Then I booked Cerri McKenzie's 3-hour zipper wallet class, and I walked out with an actual, functioning, zips-open-and-shut wallet. Genuinely thrilled. Cerri's pace is spot on. She never rushes you and never leaves you hanging, and her guidance takes the fear out of things that used to seem fiddly (zips, I'm looking at you). Classes are capped at five, so help is always a few steps away and nobody gets lost at the back. If you're looking for a new hobby to see you through the dark evenings, this is it. Rusty beginners are very welcome, and I say that as the rustiest. Riverside House, Edinburgh, and yes, there's parking, which in this city is practically a miracle. Highly recommend. I'm already eyeing up the next class.

She explained the process step by step (explaining sewing terms as she went along) then looked on as we carried out what she taught us. Nothing was too much trouble for her. There were 5 of us in the class which was just the right size. I’ll definitely be signing up for the level 3 class. Thanks Kerry for a brilliant day.

We got to discover the technical terms for parts of a zip (slider, ends, teeth etc) - who knew? Another productive, fast-moving 3 hour session (almost 3.5 hours today) which has increased my knowledge and confidence with the humble sewing machine. Small group with constant interaction with Kerry works really well - broken down in stages, watch each step then do it yourself, zero issues asking questions/help. Going back for level 3 in a few months

For me a little bit more complicated than the beginners class, but great support, advice and instruction from Cerri made it good fun. Was chuffed to take home something I'd made myself including sewing in a zipp!!! Thanks again. I'll be signing up for the weekend 2 day course :))

A lot of detail and teacher was very patient and explained things in a way that was easy to follow. Helped with troubleshooting and I was able to make something with a specific pattern. Laid back atmosphere and have the pattern to repeat at home. Would definitely book again. Have attended different sewing classes but this is definitely has more skills included.

This was my second time back, and Cerri is such a gem - she actually remembered me from my first session. Cerri has a talent for pacing the class perfectly, giving us the space to troubleshoot our own mistakes while stepping in exactly when a "sewing emergency" struck. Warm, friendly, and highly recommended!

I had a great time and felt very comfortable with asking for any help or questions. Cerri makes the class both easy to learn but challenging enough that you feel that you have achieved something great when you leave. Would highly recommend if you have previous knowledge of the sewing machine and want to upskill or have attended the level 1 class.

I struggled a bit but Cerri was so patient and understanding, and took time to show me what it was I was doing wrong and helping me to learn to fix it. You can't learn anything without making mistakes and Cerri makes the environment so relaxed that you can be free to make mistakes and learn from them.
