Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Yasmin Anderson, attended Jul 2026: My granddaughter had a fantastic 1-1 sewing class with Mel today in Livingston. Mel covered everything she needed to know and more about how to use her sewing machine. She also made a scrunchie which she was very pleased with. My granddaughter is quite shy but Mel made her feel very comfortable and confident to use her sewing machine. We would highly recommend this sewing workshop.

  • 5/5 from Tracey McAdam, attended Mar 2026: Such a fun and helpful sewing workshop! The lady instructor Mel was really supportive and explained things step-by-step. Perfect for beginners like me. • 5/5 from Jane Bushell, attended Mar 2026: Mel was great. There was a mix up and she wasn't expecting me but was able to carry out a great one to one session with me, answering my questions and giving me lots of tips on how to get started. I needed some inspiration so she showed me the type of things she makes and we even made a scruchie that my daughter was very impressed with. Not related to the teacher, but the booking process was really challenging. I had to put in 3 times but there was no guidance on when would be possible. Noone got back to me and I had to chase up. I ended up having to speak to the manager on the phone to arrange a specific time (perhaps instructions to do this first would help), and then when I arrived for the session noone was expecting me and the lovely Mel had to delay her lunch to teach me.
