What you'll do
Combine the beauty and charm of found and polished sea glass with the adventurous technique of sand casting in this unique class. Held at our cosy studio by the shores of Banff, you'll be gently guided through the wonderful but sometimes unpredictable technique of sand casting.
During the class, you'll be able to choose your sea glass, smash it up and cast it in silver to create a one-of-a-kind pendant. What could be more fun? Choose to either bring your own found sea glass (if you don’t mind your finds being smashed up in the name of amazing jewellery making) or simply choose from some of our pieces we’ve found on Banff beach.
You will start by choosing one of our pre-carved moulds and learn how to set up your flask for the casting process. Then comes the fun: choosing your sea glass and smashing it up! Learn to cast your piece yourself, finishing with clean-up and soldering the jump ring to make your beautiful, unique pendant full of sparkle.
Every time you buy a class from Vanilla Ink, the profits are invested back into the 'Making as a Form of Therapy' programme, which allows them to help out vulnerable, disadvantaged and/or deserving people by giving them the opportunity that would otherwise not be available to them. They believe everyone should get the chance to experience jewellery making.
