Hi, I'm Iris, an Italian artist based in Edinburgh with a lifelong love for creativity. Art has always been a part of who I am, ever since I was a child. It's been my way of expressing emotions, processing life, and finding joy. For me, painting is like writing a visual diary, it’s deeply personal, healing, and freeing.
I studied traditional art in Italy, where I built a strong foundation in classical techniques. Later, I moved to Edinburgh and studied Art & Design at college, and that’s where everything changed. I discovered the freedom of abstract art and how powerfully it allowed me to connect with my inner world.
After earning a degree in Product Design, I began working in the design field and was fortunate to be recognised for my work. I received the Starpack Award for Logoplast in 2022, and exhibited at both my final year university show and at New Designers in 2024. But while design was fulfilling in many ways, my heart kept pulling me back to fine art.
That passion led me to teaching, and I now teach at the Edinburgh Drawing School, leading classes in "Impressionist Landscapes from the Masters" using oil paints. I work with both adults and children, and I absolutely love it. Teaching has helped me realise that I not only love making art, I love helping others connect with it too. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch people open up, relax, and experience the same sense of freedom and peace that I feel when I paint.
Though I’ve been teaching for just over 6 months, I’ve already worked with many wonderful students, and I’m excited to keep growing. My dream is to expand into art retreats and creative experiences that help people feel more grounded, expressive, and inspired through art.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me, I hope I’ll get the chance to share the joy of painting with you too.
