiful dress that fits me perfectly that I’m going to enjoy wearing.

Small group garment sewing class was perfect to remind me of the basics, but also learn some new techniques and tricks. Relaxed atmosphere, and all basic equipment provided. Ali demonstrated a number of techniques to whole group (eg how to do body measurements, sewing darts) even if you were not using this yourself - really helpful. Info prior to classes definitely worth reading carefully- in particular guidance on type of pattern to bring.

I am very proud of the trousers I actually managed to complete, and I am sure that coming away with a finished garment is very much down to Ali's calm and helpful assistance. She has given me the confidence to go away and try more things by myself, although I may well re-enrol if I want to tackle a harder project.

Delighted with my new Peg trousers and probably would have taken me double the time to figure out how to complete some of the instructions!

I have been sewing for a wee while but wanted to improve my techniques. Ali our tutor was great, very patient and a mine of information. Ali covered some basics like how to pin and cut your fabric correctly and I really appreciated this part of the class as these were a couple of areas I wanted to improve. Due to illness I could not attend the last class but I will take a photo when my garment is finished and send it to Ali.

I took a pattern and fabric to class with a view to a challenge and with the help of Cerri I rose to that challenge. Whilst my pattern was not lined, it was my choice to add lining and adjust the pattern accordingly. I have a long back and Cerri showed me how to adjust the pattern to incorporate this and how to adjust the darts on the pattern. Due to having lots of pieces, adjustments, lining etc and completing "homework" I did not finish my garment but I will soon. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills with a friendly helpful and very knowledgeable leader. Thank you Cerri.
• 5/5 from Andrea Fraser, attended Mar 2025: I revised how to cut out, learned how to read pattern instructions, how to insert an invisible zip, and the teacher (Cerri) was very patient, giving us lots of tips. What I liked best was the friendly small group atmosphere.

I learn how to do pleats and darts and how to insert structured sleeves. Ceri was a fantastic teacher and had memorable ways to help you retain information. She was always patient and helpful and coped really well with the five of us in the class who all had reasonably complicated patterns. The venue works well, there are sewing machines available (or you can bring your own should you wish) and there are buses that pass or if you want to drive there is free parking on site. Everyone in the class was friendly and supportive. The things I enjoyed the most was the small class which allowed you to ask for help with anything you didn’t understand and also the fact that Ceri helped me work out how to do several things on my own machine.

• 5/5 from Cathy Tucker, attended Nov 2024: I did the three week afternoons dressmaking class with Ally. This is the second time I have done these classes and every time I learn new skills. Each tutor brings different skills and their own expertise. This time I did a lined floppy skirt. There were five of us in the class which gives a good pupil/ tutor ratio. I like the fact you can choose what you want to make as opposed to all making the same thing as this means you come away with something you really wanted to make and you learn from other people in the classes projects as well. Like the last time time flies in the class and the five hours feels two. I would recommend these classes and I am looking forward to doing another class in the New Year perhaps using a more difficult fabric or even making a pattern from some favourite clothes I already have.

• 5/5 from Cathy, attended Apr 2024: I did the Monday afternoon (12.30-5.30pm) class with Emma and made a simple A line skirt and a casual top. Emma was fantastic and I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 classes, in fact I can't wait to do another one. Emma was really good at explaining things and was always positive and encouraging. I highly recommend this class. I came away from the classes having learnt a lot and more confident than I was before.
