Potter's Wheel Taster Workshop

Enjoy an introduction to the world of wheel throwing at this pottery class in Worcestershire.

1.5 hours Class size 1 to 2     label £60

If you're a fan of The Great Pottery Throwdown and you'd like to give it a go yourself, this beginners' pottery class is just what you've been looking for. In this fun introductory workshop, you will get familiar with the potter's wheel and learn what it's like to have a go at throwing.

On arrival at your teacher's studio, you’ll be warmly welcomed as you join the rest of your small group. The workshop begins with a full demonstration of the pot-throwing process, given by one of the studio's expert potters. Then it'll be your turn to step up to your individually-assigned potter’s wheel, get hands-on and have fun practising your pottery skills!

An experienced tutor will be on hand throughout offering practical tips and guidance. You will learn the five basic steps in making a pot, from centring, opening out and pulling up the walls of your pots, using specialist tools. You may create as many pots as you wish during the session, using an unlimited supply of clay. As a beginner, your pots tend to be super wobbly and often collapse but it’s all part of the fun and the normal learning curve of pottery!

This is a make-and-take class, so at the end of the workshop, you can choose your best piece to take away on the day free of charge (additional pots charged at £3). Pots can be left to airdry at home and painted if you wish, ready for you to admire and display with pride.

Please note: You may request midweek classes for groups smaller than 6. However, you will be subject to a minimum total cost.
