Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Teacher was pleasant, and exceedingly patient, especially as her pupils kept on getting into difficulties, and were all working at different speeds. Could have a nightmare, but everything was handled smoothly and calmly.

My occasion was for my birthday as I have always wanted to learn to crotchet. My teacher was very understanding and patient and if made a mistake explained how we could avoid it in future. The venue was very good as it was a small table with enough space for the 4 of us. I loved the materials provided as well as the instructions booklet so I recreate it at home. I liked how it was explained very clearly as well as shown not only in the booklet but in person.

The instructor Lucia was very good and really knew her subject. We were complete beginners and had enrolled on a slightly more advanced class by mistake. Lucia adapted the class to suit our abilities.

I had tried to crochet for so long. I used books, watched videos and even my daughter tried to teach me.
When I came to this class, which I had been waiting for for a long time, I was worried it would be all young people but it wasn't so I felt comfortable.
Our teacher was great and came to us individually, a group of 5, and helped us when we got stuck.
We were all different abilities and she helped us all.
I finished a few rows and learnt to do double and triple stitch.
I feel more confident now and will book another class soon.

Lucia was fantastic. My sister and I went, her as a complete beginner to crochet, but a novice knitter and me with a little bit of crochet knowledge and she differentiated her teaching incredibly well to make sure we both learnt something and made progress within the session. The yarn we used was of a great quality and the hook was really good. Would definitely recommend to beginners or anyone interested in learning.

My daughter loved this craft session. The lady helping us was very friendly and thorough with explaining every step and engaging. We had a previous session which was also excellent. Thank you Stratford, your efforts are very appreciated. The sheep and bunny have taken centre stage on my daughter’s side table. Great way to keep children busy. We always book craft sessions here as they are faultless.

We try to do. One workshop every half term. My daughter Really loved today’s workshop (printing) She has the freedom to create her own version of the canvas while following a steps provided by the lady running the workshop.
My daughter is Autistic and isn’t able to sit still for the entire workshop. Which is never a problem as it’s always tailored to the children at the table.

The crochet class was something I had wanted to do for some time. The materials were excellent and techniques clearly explained. The table we worked on was very cramped and the teacher could not move around it, instead she had to walk up one aisle and down the other to help different people around the table. So pleased to have learnt a new skill and very exhilarating to be totally ‘in the moment’.

Great session quickly got the hang of double and treble stitch, even showed increase and decrease. I feel much more confident in trying on my own and understanding patterns. Lovely materials provided for lesson, teacher was great and showed her passion and expertise.
I would keep going back for more advise on future projects.

I’m not sure how it can improve as I am very much a beginner using a Cricut machine. The teacher was really enthusiastic about the Cricut range and gave a really good explanation about how to use the Maker 3. Thank you.

The teacher was good and knowledgeable. The children aged 6 & nearly 5 enjoyed the experience and it was about the right length. It was also good value for money. The location could be improved - it was rather crowded and in the middle of the shop. As a result the teacher was being interrupted by customers and also there was nowhere to sit for adults supervising young children. I would have liked the workshop to have been in a separate room which had been properly setup.

Enjoyed the class and the teacher was really friendly giving clear instruction. Although my Baubles were more streaky than marbled, and others had the same thing happen. Also the venue was chilly, so the system used left us with still wet baubles when the shop was due to close and the patterns on the baubles changed as they had to be turned upside down, so the wet parts didn't touch the boxes, to transport home which affected the patterns we had achieved.

Carmen was a great teacher. Clearly explained everything and helped with hints and tips. Only thing I would add is that the workshop crafting table is quite small and tucked in an aisle. A bit more room would have improved the whole experience.

A fun activity for the children (aged 7 and 4). The teacher had good ways of breaking the models down and encouraging the children to use different techniques and tools. They loved the spooky end results and are enjoying playing with them at home!

Really disappointed. The lady leading the class was sullen, rude and completely lacking in enthusiasm. She certainly didn’t seem to want to interact with the kids, all of whom were very well behaved and attentive. She kept taking the pots away from the kids and undoing/redoing it to be ‘right’ rather than helping which really took all the fun out of the experience for all four of them. I’m afraid I’m actually going to cancel the other session I had booked for next week. Such a shame as it should have been a really easy fun low pressure session. It’s not like anyone needs a perfect woolly pen pot!

Sorry for giving it only 3 stars. The very patient teacher was brilliant. She gave the children time to create their own masterpieces. A great activity, BUT, the paint was NOT washable, so we have a child's favourite football shirt, splattered with paint stains, after 4 washes the paint stains are still there. A warning to parents is needed to prevent this happening again.

My class was on the use of iron on vinyl, Abi was very patient because we used the cricut to cut letters and I am not very good with technology, I provided my materials because I purchased them intending to do it myself at home but couldn't , ii was a very informative lesson I just hope I can remember when I come to do it again, Mrs Lynda Baker

Emma was a great teacher, I liked that she built a wreath at the same time as us rather than just telling us what to do. Making in store meant we had access to a few extra bits to make our perfect wreath. It’s put us in the festive spirt and I will definitely book more classes in the future as we didn’t have to tidy the mess up like at home! Thanks for a great workshop

I attended the Autumn Wreath Making Workshop in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We were lucky enough to have guidance from Fiona. She was incredibly friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Fiona explained what to do in really easy steps which made the whole experience super enjoyable. My daughter and I came away with 2 very beautiful wreaths. I would definitely recommend the workshop to everyone

My granddaughter enjoyed the session ,partly because she was sitting next to a little girl of similar age. It was a friendly little group and
Carmen was an enthusiastic and patient facilitator . The 3 spiders we made will be great halloween house decorations .
The allocated table space was not ideal as customers needed to get past us .
I feel the price was good value and will keep an eye open for further events in the future.

Emma was very knowledgable and did a great job in bad conditions . I expected to be sitting at a table in a private area not in the centre of the shop where any passerby could stand (and did)in on the lesson I had paid for. Standing at a tall table display for one hour is not ideal. It’s only Emma’s teaching that earned this any stars at all. Please supply the staff with decent laptops at least to demonstrate with.

The only reason I have not given it one star, was the the lady who tried to help me was lovely - Emma. However, I will not be booking a Hobby Craft workshop again. What a waste of money! When I turned up, they weren't expecting me as my booking hadn't been written on their diary. So the staff quickly scrabbled together and decided that one lady would go with me and 'tutor' me with the Cricut Maker.
I am disabled and the table that we had to use was at standing height, which was no good for me. There was no laptop to show me design space on properly, only a tablet. This is not only not the full and proper design space program which I wanted to learn, but the tablet was fixed on a pole at fixed angle for someone standing up, so I could not see what she was doing on it. The lady then proceeded to try and show me on her phone - so unprofessional! It was also far too small a screen and too basic for me to learn anything. 40 minutes into the 'one-to-one lesson', the lady had not even touched the machine. In the last few minutes of the session she cut out one simple heart with a fold line, and that was the only thing cut on the machine in my entire hour session. I asked about foiling as I am also very keen to use that, and she told me that she didn't really know anything about foiling as they don't sell the foiling attachment in that branch.
I honestly don't think I could have been more disgusted with this experience. Ideally I would like my money back as this was a complete sham, but I wouldn't want to embarrass the poor lady who was dumped on to spend the hour with me. I would not recommend Hobby Craft sessions at all based on this experience. I signed up to learn how to use my new £360 machine, and I came away, after an hour, not knowing much more than I did before I started (which was barely anything!).

The teacher Tash was excellent and lots of fun. We had never been to a in store class before but Stratford-upon-Avon store was a perfect venue with lots of parking available.
I’ll materials needed were provided and at £5 per child it was excellent value for money. We will definitely be back for more courses in the future.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time at Stratford upon avon today. The staff member I think her name was Laurie was so lovely and kind to the children. We came away with not only the sea animals my daughter made but the left over clay! We can't wait to try some of the other sessions. Thank you

We've had the most incredible afternoon at Hobbycraft Stratford Upon Avon. My five year old daughter and I attended the Clay Sea Creatures Workshop. Laurrie who ran our session was absolutely lovely. She's got such a kind, warm manner to her that she puts everyone at ease straight away.

The clay air drying dough is such a wonderful material for children to use (and adults as I thoroughly enjoyed using it to). You could very much take the workshop at your own pace but Laurrie was on hand to offer guidance and gentle encouragement to try different things throughout.

It was lovely to see the children picking up ideas from each other. One of the other girls made a fab mermaid and my daughter was raving about it on the way home and saying how she wanted to try and do the same things at home with a patterned mermaid tail.

My daughter has some medical needs which can make using traditional doughs or stiff plasticines very challenging for her over an extended period of time. This dough was perfect for her needs and she was able to actively participate for the whole session without tiring.

We've already booked onto another Hobbycraft workshop next week and one for over the October holidays. We'd also absolutely consider doing the exact same workshop as well. My little one said it was amazing and she practically skipped off home after we'd purchased some more dough to work with at home (you do get to keep your creatures and any unused dough - but we loved it so much we wanted more).

Laurrie thank you so much for the session it is easily the best thing we've done so far this holiday and we hope to see you again at a further workshop. All the store staff were really friendly. I'm sorry I don't know the name of the lady who came and took photos of the children's creations at the end. It really made my daughter feel special someone wanting to take a snap of what she'd made.

Oh - almost completely forgot to mention that this session was superb value for money at only £5

The girls aged 9 and 11 thought the teacher was very nice. These are their other comments:
The table that we worked on was a little cramped.
We thought that we should have had more brushes and of different sizes rather than one each.
Also more palettes.
The paints were good.
We enjoyed the workshop and are pleased with the results.

This was the first time we had attended a Hobbycraft workshop and it certainly won't be the last. Our teacher, Laurie, was fantastic with my daughter giving her ideas for making sea creatures out of air dry clay and showing lots of interest and time. The materials were lovely, and my little one got to keep what she made and the materials she was using to keep creating at home. As it was so fun, we have booked into another one, it was a great way to spend part of the school holidays in a cost effective enjoyable way and with such a friendly member of staff! I was the only participant for this acrylic pouring workshop, so had one to one.
The space was pretty small so I was pleased it was only me.
I wish I could remember the lady's name, but she was fab.
I lurved the kit and there was plenty left to use at home.
It was a wonderful relaxing experience and I would thoroughly recommend doing this.

Great teacher, value for money as my daughter learnt so much in that one hour. Had problems with my own machine, so was able to take and use my own machine and troubleshoot issues to that particular model. Will book another session to improve skills and for general maintenance, looking after machine to avoid future problems.

Tutor was friendly and explained everything clearly, working at my pace. The box of goodies contained everything needed to make the macrame plant holder, and the quality of the macrame thread etc. is really good. The workshop is sensibly priced too. The ‘working area’ was okay, however, being sited between 2 rows of goods, meant that interruptions from other customers wanting assistance occurred - not ideal when you’ve paid for tuition. Would suggest a separate area be allocated to workshops so that interruptions either don’t happen or or minimised.
Overall, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed making the plant pot holder, and will definitely be attending more workshops.

Granddaughters were pleased with the workshop. Enjoyed using acrylic paints and produced a painted lama and a LOVE picture. The was a good choice of canvas pictures and colours and brushes. The supervisor was organised and helpful giving them ideas on variations of paint application.

I learnt how to print using vinyl, how to make a double sided cake topper and how to print onto fabric and which resources to use.

Christmas wreath making workshop today - total of 4 in the group plus teacher. Our teacher Tash was just lovely - so many tips, ideas and support and a real laugh as well. The wreath pack was really good value for money (you can buy the pack to do at home but the workshop has extra bits and tips and guidance on what to do). The workshop was held in store and the only down side was that customers kept asking Tash for help when it was clear she was running a workshop - she still provided them with guidance and didn’t leave us - it may be an idea to rope off the area with signs in place saying workshop in progress or have an another assistant that end of the shop to support with questions. Apart from that minor clitch, it was great fun and would highly recommend. I will be looking at other workshops now as well. Thank you for lots of festive fun!

Very informative class. Lovely teacher, but not a subject that is easily picked up. It needs lots of practice unless you happen to be a natural. I came away with a pack of lovely pens, a notebook and practise materials together with a drawing pad. I’m hoping to make beautiful name tags for my presents after lots of practice.

Workshop with Tash was really enjoyable. Started off with easier letters to get used to holding the brush markers and creating the strokes through applying varying pen pressure. The worksheets provided were really useful and Tash's calm and patient approach really helped. Loved it being in the middle of the shop floor as opposed to a 'classroom'. The box of 'goodies' were fab and it really all about practising at home but needed the basics to do so first. Would highly recommend the workshop. Thank you very much!

I was surprised that the workshop happened in the middle of the shop. I thought that Hobbycraft as a company will have space for example….another room to do the crafty business. There was 4 of us who had to share 2 scissors ✂️ until later 30 minutes into the session were brought another 2 pairs. This should had been prepared in advance. The lady who showed us what to do was friendly and approachable. Over all I learnt how to use the glue gun. Creativity can not be thought otherwise.

Charlie taught me how to hold and work the crochet hook. She was patient and helped me start my crochet snood and taught me how to carry it on at home, along with how to change wool when I have finished the current wool I'm using. I found going to this class to be enjoyable and have since started other crochet projects using the techniques I have been taught by Charlie.

Charlie was Brilliant. I came away with so many tips that I'm positive I would never have come across no matter how much googling I did! She covered everything I wanted and I came away with bags more confidence to go home and try myself. The only negative I have is that all the courses are on Wednesday meaning I have to book a days annual leave. I really hope ypu add more days (a Friday would be great) as I know I would love to book more courses as I progress with my machine.
