Writing Personal Stories: A 3-Session Course for Beginners

Writing personal stories: How to find, plan, and publish your memoirs

3 hours Class size 1 to 7 guests       £50 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join this silver enamelling workshop and discover how to add vibrant colour to jewellery with local jeweller Sheila McDonald.
This one-day class is designed specifically for beginners, so there is no need to worry if you have never worked with metal or glass before. You will be guided through the fascinating process of fusing fine grains of enamel onto silver using high heat, transforming powder into a smooth, durable glass layer. Sheila will explain every stage in detail, ensuring you feel supported and confident as you learn.
You will get hands-on with two distinct methods: sieving powdered enamel and wet laying ground enamel. You will explore the difference between opaque colours and transparent shades that mimic watercolour, applying them to pre-made cast silver shapes. While the class uses a small kiln, you will also see a demonstration of torch firing, showing you how to continue this craft at home without heavy equipment. We are mindful of our environmental impact, using lead-free enamels and ethically sourced, recycled silver.
You will leave the day with a new set of skills and a deeper understanding of this decorative art. You will take home two lovely, personalised items—such as earrings, charms, or pendants—ready to wear or gift with pride.
Please note: Silver chains will be available to purchase for a small extra charge on the day.
