In this exceptional beginner's workshop, you will learn the beautiful and mindful Japanese art of Kintsugi. This is a wonderful activity that reminds us to stay optimistic when things fall apart, celebrating imperfections by mending broken pottery with golden lacquer.
This experience provides a rare opportunity to gain not only a formal overview of the entire technique but also a rich understanding of the cultural, historical, and environmental aspects that make Kintsugi so meaningful. You will learn how to repair a ceramic piece from start to finish, transforming its breaks into a beautiful feature. This class is suitable for anyone aged five and up, making it a fantastic experience for individuals and families alike.
Here is what is included in your three-hour beginner's workshop:
  • An introduction to the history of Kintsugi, how Kintsugi teaches us about sustainability, and why it is considered a healing art.
  • One Japanese ceramic of your choice to work on.
  • Full use of all art materials for your Kintsugi repair (please note, these are for use in the studio only and cannot be taken home).
  • A free flow of Japanese green tea and snacks to enjoy throughout the session.
  • A beautiful Japanese Sakura flower gift box to take home your restored piece.
You will leave not just with a beautifully restored object, but with a renewed perspective on the value of embracing flaws. This session will give you a chance to create something truly personal and carry a piece of that restorative philosophy with you.
Please note the following:
  • You can bring your own ceramics to mend during the workshop but do ensure they have not been broken into more than 5 pieces in the interest of time.
  • Cancellation of a prebooked session isn't allowed. But you can reschedule your workshop once within 6 months or gift your workshop to others in case you can't attend.
  • Photos/videos will be taken of you and others during the session for our marketing purposes. If you would like us to refrain from taking these photos/videos, do let us know in advance.

Kintsugi is Japan's ancient art of celebrating broken pottery. It is rooted in an eastern philosophy of finding beauty in imperfections. Many believe it can help us to accept our flaws and foster a sense of peace and fulfillment.
Taught by qualified Kintsugi artist Nilo, who learnt Kintsugi art in Kyoto, Japan, you will undergo a transformative experience in healing as you mend your Kintsugi ceramic piece. Nilo’s journey with Kintsugi began in mid 2022 as a healing art Workshop for her two daughters to help them overcome their grief.
Nilo has taught over 4000 students to date teaching individuals, couples, families and corporate team building workshops for META, LinkedIn, Google. TikTok, Lloyd’s Bank, Barclays Bank and others.
